Tried to make this contest not be impossible, some of you are very clever.
Question for you all, would you be interested in playing this game again after the party? Adjustments would be made, some may not find the answers quite as easily next time. Interested?

Spent a while trying to make an ascii pacman to eat the word contests. I have found out that I suck at ascii art. My sentiment seems to have exceeded my talent. So, you'll have to accept a moar contests! instead.
We will continue to accept points until this timer ends, Midnight, Sunday, April 7th, PST. We wanted to give a bit more time to people who may have been limited by the work week. A little gift from your staff. Have fun!

All I can say is that I didn't submit any "guesses". All of my answers were as clear as day.
I would love to know how you differentiate Blue Fire/Fire, Frostfire/Cold, Rainbow/LYD, Current/Water and Sandstorm/Air.
Alright Coronis, this is how I did it.
One thing that I know about pictures made by Pixie is that her primary source of Dragonvale info/images is from the Dragonvale Wiki. With the dragon images already precropped and placed on a transparent background, I'd say it would make dragon silohetting much easier. With that said, the first place I looked for clues was on the Wiki and tested my theory by searching the pose of the Pollen dragon, which is set in an unusual stance. Once I found that match, everything else went downhill from there.
Here's how I differentiated the dragons from the Wiki: Rainbow/LYD: Look at the placement of the dragons feet. They appear closed and relate closely to the image of the LYD on the wiki. Also, if you we're to zoom in on the spine, a small portion of it is rigid which only the DV wiki shows for the LYD.
Fire/Blue Fire: The pose on the shadow island has the dragon with an open mouth, which looks the same as the Blue Fire dragon on the wiki. The fire dragon on the wiki is standing up with its mouth closed.
Air/Sandstorm: The pose for this dragon was upward with its mouth open. From this the Air dragon from the wiki held the same pose while the Sandstorm faced downward.
Plant/Ironwood: Look at the spacing between the legs. The legs are spaced much more closely on the Ironwood than the Plant dragon on the wiki.
Cold/Frostfire: The head on the dragon's silhouette is facing downwards, which is the exact pose of the Frostfire dragon on the wiki.
Water/Current: This dragon was probably the hardest dragon to decipher for me, but if you look closely, there is a small difference. The Water dragon picture on the wiki has its mouth slightly open, while the Current does not.
As for the Metal or Malichite for Myke, the Malichite has two curls at the end of its tail, which a regular metal dragon does not have.
I'm pretty sure that some other players had found this method as well since from what Fletch and Viviane had explained, was such a high percent.

That's how I did it as well. Once I figured out the all the shadow images were mirror images of the wiki dragons, it was prett straight forward.
I think I learned something new about my dragons before I figured it out though. For the first 'recolor' dragon I ran into, the Leap Year/Rainbow, I watched them both for a while, and it seemed to me that the bend on the middle hump of the Leap Year was consistently tighter than the bend in the Rainbow, allowing for that 'connected foot' look. It could have been my wishful thinking, but it appears that it may not be just a straight recolor.
I'm always excited when I discover a new nuance in a dragon. Even if I only imagined it.

Alright, now I 'm miffed about myself. I did it just the same way as you with the single difference that I couldn't find the difference between Current and Water. I guessed.....wrong. This cost me 55 points. Now have a look at the leader board !
Oh well, it's only a game.
