Ok so I know this is a complete change of subject. I'm not sure if we have any fellow riders in the group but I'd thought I'd post some pics of a little project of mine
The bike started as a 2008 Harley Rocker-C
And here is a lot of money, beer, smashed fingers, and curse words later
Thanks for looking. Hope y'all like
i HAVE A SOFT TAIL DELUXE.... LOVE THE BIKE!!!!
Awesome. I've always liked the soft tail customs. The deluxe has the benefit of actually looking good with bags. I've been sketching out a plan to add a detachable sissy bar so that I can carry a t-bag for long trips. It's tough to think about drilling into the thing now. I was pretty happy with the custom struts I built. The bike originally had the rear fender mounted to the swing arm. This helps with the look bc you can tuck the fender in tight with the wheel but I had a serious relationship at the time and wanted her to have a more comfortable ride. I also have an air suspension so I can raise and lower the bike.
The down side of building custom struts is now I have to come up with a custom sissy bar to fit. It currently doesn't have any mounting points to bolt one on but I think I've come up with a plan to make it work and have the mounting points look like a designed detail when i don't have the sissy bar mounted. My main concern is cracking the paint. I can deal with it if it happens while drilling out the holes since ill probably have to hit them again with paint and clear anyhow but cracking the paint/clear while torquing the bolts on is a big concern.
Great comments, Viviane. I wonder what future generations will think of our present day photos here in the U.S. as we all grin at the camera maniacally? We're evidently one happy group!

That is, if there are any present day photos, what with everything now being on digital media. If the media even survives any length of time, will they have devices able to read it and put it on a screen? Or will archeologists a thousand years from now posit that as a society we simply stopped taking pictures?
Tommy...
I wish we didn't live so far apart. I would love the opportunity to have a cup of coffee with you once in a while.

To my fellow Northern Californians, hope you are all staying safe & dry through this amazing series of storms we're having. I know there are flood & wind warnings all over the place. As I listen to the wind & hear the house rattle, I can't imagine going through a hurricane; this is bad enough. And, even with the amount of rain forecast, the area affected shouldn't be as vast as with Super Storm Sandy. That said, koala to all living near rivers & creeks.

Stay safe, you are in our thoughts. Check in when you can.

Stay safe Jeanette and check in when you can. Much luck to all that are living through these storms right now!

So far so good here. The backyard is flooded and the park across the way is flooded. A lot of streets are flooded due to the leaves clogging the drains and we've had a lot of accidents around town, but the levees are holding. It's a little disturbing to hear them saying they expect some cracks and flooding like we had back in the late 80s though. My parents have a place up in the Gold Country near Coloma and their creek must be a river right now. The driving conditions are conducive to checking on it yet.
On another topic, love the links section of the Dragon Tale newsletter Fletch! The line about Pixie showing her rear and wanting a new one made me crack up!

