Deca Games has developed a series of questions to gather feedback from players regarding their new event dragons. To capture an accurate account of players’ assessments, Rate a Dragon threads are created for each new dragon. These threads will be available approximately one to four weeks after a dragon’s release to allow players some time to breed the dragon and admire its fine qualities.
Since Deca asked players to rate their dragons and provided questions for the categories they would like to receive feedback on, please keep all comments related to the dragon. Opinions and suggestions about the selection process Deca utilises to add player-designed dragons into the game, requests to include or exclude a player’s dragons from the game, and other off-topic comments will not be passed on to Deca. In addition, excessively rude, graphic, or offensive remarks will not be relayed and could result in a ban. Criticism is certainly welcomed, but try to keep it constructive and relevant to the dragon.
The Rate a Dragon threads will remain unlocked until the event concludes on August 21st. At the end of the event, your ratings and comments will be passed on to the Deca DragonVale Team.
Please take a minute to rate the Deepest Depths dragons from 1-5 for each category. You can either post your feedback on this thread or message me. Thank you for participating, sharing your thoughts, and making this game even better with each dragon.

1. Animation 1 it seems way too energetic. In my mind the dragon should be more graceful and majestic, but that might just be me
2. Size (if you don’t own Kelpie, please check a friend’s park) 3
3. Price (11,000 Doubloons) 5
4. How well does Kelpie fit the theme of the event 5
5. Rate Kelpie’s design 3
6. How would you rate Kelpie’s breeding combo (JUMPIPLOP + plant + earth) 2 Jumpiplop's parents have really low odds, but at least it has good cloning odds. Seaweed + earth would've been better
7. How much do you like Kelpie (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 3
1. 4/5 Looks happy & I like a happy dragon 2. 5/5 Worried it’d be too big but no, just right 3. 4/5 1K too much 4. 5/5 Fits right in 5. 5/5 Gorgeous colours & who doesn’t love a Seahorse 6. 4/5 Not sure about Jumpiplop 7. 5/5 Love it
4. How well does Kelpie fit the theme of the event: 5
5. Rate Kelpie’s design: 5
6. How would you rate Kelpie’s breeding combo (JUMPIPLOP + plant + earth): 3.5
7. How much do you like Kelpie: 4.5
Comments/feedback for Deca: A seahorse fits the theme perfectly. Great size, design and colours, the colours complement each other well. Adding earth to Jumpiplop in the breeding combo seems an unusual choice when it is a water dragon. There are already four elements in Jumpiplop, an extra element didn’t need to be added. Jumpiplop, Riptide and Psyche will all need to be added to this event next year so that Kelpie can be bred.
4. How well does Kelpie fit the theme of the event: 5
5. Rate Kelpie’s design: 5
6. How would you rate Kelpie’s breeding combo (JUMPIPLOP + plant + earth): 3.5
7. How much do you like Kelpie: 4.5
Comments/feedback for Deca: Cute seahorse. Love the baby. This is another 5 element combo, with actual breeding odds lowered. The earth element seems unnecessary for a deep sea themed dragon.
3 - Good for a dragon to have personality, but this one's kinda crazy like dang chill out. But also, if this dragon were going to copy another's animations, the Seaweed Dragon's animations were the best one for it, simply because Seaweed and Kelpie should be similar.
2. Size (if you don’t own Kelpie, please check a friend’s park)
4 - Opposite of what I've said for most dragons in this event, it's a tad bit on the large side. Seahorses are small. Especially compared to other animalistic dragons like Honuhonu, this thing is huge.
3. Price (11,000 Doubloons)
3 - High, but passable.
4. How well does Kelpie fit the theme of the event
4 - It's a sea creature, but not a "deep sea" creature.
5. Rate Kelpie’s design
4 - Nothing much to add.
6. How would you rate Kelpie’s breeding combo (JUMPIPLOP + plant + earth)
1 - Jumpiplop makes no sense. I would've done (SEAWEED + plant + earth) instead.
7. How much do you like Kelpie (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!)

