I was prompted to update my version of DragonVale yesterday, and I did so. I did not notice any change yet from the previous version. Do any of you find something difference after the update, or is it just to fix some bugs in the program?
Unfortunately, no changes for me, my game still crashes when I access the friends list on my iPad Maybe my iPad1 needs to be upgraded this Christmas?
After I updated yesterday, I was able to visit friends for the first time in 5 weeks. I visited 4, then the game crashed. I went back and visited 3-4 more, then it crashed. I made it through my list, 3-4 at a time. Now I understand why my cash earnings for the past month have been so much lower than my projections...don't know why it didn't occur to me sooner.
New iPad 3 arrived yesterday, MOTH prepped it for me last night. I'm loading it up today. I'm very eager to see if the list crashes go away, if the painfully slow loading times for HC and breeding venues improve (more lists!), if my entire game begins to move faster - my dragons move as if their arthritic joints are SCREAMING at them.
So, I guess I'll start moving everything to the new iPad. MOTH will be home for lunch in a few hours, he can repair the damage I wreak as my fingers stumble through the transition, lol.

My dragons love sharing the party wealth with new friends, but all the gems are spoken for. New friends are welcome, but no gems are left to shar
Then it gets interesting if you use : IMNSHO lol (Translation: in my not so humble opinion )
It's interesting that using these acronyms is supposed to be a shorthand that is saving us time; yet it actually can make the communication between people more difficult. IMNSHO lol
Wonder if teenage dragons use slang to confuse their parents? OT

So sorry the new update didn't help much. Let us know if changing to the new iPad helps. You are going to love it!
I can't believe it! After 21 attempts, I bred an Opal and I didn't notice! I'd been reading on my iPad and jumping back and forth between DV and Kindle. I had just gotten another Rainbow in my quest for a Gold Olympus, then I swapped out a Lava and Mud, but didn't check the time to breed. Back to my book for a bit. A final sweep before bed and I didn't check, but figured I had another Lava, as the progress bar had very little green on it. This morning, I finally checked and then had to double check before I could convince myself I really had an Opal on the way. Yahoo!

It'd be cool if BFS could come up with Version 2 of the Bone Dragon. So, same general design but a different color or something like that. That way, those of us who didn't play the game when the Bone Dragon first came out could still get one but those who have been here since the beginning can still keep their original Bone Dragon (and their status as long-standing players) and then add the new version of the dragon to their collection.
Perhaps BF should come up with dragons that are called "extinct" dragons rather than limited then.
There are going to be a lot of disappointed players if they don't bring the limiteds back, most players were not around when the first one (bone) came out and have been waiting for October since they started. Should they change or not release Reindeer, Love, Clover, Leap Year and Sakura too? Paper is a different issue all together since it's based on anniversary gifts, but I could see BF making Paper be a fail option for the 2nd anniversary "Cotton", assuming they stick with "Traditional" gift themes.
The one thing most players don't take into consideration is BF is a business and being a business they need to make decisions that are economically viable to their bottom line. That being said, what makes the best financial decision for BF? Bringing back the original bone dragon, potentially upsetting the small group that started playing those first couple months and were lucky enough to acquire a bone dragon, or bring a modified bone dragon back and risk potentially losing a much larger portion of your customer base, or not bring it back at all and likely really take a financial hit?
Being a business owner the answer is a no brainer to me.
This week has been really insane...My luck is really holding and my wife is very upset with me so I need advice. Since Sunday I have breed a Gold, Silver and today a Rainbow Dragon, insane I know huh? So my wife once she sees my nursery will get mad at me so I need a place to hide, any thoughts? I was thinking either the Hibernation cave or maybe in the Colosseum, can get lost in the crowds lol.

