Hi dragonv and welcome!!! I love the tales of children getting parents hooked on this game 😄 Many of us don't like the new requirement to have a FB account in order to have game friends, and many of us are emailing BFS regularly to ask them to develop a friending mechanism inside the game.... Maybe the latest FB issue in politics will encourage BFS to do that, don't know so what folk often do here is ask members to send a personal message (PM)and they then share FB addresses privately
Perhaps a good place to familiarise with the changes and shorthand language we use here, would be to read the OP ( opening posts, page 1) of each thread, and then the most recent pages, We've begun putting a lot of hotlinks (click on the pink/purple text) to helpful posts for each thread, so that often makes searching for information easier Feel free to ask questions in the thread relating to your issue, for usually fast and very helpful responses from the Valers here And welcome back!🐲🐲🐲

Welcome, dragonv! What Kiwichris said ^^^! It was my daughter who got me started with the game for the Gems... of course, she quit playing and here I am. I think we adults find DV a release for our OCD tendencies while the young ones have other outlets. We are a friendly bunch so don’t be afraid to ask questions.
I agree with you on that we adults are the ones who get stuck to the game. I know it is a bit hasty, but if possible what I need right now are friends to gift gems. Someone here friended me and gives me daily gems. That person has a huge park, twice the size of mine. It is impressive. I am so far behind.
That and coming back from many years ago, the park is overwhelming now. Takes time to understand everything new.

Do you guys like DVW or do not?
Anyways, that you for the welcome.
We have some dedicated threads for DVW we also have a thread for gem friending/FB linking, you may have to search back a page or two in the New Posts list
some of us still play DVW regularly, some occasionally, and many have left parks idle for a long while now; I think the delay in setting up guilds may have put off a number of players who were interested in that aspect in particular; I imagine GC demise (and BFS tardiness in developing a successor method of in game friending) may have had something to do with that...
Hello everyone! I’ve been lurking here for a long time (since last May, I’m embarrassed to say). I’m quite shy so it was difficult for me to introduce myself.
I’ve been playing Dragon Vale over a year, at least, but I’m not exactly sure how long. My main park is level 122 and my baby park is level 70. I’m not a completionist, though I would like to be. I did once see my Dragonarium breathing fire but I am convinced it was a glitch. I wish I had the creativity and patience to be a decorator... I just sort of do my best and have fun along the way.
I, too, wish BFS would create an in-game friending option. I only have one friend on Facebook who plays, so eventually I will create a fakebook account to link to the game. I’m tired of missing out on co-op breeding opportunities and am hoping to find a few gem buddies as well.
I will definitely need an application to the Utterly Rifted Club, please. It still boggles my brain! Will l have to write an essay for the application, or are there dues for the club? I have plenty of whine to bring to club functions!
I just want to say that I am continually impressed by how friendly and helpful everyone is. I’ve learned so much and I’m very sure I would have quit playing a long time ago if I hadn’t found your group.

Hi hess010 and many welcomes! So glad you joined up, and I love your first post 😄 The Utterly Rfited Club is free to all, no essays required, but increases in status (no cleaning of sulphur dragon habitats) if you add to the sum of our confusion at regular intervals 🙃 and you are sent a spell to open the door to the Whine Lounge if you bring nibbles or liquid restoratives 😈 May many 🐨🐨grace your park!
Grateful thanks for your warm welcome, Kiwichris !! I appreciate your compliment on my first post, too. As my first contribution to any forum, I mulled it over for quite a while (Hehe, perfectionist, much?? 😬)
I can very easily contribute to the sum of confusion for the Utterly Rifted Club, and do so on a daily basis. As an example: I didn't realize that we could increase the level of Rift dragons with E until I saw a post about it here on the forum, shortly before the cost to do so increased dramatically. 😩
Please consider yummy nibbles and liquid restoratives 🍻(ha, love that description!) on the way! I have an oft-requested recipe for chocolate-toffee bars 🍫 that I will bring to my first club gathering.
Happy to be here!!
(I couldn't figure out how to reply to your post directly from my phone, so I dusted off our ancient PC to try it from here. I still don't think I'm doing it right by posting in the "Quick Reply" section, but let's see what happens. [::fingers crossed::] Apparently, I have much to learn and figure out!)
EDIT: Nope, it didn't post how I hoped it would. Maybe I have to click "Quote"...? Will try that next and hope I don't blow up my poor computer! On another note, I'm proud of myself that I tagged you correctly. Hooray for small victories!!

