Yeah. The only Octavia Butler I've read is parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talets. REALLY liked the Sower. Not so sure about the Talents book. Good as a sequel.

Dragon Naming Comp
Dear all,
As you well know, dragons all have names, and often it is difficult to think of the right name for all your dragons. I recently noticed that a lot of my dragons are named insignificantly, given default names by the game. This won't go on any longer. I would like you to help name my dragons. Any and all suggestions will be considered, but I must confess that I am picky and will not necessarily take on any suggested names (although you guys will come up with loads of good ones, I know it!). I don't mind suggestions for specific dragons, but my early dragons (the basic ones) are all named as I like, so I will unlikely change one of their names! I will give one gem to each person for each suggested name that I take on.
Let the names flood in!

Celestial Habitat: Equinox - Autumnal - Hmm, not sure about that, sorry. Sun - Hellfire - Yes I like that! 1 gem so far. Moon - N. Armstrong - PERFECT! 2 gems! Dawn - Sunrise - Too... Obvious IMo, sorry...
Sun Habitat: Lunar Eclipse = Lune de Sangre - Too long I think... Lunar Eclipse = Blood Moon - Love it! 3rd and final gem... Otherwise I'll never pay you back! You're too good at this game! (New rule, 3 max if you give a giant list! But keep them up!) Dusk = Coucher du soleil - That would've been perfect, but too long...
Moon Habitat : Midnight = A.M. - Too obvious, not enough excitement in my humble opinion... Sorry Blue Moon = M. Collins - Clearly I should know his name... But I don't, sorry. Dawn = Lever du soleil - Again, won't fit.
Sun Habitat: Sun - Sunflower = Tournesol - I'm pondering on this one... I think I'll go with it. Solar Eclipse = Baily's beads - Don't get the reference... Hmmm Equinox = Vernal - Bloom was the vernal dragon, (vernal fountain!) so no.
Meridiem Habitat: Midnight = Cinderella - I've watched that film too many times... Blue Moon = Marcels - I'm definitely missing some allusion... Solstice - Daffodils = Jonquilles - Solstice dragon seems too aggressive looking for a flower name. Moon = B. Aldrin - Yup, but I'm just gonna call him buzz.
Good list. Remember, I am REALLY picky, so I'm sorry if I seem harsh!
But I think there are some good names in there, so I'll give you three gems some time over the next week or so. Oh and I might turn all your French names into something shorter. So maybe the dusk dragon could be "se couchant" (going to bed) and the dawn dragon "Se levant" (rising). Clearly there are some things in there that I don't really understand and I'm not really a fan of flower names for celestial dragons...
Right! Keep them coming everyone, I still have at least 200 dragons to go! Remember, I am collecting 3 of each dragon, so even if I don't have it yet, or one name has been suggested for that type of dragon, I can always do with more names!

For your Eclipses - Corolla, Corona (I think Baily's Beads are the appearance of 'droplets,' noticed by some guy named Baily, in the corona of the Solar Eclipse - good reference, Buffy, but too long! ) I also like the Moon Astronauts and valer's Buzz<3 Didn't the Marcels (or Marcells) record Blue Moon? Love that song and how it gets revived periodically! You'd think I could come up with something good for Solstice, but I just name them after me! SolsRae

When I named a few dragons for wapatango (BeardWapa, ZombWapa, etc., to honor her dragon-whispering help), I babified them so she would know her namesakes when she visited. Michael Collins is the third member of the Apollo 11 mission. He was the pilot in the Command Module that circled the moon whilst Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin landed the Lunar Module on the surface. He flew a very long way with no possibility of stretching his legs when he got there, and as such is hero, somewhat doomed to obscurity. I think he deserves a dragon named after him.

I did in fact know that, and thought against it seeing as he never made it to the moon. He is a true unsung hero, but not a namesake for a moon dragon. But I'll name my polarian that. They are both space objects, and really, Michael is a star too! Gem to you sir for the idea!

The whole family is extremely humble and as an example she quoted her father once (great quote) - he was asked what it was like being a hero and going into space - His reply "I'm not a hero, I was just doing my job". Great people who are truly grounded (except when in space). I second that nomination. Koala to all
