The wizard replaces the Magic Eggs every 11 hours, however, I did just get 25 ME for the Colosseum. That was separate from my ME for the day! I have purchased a lot of gems in the time I began playing, but the Ovalith dragon is so cute, I hope I can get one without buying points.

Correct. I just got silver (20 eggs) in the coliseum with a level 16 Cotton. It looks like I need to level up. One of my granddaughters only has 3 friends so she won't get the max eggs possible for party hats. I was able to max out her eggs from treats and habitats with a lot of dragon snaps and her small plant habitats. She should have enough money in about a week for her 4th island so she'll be able to clear that for a few points.
I stopped guessing and did the math. Assuming 125 eggs/day (20 hats + 40 treats + 40 habitats + 25 colliseum gold), it takes 8 days to get 1000 eggs. With the 50 we got to start, we will have accumulated 2050 eggs at the end of day 16. That's enough for the first 5 prizes with room to spare.
If the event goes through 4/30 that's 21 days so we would have 2675 eggs. The max purchase is 1250 eggs for $24.99. That would bring us to 3925 eggs, still 75 short so that's an additional $1.99.
I didn't count eggs from island clearing or any sort of bonus weekends because those aren't a given at this point. We need 32 days to get all the prizes assuming 125/day.

Personally -- a Gemstone Island that holds 2 dragons does not interest me enough to spend real money. I'll set my eyes lower.
It's not a gemstone island, it's a gemstone habitat... I believe the island will be just like normal islands (just prettier) you should be able to put whatever decorations and habitats on it that you want.

My egg timer said 23 hours after I had done my first sweep. I assumed that it was a 24 hour clock for everything.
Also, to anyone, do you think the timer resets automatically after more eggs are hidden or do you think we have to activate the timer by starting collection? I know I didn't start yesterday until a few hours after the event, and my timer hadn't ticked off those hours. Just something to confirm as we head into our second day.

From the appearance of the gemstone habitat, I am assuming that this isn't one that will be attached to the gemstone island, but a habitat like those used for dragons which earn DC instead of gems. So you'd be able to put this habitat on whichever island you choose (except the gemstone island), including hopefully the Lost Island.

Just out of interest, what is the maximum everyone has managed to collect so far not including any purchases? I seem to have stalled at 125 (or 175 if you include the 50 they start you off with). I got 25 with gold in the colosseum and the rest is from party hats, treats and habitats. Unfortunately I don't have any islands left to clear I didn't get anything at all with my morning sweep.
Still breeding for:
1st Dragon - Delirium, Monolith 5, Ortreat, Comet, Eridanian. 2nd Dragon - All of the above, Faire, Darkling, Loot, Lycan, Spectre, Trick. Pedestals - All of the above, Snowflake 5.

Fourth sweep in a row with no eggs--and this one came in the morning, many hours after the last. There's definitely a cap there, and it's a very low one. I'm willing to bet I get no more eggs from habitats until the counter resets later today.

Try crowning the dragons, and only those dragons, and use them for the Colosseum. I crowned a paper and a liberty which covers all elements but water, and for weeks now I've gotten gold every time.

I am with you. For now, my eyes are on at least one of the Ovalith dragons.
Since the rewards move in order, you will have to get the habitat before you can get the dragons. On another note, as you reach these goals the inside of the large decoration (counter, info, whatever it is) colors in sections and very well done.

Those extra habitat is a nice goal, but I'm not certain about my attitude to the island. The top with the grass and flowers is neat but the bottom with those formed stone eggs is very massive, ecpecially at the location where the island is situated at the moment. Do you think the island (wether won by MEs or bought) will stay where it is now ? Maybe it 'll get to the lower row at the side of the tenth island ?
Edited to add : And did you get that piece of information where the legendary dragon Lapidarius is mentioned (info text for the habitat)

I wonder the same as crumble. I don't like the effect on the gemstone island and seems to have made everything else look smaller
