so I'm still a bit confused, how will I know if I've been 'sent a challenge'? From your explanation, it sounds like one of my GC friends will suggest I (?challenge me to?) play a game?? Do I have that right?
Totally agree w you, it's a spam equivalent in my book...

Not necessarily, but if you capitalise on a funny in joke of the forum, it feels more personal and we like it more (maybe) than other jokes. I assume your talking to the Princess Leia joke in the Caption competition, right!?

Maybe someone with an analytical aproach / skills could make a better investigation than my guess ☺️

If you check your tabs you will see a challenge tab along with friends, me, games. Challenges appear there

I have never done so, but it appears that you send a challenge by selecting a friend then choosing a game, then a GC achievement that they have not yet met. You can then send them a challenge to meet it.

By way of testing I sent a challenge to jamesvaler on a game we have in common. It appears it may be a way to send a message to a particular friend. JV please feel free to decline the challenge. It was only a test of the system. You may unfriend me if you wish.

GameCentre has the ability to set challenges for friends within the GameCentre app. Sadly that "feature" has been used by some unscrupulous developers as a stealth marketing ploy. I was caught by one a couple of years ago. I installed and tried a game when I received a challenge. The game immediately started sending out challenges to everyone in my friends list without my knowledge let alone my consent. I'm an Un-Friender, too, Kiwichris. When I get a Friend Request, I accept it and then immediately check to see if DV is one of their games if they don't mention it in the request (preferred), and immediately unfriend if not. Took me a while to discover UnFriend - swipe left on their name in GC to see the UnFriend option.

Thanks so much all; Womantrarae, yep I knew I had seen at least 2 people dislike/unfriend in their sig/info boxes or comments in this forum.
JV and GD thanks for clear info; I am v unfamiliar w how GC works, have only used the ' friend' invite tab for this game and had to ask folk to explain the first time new skills, stave off early onset dementia! Breed and tend dragons

I think you are referring to Earth Theme.

Thanks Buffy, Not sure it's earth? : creme brûlée colour, with slabs of light caramel coloured Russian fudge around the outside of the island ( am NOT missing sugar since drastically reducing it in my diet, not not not)
Not everyone who has a 'mature' park has one, I'll check some friends and add to this

Treasure? If you swing by Fletch_smf park I am using it on my far left island with my metal, treasure habitats, colosseum and race track.

If that's not it, let me know which of my islands has the one you mean.

fudge, sorry just checked vp's park; the island nestled in immediately to the left of the winter wonderland (? Cold w villages) and cold themed islands

but I think not treasure, I think that's the blandish taupe colour?
edit; nope you don't have the theme I mean Fletch; I see you have earth ? With the dolmens and an arch or two of rock along the rear edges, and taupe coloured treasure, but not the one I mean;

Glad we got you sorted in the end.

It is quite ok to post a picture.
You cannot post it directly.
The way to do it is to post your picture to an image hosting site. Imgur and photobucket are popular free sites. Then post an embedded link here. I used photo bucket above.
Use the option with "img" tags. JV has posted detailed instructions for imgur somewhere here.

Looking at Ninjakiwi's park, it's either Lightning or Light.
