Well.. I'd be willing to spend $10. My calculation of the probability of needing more, and perhaps as much as $15, is why I decided I didn't want to spend the $10 in the first place. Because if I spent $10 and fell short, yeah I'd feel like "It's just a couple dollars" more.
I HOPE, at the end, the 60 egg package won't go away! Wouldn't it be terrible to have NO WAY to earn more magic eggs yet come, say, 20 eggs short of getting the island due to lack of ability to buy 60 eggs?!
Hoping they have factored in all these scenarios. Guess we will find out by/on the 27th.
Am not positive because have not kept careful track of all eggs earned, but did get extra eggs from clearing a new island and am hoping that will bridge any difference there may be. My plan is to gather double magic eggs each day and see what package is still available when the weekend is over.
Fingers crossed no more is needed. Seems to me it would be asking too much of their players to expect them to pay more than that for a premium item. Know they are testing the waters, watching to see what we will be willing to pay. Hate to pay more than that, but have already paid the $9.99 so do I let that go to "waste" if only need to spend another $.99 to get the island? Am positive will not pay another $9.99, as it is already missing from my market. Highest available package in my market is the one for 400 eggs. Hoping only needing less than 400 more eggs, that's doable this weekend.
Have several more hours before my clock resets. Will see if the 400 package disappears after this next collection.
For all those that haven't kept track of your eggs amount : you can "read" from the stained glass how much eggs you've turned in allready. For every full 200 MEs there are 2 coloured triangles.

I just think how I felt when I played pet society - I loved that game I spend hours collecting coins to get rare things - I also put real money in when I wanted something desperately - then all of a sudden the games gone - all those hours and hard earned cash - it's a little sad when that happens - I'm careful now I don't spend real cash on a wim - don't think I will for the island
Nineteen dragons away from a full set - it's work in progress still !!

I bought one 900 last weekend and one just now. I haven't spent is awhile but still collect once a day and have kept up on the new dragons even playing so little. I see it as thanking backflip. I'd hate to not see some of you not finish. The egg part of the island just looks cool to me. I play other games like kingdom age that are much more blatant in money grabbing. Imagine if we had the ability to spend gems to get better chances at dragons and their were only super rare ones available for only gems. Think about it. We have the ability to get everything for free here but the last one. I have insane amount of free gems built up for when I need them. They have to make money to keep the game going. I have no problem keeping the great game going. Just my humble opinion.

Yes! I'm a bit afraid of that myself. However, I can't imagine BFS letting that happen. I've been playing DV since just a month or so after it started, and I've been extremely impressed with this company. BFS strikes me as generally fair, and very very smart. I can't imagine that they would set things up so that people who have purchased ME would be unable to purchase additional eggs needed to get the island. Leaving purchasers high and dry would be a lose/lose. I've never seen BFS be that dumb.

Oh! I thought I had read all the posts in this thread, but I didn't know that. Thanks!
At my age I'm aware that just about everything is ephemeral unless you're a pyramid architect, but pixels seem especially wispy.
Completeness has always been a goal for me in DV, but it is gradually slipping away. I have two of each dragon, maximum habitats and islands, but I did stop filling out the egg collection when they changed the breeding rules Maybe the island is another thing to let go.
Or maybe I need to think like a Tibetan monk building a mandala...
Using Crumble608's awesome knowledge on the amount of ME per glass piece, I need approx 600 ME to complete the island in my second park. So with a small purchase (after I have collected all the available eggs) I'll make it in that park too.
I am also managing my Mum's park (on my husband's iPad) and she is nearly there too, I may need to help out with a top up, but it's within reach. It was my Mum that introduced me to the game, she started playing in March 2012 (a few months before me), her iPad won't load Game Center, hence she can't play DV I'd hate her to miss out on the island. We've tried everything to get it to work, but Game Center just won't load it's just a white blank screen
Anyway, for those of you torn on whether to make real money purchases... I justify spending money on pixels by comparing it with other luxury purchases. For example, going to the cinema, buying chocolate - one I especially like to use with my husband is the money he spends on beer per year (I don't drink), this one always shuts him up

Well, I have like 10 eggs left to aquire my second Ovalith, and I am debating if I want to purchase two 900 egg packs now that they are on sale, and get the island. With my current park layout, it would be awesome to have the Gemstone habitat w/ 2 Ovaliths + my Special Dark/Light habitats w/ the respective Rift Dragons + maybe all Gemstone eggs there. The question is whether or not I want to pay the money. Currently I am thinking yes, but could somebody that has the island create a grid or something showing the actual size of the island? That would be appreciated
Just visited noodles' park : it's a sqare of 15 x 15 fields.
Oh, that's interesting! I supposed it would be a non-square, like the other islands. Seems like I won't be able to fit all I want to have there, at least not with my current layout. I will have to think about it. At least I have 2 days left

In reply I am on android os...seems mine resets st nidnite instead of the usual 8pm for regular park stuff.... no plasma after two weeks. No terradeim and I have tried since the announcement with . Level 16 in ebs am really frustrsted I didnt get garnet and had to buy lapis. IMHO they have swung pendulum the other waay and now it is too hard to breed! Am at level 37 so finally passed my "lost" park.
Agree with Poppy...want this to be a complete park but difficult to hit a moving target.also agrre will bite bullet and put real cash to island but dont like having to... just rambling...

(Very pretty, Viviane!) ...
I am a bit dismayed that the largest bundle of eggs available is 900. I haven't deposited any eggs since redeeming my second dragon and there's no way I can get to 1100 eggs on my own by the end of the weekend so my decision is made.

I've got my two dragons but as I'm not working atm there's no way I can buy the island. I bought gems for the breeding island but that's about as far as I can justify for now. Really pleased to have got both dragons though!

It's okay. I hope BFS makes their financial goal.
You wouldn't want to buy the bigger bundle of Magic Eggs, though. It was originally 1250 ME for $24.99, so would be 2500 magic eggs at same price with the double special.

Which brings up something that I'm curious about...
When they end DV will the game simply disappear? Or will you be able to view it and not play it? It would be nice to have a souvenir - perhaps the ability to capture a screenshot of the full game and print it up. Or Hasbro could offer to create high quality prints for a fee. Would be a nice way to take care of players and generate revenues at the same time. Maybe even a package deal with a stufftie of yor favorite dragon.

Does anyone know what will happen to out ME that we have gathered and just not been able to hit out goal of the Easter Island? I want to get it, but I know I will miss it by about 900 ME.....but if I buy it, that means so will my husband.....then we have the 3 kids who want it just as much.......so it adds up quickly!
I've heard rumors that the ME will be exchanged for gems in some fashion.....does anyone know? And if so, do we keep the ME in our basket, or do we turn them in as we collect them to make sure we get to participate in the ME/gem exchange?

From what I read on this thread pages ago, used eggs will be exchanged against gems at a value of 5 eggs for 1 gem.
Your new island is beautiful. It considerably weakens my resolve about not pungling up for one.

Thanks Poppy I admit, i have invested quite above reason in DV, but ... I do not have any other costy luxury so ... What the heck. I must say that if they replace DV with another version (more profit making for them probably) i will not turn to that and would be very very upset if they just cancel DV or delete it. Even if there is nothing to breed or add anymore, i like looking at this little fantasy world and observing all the dragons and wizards/visitors. I know, DV probably takes a lot of servers room and they could use it for some other game(s) and make the money Hasbro is expecting, but they won t have me as a customer anymore, and this would probably also be the case for other DV players.
