I could be totally dumb about this, but with Limited Dragons like the previous Lunar Eclipse and the now available Solar Eclipse, if you breed those two out of their windows can you still get those two dragons from that combination?
Yes, that should work because they are Epic Limited dragons.
Solar Eclipse: Air, Earth, Fire Lunar Eclipse: Air , Cold, Earth
Off the top of my head, this means the combo can produce:
- Primary Earth and Air Dragons - Evey possible Hybrid combination that includes Air, Cold, Earth or Fire (this excludes out of season Limited Dragons or Opposite dragons though) - Autumn (because Autumn is in Season and requires Fire, Cold and Air) - Rainbow/DR (because 4 elements are present) - Solar Eclipse and Lunar Eclipse (due to Epic cloning rules)
I believe that should about cover it...
But it seems like I am now with breeding 2.0 I just keep getting Airs from my first combo. I am up to 5 Air. In the sandbox I put in Lunar and Solar and it spits out a multitude of hybrids and no where on the list does it just say Air. I was a bit surprised when I used my upgaded cave and the time was less than 2 hours. When the sandbox said the shortest was 6.5 or so.
Well, I'm sure that's an error on the Sandbox that has crept in during a recent update. I know that it was working before and obviously if you are getting primary dragon results the game rules have not actually changed.
It should be reported to r0b0-tr0n so he can fix it. I can e-mail him or you can contact him via his site:
Well, well, well.. looks like someone has been UNSQAUSEHD the latest bug!
I'll need testing confirmation and maybe Fletch will chime in here too, but I believe the only possible outcomes with Solar Eclipse + Lunar Eclipse are currently Air, LE and SE, with the majority of the fails being Air.
PJ should be overjoyed... until someone fixes it again of course.
Not sure if other epics got reverted and don;t have time to check right now.

H llacey, welcome to the forum! The air result was the result of a now-fixed bug, where Lunar Eclipses contributed air to the combo. This has now been changed.
Breeding Lunar and Solar should now give the expected results from the sandbox, with a chance to get either epic.
That is a bit funny because I created this profile to actually post and address this situation. To put it another way if it was fixed it has since reverted (like Bloddstone mentions) since as of a few hours ago when I kept getting the Air eggs. I should probably have another egg ready to hatch so I can try the combo again and see what I get.
100 Solar Eclipse + Lunar EclipseTests 84 Air 9 SE 7 LE
SE and LE were 50/50 until the last few tests, so more tests would be needed for further refinement, but believe them to be an equal in possibility. Lots and lots of Airs.

SSSSHHHHHH
It is interesting though that breeding LE+SE has such a lower probability of success than breeding LE+LE or SE+SE.
SE+SE is still going well for me - I'm getting somewhere between a 30-50% success rate.

Perhaps for Like + Like there is a consistent 40% chance rule, and for Limited Epic + Dif Limited Epic, bothd ragons have the "standard limited appearance rate." (Which was somewhere nearish the 10% area I think?)

That is looking very true in the limited testing. You can see the raw data here. Should be in the 2nd tab named In vs Out, if it doesn't open to it.

Having read the posts above, and being short of SEs in both parks, I tried breeding SE/LE in the EBI x2. After some airs got the long timer in both. One is a SE, waiting for the other to emerge. What now happens with SE leaving?

The new limited epic breeding rules seem to favour clone breeding. It is fairly well documented now that solstice +solstice -> solstice at about 40% success. I have also been trying for Spring/summer using those parents. I finally got one (Spring) after around 35 attempts. This is about 3% success. Then I switched to summer/summer and got one first try. Now I know a sample of 1 is not exactly statistically significant, but it does point to the 40% rule being true here too. I need two summers going this route as I need to replace my baby as well as getting the egg, so I will keep you posted.

A sample of 200 Spring+Summer breeds produced: 13 Spring 5 Summer 5 Sun/Moon 3 Rainbow
Continued testing would probably bring the Summer numbers more into line with the Spring.

Thanks Pixie, but that was not what I was getting at. Your sample is roughly 10% for the match-to-parent result. Mine was 3%, but it was in the cave! you don't specify where you did the testing.
What I was getting at was that clone breeding seems to be significantly better than sibling breeding. If you could test summer/summer or spring/spring that would help answer the question. Also since BFS now specifically state that island breeding doubles the chances of a rare outcome, you should note where the breeding took place.

Testing was done in the cave, as well as the Summer+Summer to follow.
Thanks Pixie. This is certainly firming up my suspicion that epic clone breeding runs at around 40% success while sibling breeding runs at about 5-10%. This idea is reinforced by my summer/summer breedings which gave me two summers back to back. I lack the resources ATM to do any real testing as I am well behind trying for the light/darks. My choice as I have decided to return to completing my limited egg collection for now. The permanents can wait. Incidentally, I just tossed in Sakura/Sakura and got 8 hours enhanced. I am hoping for Sakura, but it may be lava. If the clone rule above includes non-epics, Sakura is likely.

So, what happened with the Sakura?
