Greetings all! I began my DragonVale journy about two days ago. I don't know how the simplicity of it was 2years ago; however I can tell you that its very straightforward for a complete and total nooob like myself! I don't find it overwhelming, I'm more like a little kid in a large world of dragons I know very little about but have a thirst for more knowledge about the multiple aspects of the game and I'm diving right in!!!
Btw, hello forum! Registered because I realize how much more fun a game can be when you've got a community playing with you.
Welcome! You are right, it really is more fun when you have a place to gather and discuss your passion.
When people started long ago there weren't as many pure elements, and Rainbow was the first rare type dragon available. As time has passed more and more limited dragons have been added making it more difficult for newer players to continue to breed the normal dragons while trying to get whatever limited dragon/dragons are available at the time. It can be a bit overwhelming when you are dealing with limited resources.
Glad you are enjoying the challenge, grab as many limited dragons as you can during the Bring 'Em Back event. Be sure you visit Bloodstone's Monthly Forecast to help make your plan.
I am focusing on dragons that are only available during this time. These are currently my primary focus: Century Gift Apocalypse Paper Reindeer Leap year Panlong Mistletoe Turquoise Gift (not yet available)
If I'm not able to get these dragons before the end of the BEB event they may not be available until next December.
Is there any limited dragon that I should add to this list? Is there any dragons on this list that will be available before next December?
Hello everyone I started in July. So this is my first BEB event. I am focusing on dragons that are only available during this time. Thanks for the help.
Hello Guy, and welcome to the friendliest DV forum. Have a look at Pixie's post just above yours, and click on the Monthly Forecast link. It's a really useful thread with the dragons listed by months with some of the combos you could try. Also, there is a brilliant sandbox, look in useful links on the home page of this forum. There is another good thread, Fletch and Myke will help you breed those dragons... If you click on new topics in the menu under the banner you'll be taken to a screen that shows all the latest posts. Hope this helps.
Kindle park1: nearly all dragons are frolicking in their habitats! (A Thorny little problem to resolve...)
Smartphone park2: Geode, a dragon with rocks in! Still to breed 4 dragons...

Your list is pretty good You might add : Cotton Blue Moon Dark and Light Rift But with your start in July you probably have all those already.
Koala for your hunt

Your instincts are correct I already have Cotton, Blue Moon, and d/l rift
I have had Koala this month: Turquoise x 2 Panalong x 2 Leap Year x 3 Paper
With a bunch of other firsts: Rainbow Montly Teradiem Jet Firework
It has been a challenge to always stay on top of my game and never miss a limited (plus an egg) but BEB is the biggest challenge yet!
I had a horrendous scare last night - I opened DV, and was presented with one island, and the cue "First, you should buy a Green Dragon." !?!
While I've only been playing for about 3 months, I've made good progress, and the thought of it happening in the middle of the BeB event was disturbing to say the least!
I eventually found that somehow my park had changed from FB to local in the Options menu - changed it back, and viola! (Whew!)

Same thing happened to me and I guess a lot of other people too. It's frightening, isn't it ? But I think since the ios update ( or DV 2.0) ios players now are asked at game start to log into game center if not logged in.

My 12-year old daughter started in September, but I've only recently joined to collaborate with her on her park. It's loads of fun to have something to discuss with her and strategize over. After discovering this fabulous forum and reading through the sage posts, we've been focused on breeding a Panlong. Glorious fails have resulted in two DRs, and, today, a Blue Moon, among countless others, but Panlong remains elusive.
We would love your insights on two questions: 1) we've been miserly saving our gems from coliseum events to upgrade our breeding areas, but at 79 gems, the goal is far away for the BEB opportunity. What is your advice for making DV friends, which seems to be a great way to learn about other ways to design parks and also give/get a few gems each day? Is it customary/acceptable to invite people who contribute to this forum?
2) if we are able to get one Panlong before BEB ends, will we be able to breed others with it after BEB?
Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts.

Hi and welcome. 1. DV friends are always welcome, and there is no need to limit yourself to three (or six if you have the tree) I currently have around 70 friends, and I usually get 8 or 9 gems from them each day, despite only being able to return a maximum of 6 a day. If the fact that I don't return a gem immediately means that the person stops giving me a gem, then cest la vie. I will also periodically give gems to an individual that I deem "in need" for some reason, and will give them gems every day for a while. This is sometimes semi organised - see the DV community chest thread for details
2. Panlong is a regular limited dragon. As such you need two in order to breed more once the event finishes. As this particular dragon is a non recurring limited (it commemorated a once only event) You will only ever be able to breed it during a BEB even unless you get two. Others in this category are Paper and Cotton. Apocalypse and Leap Year are almost as bad, but because they are Epics, you will only need one to be able to breed more, IFF you have the requisite partner dragon.

Welcome! Wonderful that you and your daughter are sharing the DragonVale experience, that's how we all found each other.
Seems Greg has answered your questions, but please feel free to browse around the forum for other tips and suggestions and ask any questions you may have.
This may not be the place to post this but I have been playing DV for about a year and a half. I didn't realize that there were forums until about 6 months ago and this is my second time posting here. I was wondering what KOALA means. I see it everywhere in this forum. I think it might mean koala? But I'm really not sure. Again I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but feel free to PM me with any insight. Thanks

Yes it means "May the fates be kind to you". You will note that it can be difficult to avoid the autocorrect. And may a drop bear fall on those who set up the autocorrect

Lol, it's one of those things where you really had to be here when it was birthed to get the full awesomeness of it.
Thank you for the clarification as I was very confused when trying to type those words. Tried several times and thought maybe my phone had GLITCHED. I'm happy to know it hasn't. pretty comical. I might try it with one of my friends and see how frustrated they get . May the odds be ever in your favor!
