Tried out the bouncer/grinder grudge match. My bouncer was demolished. Each of them was level 13 and backed up by a Rock bot. Grinder was faster and hit for considerably more damage.
The only way I won with my bouncer was to pair it with a repair bot. I think it is a bit unfortunate that the grinder is the go-to bot for all fights so far. On the other hand, I was pretty sick of losing most of the time with other bots.

Yeah see #105. Wish the grinder was not immortal and could be beat with the right combos of opponents. Makes the game less....
repost since I'm lv 12 now and won't be changing this anymore. That said, so far all the the battles in lv12 are identical to lv 11....
though: level 11: (my highest lved bot is lv9.... no idea if that affects the maximum level of the opponent) (I use a lead lv9 bot, and a lv5 support for most battles. sometimes I use a lv9/8 support bot.)
Lead bot type: caterpillar names: Nemo, Lance levels: 7-9 (varies, seems to have no relation to the support bot lv) HP: Level 7:210........ Level 8:240........ Level 9:270 gizmo: -Nil- , drill, stinger, flower, carrot
Support bot type: carrier names: Porter, Marek, Drogher, Jade, Joan, Hermes, Nimitz levels: 7-9 (varies, seems to have no relation to the lead bot lv) HP: Level 7:91........ Level:8:104 ........ Level 9:117 gizmo: nil?, fog lamp, rocket lancher, nail gun, scary ghost gizmo
Notes: For some reason, the frequency of the bots rather adruptly changed.... or I wasn't paying enough attention earlier... but they seem to have at least one of them wear a random gizmo at every battle now... when they rarely wore it before.
I a little unsure about the carrier bot gizmos because the carrier only brings it out to attack, and keeps it away, and my attention isnt the greatest..
somewhere during lv11, the lv5 dual builder bots appeared for a battle, then it was back to the caterpillar-carrier pair again. I suppose that's a glitch of some sort?
the grinder(with red disc) seems to deal critical hits and recieve glancing blows either all, or most of the time. No idea how that works, though.
As mentioned above, the battles at lv12 were identical to lv11 ones, barring that it costs more each time now, and that I recieve more exp/food/cash. It's still the caterpillar-carrier forever pair, with the same lv range.
I think this is an update, but the selected bots appear smaller now...?
Put a Level 15 Mole in as lead (with cheese grater) and Carrier with Rocket Launcher as support and beat the Caterpillar/Laser combo. For those looking for variety.
I tried Mole because Syl at the wiki had been collecting data about the different types and how they work in the Battle Arena. Things like Bots with a Nature element have more Hit Points, so last longer before getting knocked out. Will try and collect all that into some useful form and add to the OP. My test account is just about to hit level 10, so I'll start keeping records there as well.

My lvl 10 grinder with red disc defeated lvl 14 caterpillar.
Lvl 15 astro with ion drive lost to lvl 14 caterpillar with stinger and lvl 15 laser with cannon so lvl 15 astros are not invincible after all. Tried astro with ion drive, pulsar and plasma against a variety of caterpillars and lasers, wins were very slim, dependent on lvl of opponent bots and their gizmos. My advice is if you're up against lvl 15 caterpillar with stinger and laser with cannon (i.e. high lvl bots with battle gizmos), you may be better off with 2 bots like a lvl 15 grinder with disc as lead and lvl 15 aloe with fire plant as support which Pixie has mentioned in the other thread. I'll try using a lvl 15 caterpillar with stinger as support, next time strong opponents turn up.

Grinder (15, red disc) with Carrier (15, nail gun) for me against Cat (15, stinger), Laser (15, cannon)
Something odd happened here; my carrier glitched out and never attacked. But the red disc did his usual thing and cut through the opponents on his own, despite taking normal damage. Then, after the battle, the arena timer isn't going, meaning I can immediately fight again (and I think I didn't see the expected boost for my bot). Same opponents; go with Grinder with Cat (stinger) for backup, things work normally this time with an easy win. Saw a bunch of glancing blows against my grinder.

I may be mistaken but it seems that after you loose a battle you get a new random pair ( had floodlight and laser bot, both without any battle gizmo, so i took the same a pair with battle gizmo and yeah won the battle! Anxious to see what pair will be proposed next.
