So... we are 12 hours apart! 😲 It’s almost 7.00 pm here (France). A 5 hours clock is now running in my coop, I’ll get another try around midnight (noon for you) before bedtime if yours is available. Otherwise next try will happen around 6.00 am for me, 6.00 pm for you... have a good day!

Ok that’s helpful for planning! Sorry to see all the fury and damage in beautiful Paris, hope you’re keeping safe. I don’t know all the causes, but am surprised at such a reaction to a green oriented petrol tax... but I guess it’s hard for many folk to think long term about climate change... Big changes coming for us all 😥

I too hope for peace - I have ex in-laws in France and friends too.
I was under the impression that the tax was an excuse, seeing as the amount is trivial compared to the sources of other increases. Also, I expect these very violent demonstrations to pick up in many countries moving forward (I certainly hope I am wrong...) but it has been long discussed as being possible in the tech circles given the change in business processes as we go from factory production to digital information. These transitions, which come about every 50-100 years and often result in war, are due to shifts in wealth distribution as the new money (tech giants) displaces the old money (factories).
Look at Amazon displacing book stores, then Walmart, and is now looking at moving into pharmaceuticals. People, from workers to owners to investors, stand to loose a lot on one side and gain on the other. This has driven some pretty serious unrest historically .

I’m not so good in English, not sure I can explain clearly, specially when I try to shut down to news, they tend to make me angry or sad... It’s one more tax after dozens, mostly impacting poor people who have seen their aids decrease along last years. And it’s a complicated situation because the movement is also infiltrated by the right extremist groups... And I fear you’re right: nothing good will come from this Anyway, thanks again for your help ❤️

Ps votre Anglais est tres bon, especially compared to my schoolgirl Francais, which now keeps sliding into Espaniol, my most recent new language 😂 It’s hilarious, whatever country I have travelled in, if I’m groping for a word, anything (French, Spanish, Maori, Turkish) might pop out in desperation! 🤣
EuroKnuter, I tend to agree with your analysis. I read a lot of quality dystopian/reality near future fiction/extension scenarios, and as with past literature of this type, much of it is unfolding as predicted. As always the top % of very wealthy continue to seem not to worry, and I struggled with “but what about your own children” and then realised THEY will be the ones in the gated cleaned air high rise arcologies, with ample artificial vat grown food, and the rest of us will be hard scrabble trying to exist on a blasted Earth... and then sometimes the worst case scenarios bring out the best in the human species... so I hope for that i think we have to change despite governments, cannot afford to wait for them Anyway, that’s messed up this thread quite sufficiently now 😈 sorry Cyn, shoulda taken it to ‘getting to know ‘ thread... 😥
