I'm gonna be ending with a total of 1433 candies at the end of the day. Ugh so close to getting that Dark Island theme. I don't really care about the theme, but it would mean I'm that much closer to getting the Nosferatu!
Yeah I feel the same way. By my calculations I should hit the theme tomorrow. And then it's working towards Nosferatu! Looks like the first Nosferatu costs a little less than the dark theme. And then the second Nosferatu is a complete steal!
I am on the other side of the pond, ie Europe and thus when the double candies started it was already evening here and most of my collection already done :/. But, i visited a few more friends and the first visit gave me 10 candies although i had already my two candy visits this morning. So it is worth trying and visit one more friend if you are in the same situation. Will try with egg selling (plant + plant) as soon as i have a free spot, never knows. Luckyly my colosseum only finishes in about 1/2 hour so i should at least get 50 candies. From memory, we have 3 rounds of resets covered by double candies ?

The timer for the purchasing double magic deal ends in about 2 days and 19 hours, so it looks like there will be 3 resets.
Glad you can still collect the double candies from the coli! You'll be able to collect extra candies from eggs, friends, and gems quite easily as those don't have diminishing returns.

I've been turning in my candies daily to reset my bank to zero before each day's collection, so I'm not sure exactly how many I've accumulated toward the dark theme. Is there any way to tell (i.e. an exact count in a window somewhere)?

I don't think you can directly check how many candies you have turned in. I only know because I haven't turned in any of my candies in since the last time I've earned a prize. But, since you need 1440 candies for the dark theme, you would need about 360 more candies. So yup, you should be all set.

Once you have turned in your candy and the Turn In Candy button greys out, if you click on it again, it will display how many more you need to get the next prize.
My Kairos was ready today, and it reminded me of a strategy someone (don't remember who) suggested during the Firefly Festival. In my game, the Candies reset around 11pm, but the Candy sale will go until 9:30am on Monday. So I am saving Kairos until Monday morning so I can get an extra round of longer treats and DC collection before the double weekend is over (assuming that double candies will end when the sale ends). If it works, I will have 4 days of double candies (minus the Colosseum, which doesn't reset in my game until the evening).

Actually you can, if you exploit the fact that the double event doesn't end until you reload your park.
If you schedule your Colosseum to end shortly after That Time When Things Happen (say for example, 16:32 UTC), you can open your park at 16:28 on Monday, then wait out the 4 minutes and collect your Colosseum with doubling still active.
Just wish I'd thought of that before the event started.

Now on my way to Nosferatu - goodness me the double candies helped. Regretting my coliseum finishing at 6am dangerously close to end of the 24 hour candy window - not good for sleep patterns.
First time maxing out on candies! 40 gems is a lot to spend in a 24-hour period!
My Colosseum is done 15 minutes after Double Candy ends; I shall attempt to leave the game open for 20 minutes or so to get double candies for the Colosseum. Fingers crossed.
