So, I've been using the Grinder Mole but saw in the sandbox there is a new rule where it has to be 4 elements and those are only three. Do you think it was a glitch that Fletch got it with that combo and that has been fixed? I don't want to continue breeding a pair that won't work anymore.

It's not like a gem dragon where only one combo will get you success. I'm going to go with a 4 element combo that includes the elements Fletch used.
So anything that contains B/M/N and something else seem to have a good chance. Pam got hers with Carrier + Aloe (B/M + N/R).
So far, very interesting combos! I just finally bred Harvester late yesterday and today I've got a lovely Mole growing in the breeding chamber. I already had Grinder, so after Mole finishes, I'll start trying with Grinder + Harvester and see how well that goes.
I am not high enough level for Repair zones, but yet the Astro zone and bot is available in the market, so I suspect what you need is basically two hybrids with three elements (that includes Nature) OR two hybrids containing a total of four different elements. Or maybe I'm totally off track here.
I would suggest that everyone (if able) provide screenshots of the pair in the Breeding Lab, and then a screenshot of the 48 hour timer. This will give us concrete proof, and if everyone does it we could get a lot of proven combos fairly quickly.
Edit: Congratulations, Lotusthreads!

No I waited till I got it, to build the habitat.
I just reached level 14 and the first goal I got was to build another repair zone, so I built that, and then put my robots in the breeding station and bam, the 48 hrs came up, so I had to demolish a builder zone to build my astro zone.
Wasn't expecting to get the astro so soon, as this was only about my fifth try with that pair. Luckily all the fails are short, the longest were two frankies.

Quick note passed along to me:
Using the Quadrillium as a pointer for what you would like others to speed up is a phenomenal technique.
Debstoy filled me in on this (so I pass all credit along to her), and I see a few using this technique (or maybe just coincidence), but many many more not using this at all. I simply love this idea. My apologies if I sped up the wrong thing when visiting anyone. Sometimes I accidentally click something when trying to zoom in to see the full time remaining (that's another thing I really like that BFS added to this game - fully zoomed in the duration bar has a digital timer cow ting down)

It was lungbutters idea originally, I think. My problem is I use it as a decoration around my Mining habitats.

That's easy, just put another single one next to what you want sped up, that way it doesn't obviously look like a decoration.

Well my outpost doesn't look great, but I don't want to have this thing plonked into the middle of it just to help speed up things. I'll just have to trust the visitors to use their best judgement.

I have a question. Having just reached level twelve, obviously I want to breed a repair hybrid. To do so would require that I breed something to a pure repair. Is that a fofeiture to do so? And, I and everyone else will want to do the same when we get science bots. How are we handling that?

As far as I know, there has only been 1 Astro bred with 3 elements. Repair was not included in those 3 elements. I looked at the Sandbox and cannot find any combos for Astro that include Repair by itself.
Based on this, having only 1 breeding space to work with, I would have to say you would have to choose between breeding for Astro and Repair hybrids. Let me know if you want to withdraw to breed Repair hybrids. The owed crystal to the winner would be expected, just like the I Hate comps.

That's fine, but everyone who joined prior to level 12 and 16 will come to the same problem. Maybe the contest would have been better at level 16 or give everyone a pass to make a hybrid at each of those levels. You cannot progress in the game properly otherwise.

Very true. We're just trying it out. People have the choice to drop out if they want to. We'll continue with this one and learn as we go.

Pixie, although I am not running the contest my inclination would be to let people breed 1 repair hybrid only, as from that they can pick a lot more combos to try, and other repair hybrids would result from continual breeding for the astro. That way they would also be on the same footing as people who started the comp on a higher level.

Since we don't know for sure what it takes for the Astro, I think letting people do one breeding session with each new bot type is definitely fair. They'd still be doing a three-bot combo, even for that session, and we've seen one of those work for Fletch. Remember - in the "I Hate" competitions players are still able to use their second breeding area for something else; I'd hate to see us slow down the participant that much by denying them access to the new types, when we know there are Repair-using combos that can work. It's also similar to letting people in the "I Hate" contest breed to get the right parents before they can go after the gemstone dragons.
Obviously, it's your final call, Pixie, but I vote we allow one breeding session to create a hybrid for new types.
Trying with Mole and Grinder, 24 hour fail arrr frustrating.