Here's a thought... Perhaps we already have the new Halloween dragon: Ash. At some point very soon, we may be able to breed it with another specific dragon (new or existing) and the result will be: Bone. Everyone happy...
Just thought I would let everyone know that backflip studios doesn't physically remove any dragon from the game ,they write a certain piece of code into the game itself and when the time is up on each particular limited dragon this removes it from the market. Having said this it is almost certain that the bone dragon will be back as they would have to change the code altogether to NOT have it back at the same time of year. The code that they put in for every rare/limited dragon is (" legacy 1 ") this is what's written behind every rare/limited dragon inside the game code and when it is removed then that dragon is available back in the market again. I know this because I use it to get all dragons and also all rare/limited decorations as well. Hope this gives those wanting the bone dragon to come back a little piece of mind. :-)

They have to keep the code for the old dragons so that all the players that have those dragons can read the description when they click on them. The Rules just keep getting bigger with each dragon released.

The flip (backflip?) side to that is which is going to make them more money: All the players trying to get a brand new dragon, or just some of the players trying to get a rerelease of a dragon the don't have yet?
I don't think anyone will stop playing if they don't rerelease Bone, Reindeer, etc. But less gems are going to be used in the search for each rerelease because of the players that already have them.
While chatting with the "girls" through text today I realized that after 168 tries..yes you are seeing right I still have not got my 2nd Seasonal! Ugh!!! Ok..now the first combo I tried was 62 tries and nothing. Then I tried the combo I am currently using has been 106 tries total. I actually got the 1st Seasonal on try 10 so that is another 96 tries with this combo and no 2nd. That is just pathetic. Maybe I have power lines nearby my breeding caves or something messing with their fertility?! I have got to be the champion for worst luck in DV history.
How many tries for SKaala to get a Rainbow, do you think?
Seasonal is only slightly easier to get than Rainbow, just 2 or 3%. It is supposed to take a while to get.
Regarding the posts about people playing Dragonvale from the start. There's a game that I play that every year they celebrate their anniversary. They give out anniversary presents to the gamers based on when they joined the game. I started 4 months after the game first started but had to wait 20 months for my first anniversary gift on their 2nd anniversary of the game's inception.
It would be interesting if they could deliver a statue or something to the players that had started the game....now how they'd pick to do that I don't know...ie the first week it opened? second week? They'd have to draw the line some where. My other game did it based on when people created their account. So I think if you created it the day after it opened....you had to wait until 2nd year anniversary. That said it's a completely different type of game where people could create their account prior to the game's opening day. (GW2 did the same thing - create account before could download)
If they only plan on the paper dragon, then they're cutting it off by year, and no one that started after anniversary 1 will ever be able to get it. Certain dragons like the Leap Year one will be indicators.
All in all we're not competing against each other, ok barring the "I hate" competition, and our islands aren't competing against anyone else too. I quite enjoy checking out my friends islands and getting ideas about how I might change mine up and design an egg collection display.
Well, they gave 25 gems as an anniversary present this year to everyone regardless of when they started the game. A statue is nice but I was EXTREMELY happy and grateful for the 25 gems.

And what's the percentages on getting a Gold, Fletch? I've been trying pretty consistently since it came out with about a million Brass fails! and otherwise no success...
Thanks for reminding! I have reached gold status for my Metal shrine and so I left that out. What I missed out is the eighth one, Water shrine! Will rethink of the alternative to Sonic after the Paper.
Any suggestions from friends and experts here?
My 0.02$
I keep reading that people are replanning their grind to use Paper over Panlong because it's quicker. In my experience, I don't earn enough cash in 24 hours (12 hr breed + 12 hr incubate) to level a dragon to level 15. So, unless you have 10M food already or have a billion DC saved up, or make an average of 15M DC a day, I would encourage you to consider breeding Panlongs. With a modest daily income of 5M DC, you can perfectly grow enough food to level up baby Panlong between the time it take for it to hatch.
My other advice... ask Fletch.
Many thanks for you valuable advice, Myke! I will try to review my whole strategy and take a balance. Thanks again.

Please post in the Shrine Strategy thread with how many elements you have at Level 15 according to your shrines, and I'll formulate a plan for you using the least number of dragons available.
Also, do you have the Bloom Dragon?
Thanks, Fletch!
No Bloom dragon, I'm afraid, as I only started in April. Could be better off with that.
