We had a request to create a thread showing the losers for each Last Call Contest. These started as I HATE (but really want)..... contests for monthly gem dragons. When those ended, the contests morphed into LAST CALL contests. Blame Myke, it was all his fault, waaaaaay back when. These may not be in order of dragon release, it is the way they appeared in the Library.

Technically, shouldn't these be the woebegone winners? I find it interesting that there is currently a 5-way tie for "Supreme Winner". Thanks for compiling the list. It is very interesting and helpful.
I love my vine dragon avatar created by ElektronX. Now, if only BFS would add it to the game...

A+ word usage Wapa.
I think what you really want is Wapatango: #1 Woebegone Winner?
Not quite there yet

No, I do NOTwant the title Wapa worst woebegone winner, I am not even in the 5-way tie, and I hope to keep it that way. That should be pretty easy since I don't plan to enter more competitions. All I have to do is get that crazy, non-existent ragnarok. Surely, it must be coming soon. I've made around 160 attempts now. I did figure out that GregDarcy must have managed to get past my defenses in some way. My wizards are working frantically to find the weak spot so that it can be corrected. In fact, I've offered a big reward to the one who discovers it and one to the one who fixes it.

THat is very sad. I almost want to nominate this for the anti-POTM award

Now, I have to admit that you have sparked my curiosity. I see that there are several parts to my message. I can't help but wonder which one is the cause of the sadness. Is it the awful alliteration, the decision not to enter more competitions, the 160 attempts and counting for ragnarok, or is it the sabotage of my park by that old pile of bones....

I am sad because you have decided not to enter anymore competitions. I do hope you reconsider your decision, and the decision made is only applicable to 2014
December is a busy month for me at work, and I have out-of-state companies visiting starting mid Dec hence my decision to sit out of this Last Call.
Thank you Pixie for the list. It is interesting to see. A lot of names I don't recognize, as I believe my first contest was Diamond. I also noticed that the Bicentennial winner hasn't been added to the list.
I'm not sure if the #1 Woebegone Winner is necessarily the one who won the most times. I think the most Woebegone Winner is the person who on average, based on the number of contests they have entered, comes in worst. If someone usually gets the dragon super quick, but won 2 contests, is that worse than never winning a contest but usually coming in 2nd or 3rd place. I'm not sure we really want to know who the worst Woebegone Winner is. That person might be very discouraged. I know I felt fairly woebegone when I came in 4th is 4 contests in fairly short order.
Added the Bicentennial winner to the list. The contests have been around for quite some time now. Was really fun compiling the list and remembering the good times of all those contests and great forum members we haven't seen in a long time.
I... er... initiated myself as a loser with my first Last Call (Daydream). Hate to admit it, though.
But as dilldog once said, the only things we win are losing contests. I challenged her to that claim (and, er, won). (See?)
(On the off-topic, I've always wondered about the origin of the wapatango ID. Y'see, "wapa" is Spanish text slang for "gorgeous". A run-in with some Argentine Casanova? Definitely not from an Australian arch-enemy...)
Very interesting list. Would be interesting to know how many eventually bred the dragon or ......... (Stares at floor) how many never got the dragon or gave in and bought during BEB ( confession over).

Hmmm...gorgeous...interesting, but no that is not where the name came from. I have been told I have a beautiful smile, but I wouldn't say I'm gorgeous, and I don't remember anyone else saying it either.
Here is where the name really came from. When I was young, I attended a camp called Ta-Pa-Win-Go. The name is Cherokee and means "place of joy on a hill." It truly was a place of joy. I loved it and went every summer, even volunteering during the summer as I got older. The mother of one of my friends could never remember the name of the camp. She always called it "wapatango". When I tried to come up with an e-mail address in college, everything I tried was already taken. My friend suggested I try wapatango. It worked, and that is the true story of how I began using wapatango as my online ID.

wapatango, beauty comes from the light within, and yours shines brightly indeed! You are truly beautiful, it shows through even in these pixels. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that it shines brightest here where so many other wonderful, kind, and helpful people come together - but your light is one of the brightest
And many thanks for the background, Wa-Pa-Tang-Go camp is now in my vocabulary as a beautiful place to be!!
iOS GCID EuroKnuter Friends ALWAYS welcome, but I'm full for GT buddies =) Rockin' an ElektronX Jet Icon!
Thank you very much dragonmagic1 & EuroKnuter. Your kind words brightened my day. In truth, I would much prefer to be known for my inner beauty than my outward appearance because only the former is of lasting value. (Hmmm...that reminds me of a couple Bible verses I memorized at camp.)
And yes, Camp Ta-Pa-Win-Go, or Camp Wa-Pa-Tang-Go , is a beautiful place to be. I am very thankful that I had the opportunity to attend as a child & teen. I have so many great memories, and it played a huge part in making me who I am today.

You haven't been to Spain, I see
There's a custom here called "piropo". Possible origin of the hot Latin lover topic (don't believe it). But paying compliments, from the politest to the funniest and downright most ridiculous, is a national pastime.
I used to laugh it off (though friends would come to visit under the pretext of wanting to see me, when what they actually wanted was the morale boosting, which some people found enough to fly back on without a plane), and lately harassment issues have made people more careful. But deeper insight into the whole thing would seem to indicate that certain places are traditionally inured to mass media beauty stereotypes (notable cf, Italy). You find beauty where you know how to look for it.
A new-found gender equality also implies women can compliment men. And you should hear what mothers say about their children.
So may I also say, I'm sure you're beautiful, both inside and out. I guess we go on feeling.

Nope, I've never been to Spain. That's an interesting custom. I want to make sure I understand correctly. In this custom you pay compliments whether they are true or not, right? Is that what you meant by "downright ridiculous"? Or did that refer to paying someone a compliment such as "You have the most beautifully-shaped toenails I have ever seen?" I am wondering because if the ridiculous compliments were ones that were not true, then I have to wonder about that compliment you paid me...
Thanks for the kind words.

I eventually bred the one dragon I was the winner on (Dream) But I did buy a second Dream when they had the sale earlier this year. It took me 4 months of constant breeding (often in both spots) to get the first and I didn't want to tie up the slots that long again.