Most excellent skills already! Yep hitting quote will copy the post you want to reply to and reply on the other side gives you more editing options... So many choices lol 😈Navigating newness, stave off Alzheimer's ... But methinks possibly the Rift brings on dementia 😈😈😈 Or at least 🤔and 😣

Welcome hess010! No worries about being a lurker first, I think it’s true for most of us. As for all those complements (friendly, etc?), you sure about that? Now, where’s my ketchup?
Indeed, I lurked for months before joining... and then to a lesser extent continued to lurk afterwards. It took a while to come out of my shell.
I also very much sympathise with the perfectist thing. I rewrite my posts a lot. It's why I get ninja'd so much. And then I get embarassed that I've spent 20 minutes writing 3 lines and delete the post.
But welcome! Come on in, we don't bite... Okay, maybe I do (look at all the teeth) but only when Rincewi- I mean, Kiwichris tells me to. ...Mostly.

I am certainly a suffer of Rift Dementia…😱 It's good to finally have a name for this condition. I wonder how long it will take clinicians to recognize it as a real thing? 🤔
I decided that I needed friends to help me get gems, and looked online[So far I have gotten two friends]. This forum came up and I looked it up for a few minutes, then "boom" I made a profile.
However I DO have the same problem writing. Many times I write something and then overthink it, try to make shorter, and straight to the point. But here I am resisting it, for it really is silly to take so long to write about a dragon game. But it is hard not to overthink it. [Edit: I have changed this like three times already]
Rift Dementia? Ha! I suffer from making a combos to bread a dragon and then forgetting which dragon I wanted to breed. Currently I know I have two combos, but can not remember which dragons I want. I Just hope to get "new" ones.

This's sooooo me! Hahahah!
Oh goodness! I can't tell you how relieved I am to see someone else say this! This happens to me All. The. Time. I thought I was the only one!! 😂😂

Oh my Wizards! Me too 🤣😂🤣. I currently am trying for a rifted plasma, but I don’t remember which dragon i need it for! 🤦🏻♀️
Me thinks we need to build a Rift Dementia wing off the west side of the north east corner of the Utterly Rifted Club House! 😉😜🤪

Arkynos, Everything you shared about taking your time to come out of your shell and rewriting posts to get everything just so totally resonates with me. I SO get that! Truly. I appreciate you sharing that with me, thank you.
My, what big teeth you have! The better for keeping rogue forum visitors in line, I would imagine! 😱

I seem to be 'touring the US hinterlands' at present; just unearthed a number of Townes van Zant recordings and am loving those, and did not know the full extent of his tragic backstory.. And have just started reading JD Vance's Hillbilly Elegy; had no idea they were/are of ScotsIrish ancestry ( so a link there) fascinating reading, his intro is very enlightening, and I'm only on about page 4 of the first chapter...had first become interested from watching Justified and the book(s) those series were based on.... JD also shines a little light, from a different direction, on some of the complexities that led to the current US situation. As I read i'm looking for smaller NZ parallels, cos I think it's a warning to the rest of us... So multicausal and nuanced.
I am not sure any country has the political, or maybe any other system, to deal with how the 21st century is emerging and shaping up Too early for deep philosophy😈

Kiwichris this is an interesting subject. I live in Switzerland which has a political system which seems to work quite well. I mean it start d in 1291 so despite major changes over the centuries, the basics are still in place: direct democracy (people can submit objects to vote one -of course certain rules apply-) consensus : 7 people in charge, from various political parties but all decisons have to be made by their colleageal approval. 4 official languages, each "canton" sort of province having a large autonomy for deciding on school system etc. Of course all that has a price and although salaries are high, cost of living is very high too. Shadow site: we have many many very rich people but also many working poors and elderly people strugling to survive. But all in all it is a pleasant country to live in, quiet and peaceful. But as you said, this is an island in midst of turmoil.

Yes viviane, I have thought of Switzerland when I've been pondering the possible causes; I think what began my thinking and comparisons was when I visited Switzerland years ago, and was impressed at the cleanliness and environmental respect and lack of litter: and wondered how we could achieve that in NZ and why it was so hard to... And from there segued into multi-ethnic vs single ethnic countries, and whether that was a factor, because as you pointed out, the rich/poor gap alone seems not to be Wondered if disenfranchised cultural presence was part of it, and if the TV selling that 'everyone' deserves/should have all these unaffordable things...and then the financial debt trap was a factor too. Don't know, just know it's complex. JDVance writes of the disappearance of the work ethic as a consequence of relocation from roots, and the resulting debt trap when the factories folk relocated to work in, shut down, leaving islands of folk trapped in unsaleable homes and with no infrastructure resources It's a fascinating book, and an easy read Also just bought James Comeys book; looking forward to reading that

A shout out to any Valers living in Hawaii with all the Lava dragon activity going on there; seriously I hope you are keeping safe. I imagine it's both genuinely awesome, but also very frightening 😳💛💚💙💜💛💚💙💜💛💚💙💜
