That's what I love about this comp! Tho after last month, if I get to the last few again I'll quit the comp. I'm just in for fun this time.
I decided to try for Olympus rather than air/lightning for a second sonic & got it first try anyway, so as soon as it incubates/hatches I'll be using both cave & island.
I have a 38 hr 24 min dragon (Moon, Seasonal or Rainbow) breeding on my EBS and a 35 hr dragon (Gold, Silver or Bronze Oly.). Then I will have to breed for a Hail dragon and then I can go for the Amethyst.

Maybe, to make it up, you can attempt both sites once at the start, then drop to one site after if you wish.
Unless they come out with a limited dragon, I will be using both sites for an Amethyst/Hail dragon. I did not expect such a new dragon to be used for a Gemstone dragon this quick so I thought I had plenty of time before trying for one. I guess that will teach me!
Looks like I lose as well. We should have a competition to see who is last to get an second. Seems like eggs are always harder.
I'm in!!! But now I first have to wait for a 48 hr?! (well, a little bit less than 39 hrs actually) What can it be? The sandbox was unreachable to check..
Frick! I don't have a hail yet. I'll use both to breed those, then will use both to try for Amethyst. What a loser I am!!
The only reason I have an hail is SO many people on this board were sure it'd be used in the gem dragon I thought I ought to go ahead and breed one. Then breed a second because last month I ended up wanting to use both breeding sites for a time.
I'm breeding in the cave currently. My island is still clogged up with a silver I got before the gem dragon came out.
Although. when the Love dragon comes out, I'll only be able to use one breeding ground for the gem dragon for a while. I still need that Love too.

Congrats to all the losers. There are so many right away I'm glad I was one. Now to give lessons to all the winners. Are you setting the right mood for the dragons? Are you serenading them when you put them in their room? Other suggestions to follow.

I don't bother serenading my dragons since the breeding spots do that for me, but I have to say, it might sound better if I did the serenading instead. I probably could do a better job setting the mood for the dragons in my cave. Poor them, they have to look out on the baby dragon cemetary. However, it must be encouraging to them to know that if their baby is stillborn, its remains will be treated with great respect and given a fitting memorial.

Congrats to all the losers! I'm still winning but happy I quickly achieved another sonic and a hail as fails so I could breed in both places. My koalas seem to be in hibernation lately and feel I need to give myself the best odds possible. Koala to all!
Well 2nd try and I got amethyst. I guess I am a loser. I love this contest. Last month I wasn't able to join in time and it took me until the 29th of January to get Garnet.
This contest must have great luck! Best 3 gems I have ever spent.

Wow, I have a correction... My koalas have abandoned my park completely. I've had a moon, then a sun, now I presume I've another sun cooking. Yucky long fails but I needed a sun egg for display- just one.
An FYI to the newer folks, and a reminder for the vets, I'm seldom online on the weekends. I'll update the OP with the latest losers on Monday.