1. Animation: 1/5, I have no idea what these animations are supposed to convey. Is it meant to be galloping? This isn't how seahorses move, how horses move, how anything moves. It's jerky and unnatural in a way that makes it seem very artificial, but this might just be the result of the animators having to work with the design they were given.
2. Size: 2/5, Far too big. Why is it not the size it is on the loading screen if it's supposed to be pulling carriages? It's huge!
3. Price (11,000 Doubloons): 3/5
4. How well does Kelpie fit the theme of the event: 3/5, aquatic but not really "deepest depths".
5. Rate Kelpie’s design: 1/5, I am so disappointed that this is how kelpies were used. I love mythological kelpies, they're interesting and terrifying shapeshifting creatures from irish folklore that usually resemble horses and live in lochs or other bodies of water. I don't mind that they don't look like horses, "seahorse" is a fun enough pun I suppose, and I like seahorses much more, but they barely look like seahorses except for the snoot. The wings aren't fin-like at all, especially compared to seahorse fins, with the large dorsal fin seahorses usually use to move. This could have been an interesting opportunity to have a 1-winged or 3-winged dragon, or even just stick to a fairly generic seahorse shape to keep the concept intact. The tail is far too short and seems stunted and awkward for something seahorses use constantly to anchor themselves, only accentuated by the vestigial legs. The face is malicious, which is another great idea I definitely wouldn't have a problem with if it was executed well. Kelpies aren't supposed to be friendly creatures, but the mouth design is too goofy in comparison to the eyes. All of these issues are compacted by the colours, which seem almost entirely random. Kelpies are generally described as dull-coloured, ghostly, but if that was too uninteresting you could easily have thrown in some brightly coloured parts to give it an unearthly or bioluminescent feel, which would lean more into the deepest depths theme and the mythological theme. The colour scheme as it is seems basically random, and even on a great kelpie design it would hold it back significantly.
6. How would you rate Kelpie’s breeding combo (JUMPIPLOP + plant + earth): 1/5, I don't really get what jumpiplop is doing here.
7. How much do you like Kelpie: 1/5, The strange shape, hideous colour scheme and completely mythologically-divorced design kind of ruin this one for me, though I recognise a lot of that will just be how disappointed I am with kelpies being so strangely used here.

Animation: 2/5 Overall it is rather erratic and not really fitting for what is expected.
Size: 4/5 Just a little too large.
Price: 5/5 11,000 EC is reasonable for an event starter.
Theme: 3/5 Seahorses aren't really found in the Mariana Trench.
Design: 3.5/5 Although Kelpie's design and concept is great, the name could have been different as it is a red herring. The mouth is a bit silly also.
Combo: 2/5 What the heck is jumpiplop doing in this dragon's combo? Although the elements make it a little simpler, having jumpiplop there means that both it, Riptide, and Psyche will all have to be added to future paradise events... never really a fan of using dragons in other events in combos.
Preference: 4.5/5 By FAR my favorite starter of the three.
The Original One is in all things. The Original One is nowhere at all. From all creations, over all creations, does Arceus watch over all.

1. Animation 2/5, the animations are very erratic, they don't make sense for this dragon I'm gonna be honest When you look at the dragon you'd expect it to be more graceful

Comments/feedback for Deca
Kelpies are dangerous horse-like creatures from Scottish and Irish folklore. So, the seahorse design of Deca’s Kelpie is a very clever and creative take on the water mythology. Bravo!
This animation is the Seaweed dragon's animation. While I understand why Deca used it, it really emphasises Kelpie's wings, making it appear more like a bird than a seahorse. Riptide's animation would’ve fit better and given more movement.
Kelpie’s design and colours are appealing, but his face has no expression and it never changes. It’s a bit strange.
Jumpiplop doesn’t fit the breeding combo. Not only does it not match Kelpie or the water kelpie folklore, but it requires Psyche and Riptide, which are normally not in the event. Jumpiplop is a circus/faire dragon from the previous event. Instead of moving three dragons from the circus event to this one, why not use Seaweed, Swamp, or Tidepool? After all, Seaweed's animation has already been implemented.

KELPIE DRAGON
1. Animation - 2.5/5 It would’ve been great if Kelpie moved around more instead of just bobbing and flapping its wings. Now that Adlerist mentioned Seaweed’s animation, I can’t unsee it lol. I don’t mind if an animation is used again, Backflip did it all the time, but it would’ve looked better if Kelpie moved around.
2. Size (if you don’t own Kelpie, please check a friend’s park) - 5/5
3. Price (11,000 Doubloons) - 5/5
4. How well does Kelpie fit the theme of the event - 5/5
5. Rate Kelpie’s design - 4/5
6. How would you rate Kelpie’s breeding combo (JUMPIPLOP + plant + earth) - 2/5 I don’t get it at all. Jumpiplop is such a weird random choice.
7. How much do you like Kelpie (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) - 4/5
Comments/feedback for Deca Keplie’s snoot doesn’t look right. It’s too big and distracting.

Comments:
Another dragon that doesn't fit the theme at all. If Deca wanted to make a Coral Reef event, they should have just done that. This just looks like another seahorse, and a boring one at that. I'd assumed the name "Kelpie" meant it lived amongst the kelp forests, but apparently it's a mythological creature that resembles a horse with a tail. Whichever mark it was, I feel like Deca missed it. Kelpie just looks like a weird Kingdra.
I don't have much to say about the colours. Sealife has a lot of odd colouration and even though this combination wouldn't be my first choice, I can get behind pretty much anything. Having said that, what's with the red snoot? Looks like lipstick or severe inflammation.
I didn't notice the reuse of the animation. It doesn't bother me. I'm more annoyed that Deca had a brand new event to play with and didn't do much of anything with this dragon.
The breeding combo makes no sense. Jumpi? There are some normal hybrids that would have worked just fine. Not every new dragon has to be made using another recent dragon. I'm all for Jumpi making more appearances though. That's more opportunities to actually get a traited one for those who don't have one.