I'm not sure how many college football fans we have here but I'd thought I'd share and article. It started as a few thoughts I was going to post on Facebook and turned into a full-blown article. No, I haven't been to sleep yet haha. Im surprised I actually managed to write it all (on my phone none-the-less). Well here ya go. Enjoy! (I hope)
For Love of the Game
If you have eyes or ears you've no doubtable been witness to the heated discussions over the BCS bowl selection recently released. If you haven't been closely following the roller coaster ride that has been the 2012 FBS season, you may have been left waiting for the finished list - even as another show came on channel. Surely they couldn't have left four teams ranked in the BCS top ten out of a BCS bowl game, could they? While you're definitely not alone in this confusion, the unfortunate answer is yes. One may reasonably question how this could be considering the same organization is at the foundation of both the rankings and the bowls.
The heart of this confusing issue lies in a BCS rule that states each conference may only be represented by a maximum of two teams in BCS bowls . The quagmire is that six of the top ten are from a single conference - the SEC. Because of this controversial rule, four top ten SEC teams are left on the outside looking in; replaced by lower ranked teams. Is it fair to these four SEC teams simply because other teams in their conference also found success this season?
The rule at question was emplaced to prevent the whole notion of the "rich getting richer" by one or two conference(s) raking in all the lucrative purses that come from the corporate sponsors of the BCS bowls. This rule is a complete contradiction to the NCAA and BCS' constant claim that money is not the purpose of their arrangement.
The BCS was put in place to ensure the two best teams in the country were matched to compete for the national championship. While most would agree that purpose was met (perhaps excluding an undefeated Ohio State team due to sanctions), the remaining four BCS bowls are unable to achieve similar success based on their selection order. A post-season bowl game rewards and recognizes those teams that battled it out week after week and found ways to win football games.
College athletes sacrifice their blood, sweat and social life for the love of the game - often playing hurt and banged up from the week(s) prior. They do all this while also carrying a full class schedule with expectations of academic excellence. This expectation is challenging by design without the endless hours of practice, workouts, studying film, memorizing the playbook and traveling around the country each week to play the game of football. These student athletes put in the work and even with all their other obligations, managed to obtain success for twelve to thirteen weeks on the gridiron. The top ten ranked teams have earned the right to represent their university, community and loyal fans in a prized BCS bowl game.
Fortunately. there are changes coming in 2014 with the addition of a "Plus One" playoff system. While this is a welcomed step in the right direction, many of these players will not be around to feel its impact. College football, thankfully, is not the NFL. Players graduate or exit early and enter the draft; either of the NFL or the civilian job market. You could argue with the unemployment rate which path has the better chance of success.
So because the powers-that-be have replaced the purity of the game with greed, #7 ranked Georgia is left out of a deserved BCS bowl while unranked Wisconsin inexplicably takes the field of the historical "Granddaddy of Them All" - The Rose Bowl. Because of this atrocity, I for one, will not be stopping to smell the roses this bowl season. Instead, you can find me welcoming the new year in Tampa, FL where #10 South Carolina Gamecocks (10-2) take the field to battle #18 Michigan Wolverines (8-4). This is sure to be an electric year for the Outback Bowl - absent the BCS fat cats.
With all the controversy surrounding the BCS bowl selection, automatic qualifiers, BSC busters, and the greed of sponsor money, there is really only one question left to be answered...
Is it 2014 yet?

Cobus: I'm not a huge football follower, but I enjoy watching the games with my dad and sister when the family gets together. As it happens my team—A&M!—was denied a BCS game because of the circumstances described. My comprehension of football is very limited, so in terms of BCS all I know is that people really want to be in a BCS bowl.
Haha, I feel so knowledgeable now! Whenever someone finds out I’m an Aggie the conversation always turns to football. I’ve been struggling to keep “in-the-know” about this stuff.

I figured there wasn't many football fanatics such as myself here since I oddly didn't hear a peep of friendly trash talk during last weekend's rivalry games. If it wasn't obvious, it's one of my favorite things out there. A lot of people are fans of their respective teams by I really pride myself on being a student of the game. I can call most teams plays because I know their offense so well and know what they'll do (or should do) based on the defense's formation. I posted my article in a football group I participate in on Facebook and had a lot of suggestions to submit it to ESPN. Based on the praise, I went to their site but was unable to find any method to do so. The only contact option I saw was a website feedback link. I figured it was worth a shot and sent it in there. Who knows, maybe someone will like it and forward it to the appropriate department. The odds aren't in my favor but better than if I didn't try

I didn't have the intention on writing a full blown article. I just was tapping away at like 0400 and when I got done I realized how long it was. I was surprised I managed to type on that on a little phone

Cobus you have too much time on your hands. What is about men and sports? My hubby knows baseball like you do football if you ask him who played in the World Series in ... Year he can tell you the teams, who won and most likely who pitched. It's amazing to me. But ask him about a movie we watched last night and he can't remember. Lol. Gotta love him.
