Blazing is a compulsory parent.
Blazing and lava/obsidian gives you short average fail times
If you want to keep your options for DR open then blazing and moss/tree

Expect to revile lava dragons by the time you get one. (Long fail time and low sale price. Also ugly as. )

Anyone else having a tough time with Ruby? I've been trying island/cave consistently all month with no success. I must have an egg for my collection! Using chrome/scorch. Advice?

Just to clarify...

Buying the dragon costs 1525 gems.

But buying the display egg only costs 115 gems.

Not sure how doable that would be for you though, since I'm not sure how many gems you have now or how many you average per day.

One way or another, still a week to go of course.

I have come up with my own combinations for breeding rare dragons. I hope my list helps someone out there. Some combinations may have expired, but when the dragon comes back y'all should give it a shot if you are having trouble on your own. Here we go:

spring dragon-storm+forge
Olympus dragon(all but gold so far)-bloom+panlong or teradiem+bloom
silver treasure-cold+mine
sun dragon-river+bloom
Platinum dragon-rust+bouquet
Blue moon dragon, rainbow, and sapphire dragons-ice+mine
rainbow-magnetic+swamp
more to come as I find out unique combinations. I hope this post helps someone. cheers!

rukia221- first you have to know what elements are in the dragon before you start experimenting. I'll help you with this one. If I can remember correctly the dragon contains: plant, lightning, water, and fire. second, check to see if you have "hybrid" dragons (two elements) that contain those elements. I believe I did it with cactus+bouquet. If you don't have bouquet try: cactus+salmander or cactus+coral. If you don't get it on the first try, keep trying over and over again, until you get 60hrs. If you get 60hrs, you did it. If not keep trying. I think I tried about 30-50 times until I got it.

Hi Rukia. Mike is right in that it is just a matter of keep on trying. Double Rainbow is the same breeding requirements as Rainbow, which is having 4 elements in the breeding combination. As you're trying for other dragons, just make sure you have different elements in the mix, and you will have a chance at a Double Rainbow. It is very rare, with less than 1 % chance to breed one. It is definitely a long term goal.

What did Sandbox's announcement tonight mean about recognizing rule changes and updating after Backflip 'lifted' the common breeding outlines?
I haven't seen anything from anyone here, but he's listed a few limiteds as though they're obtainable now... I'm going to check Wiki and peak around. Anyone?

Previously, there were a series of uncommon dragons, which were the second dragons released of the two element pair. For example, originally Fire and Metal would only make you Brass. Then they released the Forge dragon made iPod the same two elements, and breeding fire + metal would get you a Brass dragon aout 75% of the time and a Forge dragon the other 25%, hence the term uncommon dragon. There was also a rule that stated breeding with a hybrid or two, that only combined 2 elements in the pairing would never result in an uncommon dragon. So Metal/Fire + Brass/Forge or Brass + Forge would result in a Brass dragon 100% of the time. This was especially useful when the Treasure dragons were released because you cold breed that combination to get the short fail times of Brass whilst you were trying to breed a Gold Dragon.

With the introduction of the Gold Hybrids, they have removed both those rules. Brass and Forge now occur about 50% of the time, and any combo that can make Brass can also make Forge.

Been lurking on these forums for a awhile, decided I'd say hello. I never really took DV serious until a few weeks ago and have since bred quite a few rare dragons. I finally got a Double Rainbow a couple nights ago.

I guess my first general question would be how frequent do they release new dragons for us to breed? Is it a weekly/monthly basis?

Also, the Sandstorm Dragon and Peridot Dragon have been a pain in my rear. Can anyone reveal the "safest"(gem related) COMBO to breed those two Dragons? Thanks in advance!

Dragons have been released weekly for as long as I can remember. Though I'm old and senile, so it might not have been that long really. But generally every Thursday in the U.S. there is a game update.

Only one combo works for Peridot, cactus + crystal, so just keep breeding them.

Air + Mud is a reasonable combo for Sandstorm. koala.
