Do you think we'll get a Quadruple Leap Year this year?
I kind of like the idea of it, even though I'm wondering since they stopped at Triple Rainbow. I kind of wish they'd make a cool new year of the dragon 2024 dragon that is like a combo of Leap Year and Panlong or something!

I like the idea of Quadruple Leap Year, but it would be nice if it had a different combo than the other Leap Year dragons (any 4+ elements) so that you have to target breed the dragon rather than with it being a potentially long fail along with any available Rainbow/Leap Year dragons. 🐉

I totally agree! We need some variety with their breeding combos!

I'd be kinda sad to see the tradition go, but I agree a specific combo would work well. I wouldn't want it to involve a Leap Year/other Rainbow dragon though because of the excessive results - one of the good things about dragons that require any four elements is that you can be smart about it and end up using a combo that only has very few possible results.
I'm not sure what I would go for though. Panlong would definitely work well as one of the parents especially since it would be released in the Year of the Dragon. Honestly, it could just be Panlong + fire element or something. I'm not a fan of elements being unnecessarily repeated in the second half of combos but that would still meet the "4 elements" tradition without it being possible to get it from every breed that uses 4+ elements.
Alternatively it could be 2 specific hybrids that use the fire, water, earth and air elements, like Smoke/Blazing + Mud/River, for example. Not quite the same as using Panlong but it's still the same elements, and hybrids are obviously easier to get than limited dragons, and plus it avoids the unnecessarily repeated elements problem.

Last month, I reminded Deca of Leap Year and DV's tradition with the Leap Year dragons. We'll see if they choose to release another one. For the breeding combo, if they use limiteds, it will be difficult for new players to obtain the dragon. It’s better and more inclusive when special milestone and celebratory dragons have element combos, so everybody can join and breed the dragon.
DV version 4.30.3 is now available in the App Store and Play Store. We do not know the contents of the update, except that it will change the app icon to the original (adorable) baby Fire dragon.
If Deca provides details, I’ll let you know. We likely won’t hear anything until next week at the earliest.

I updated yesterday. To my knowledge, all that's changed is the icon. It was probably minor bug fixes or something like that. Perhaps making sure that the twin notifications work for everyone.
I was very happy to see baby Fire return. I liked the egg icon but nostalgia is nostalgia, after all.

Deca confirmed the latest update (version 4.30.3) had internal changes and the Fire Dragon icon. Nothing that players will see in the game.
Panlong has arrived to join the celebration. He may be a tad late, but he brought the festive Lunar New Year decorations, Pagoda, Paper Lantern, and Twisted Bamboo!

There is a new feature in DragonVale, the Piggy Bank! It has been introduced to help new players, so it is only available in parks below level 20.
In the upper right corner of the game, you’ll see the Piggy Bank icon. Tap it to open Piggy Bank.
Tap the '?' in the lower right corner for a full description of Piggy Bank and how it works.
Here is the information provided
The Piggy Bank is a brand new feature in DragonVale invented by our wizards that rewards you with gems as you play the game. Each specific action completed adds 1 gem to the Bank, except for gem spending, where the full amount you spend is deposited back into the Bank. When you feed your dragons with treats, each level gained also contributes 1 gem. If you choose to level up a dragon with gems instead of treats, the amount spent is deposited back as well.
The gameplay actions that contribute to the Piggy Bank are as follows:
• Complete Goals • Breed dragons • Hatch dragons • Feed dragons (1 gem per level) • Compete in the Colosseum (capped at 1 per day; unlocked at level 10) • Spend gems (full amount spent) • Participate at Dragon Track (capped at 10 per day; unlocked at level 15)
There are three tiers of the Piggy Bank, each with different price points and caps. The first tier is available to all players after completing the tutorial. To unlock each next tier you have to purchase the previous one.
When you reach the minimum threshold of each tier, you can purchase the corresponding tier. However, if you choose not to purchase the tier after reaching the minimum threshold, the Piggy Bank offers you a limited-time opportunity. For the next 5 days, you have the chance to reach the maximum cap of the tier and get up to 480% more value on gems, all while the price remains the same. Simply continue playing the game and performing gameplay actions to fill the Piggy Bank. You can purchase the tier at any time during this limited time.
Remember, the longer you wait to make the purchase, the more attractive the offer becomes. But if you don't purchase within the time limit, the offer reverts back to the minimum threshold, and any progress towards the new maximum cap is lost. You can only take advantage of this offer once per tier.
Don't miss out on the Piggy Bank! Fill it up, get more value for your gems, and enhance your DragonVale experience.
Look at the adorable Piggy Dragon! Hopefully, he will be released into the Vale.

I'm normally not a fan of this feature in other games as the caps are usually small and the price high, but it looks like this is actually a really good offer! And it's great to see Deca doing more things to help out newer players!
I second the wish to have the Piggy Bank dragon be obtainable (under a different name perhaps 😅)! I REALLY want it, it looks adorable!

Piggy Bank sounds like an interesting concept for newer players. I hope that it works for Deca and it helps to retain new players. New players are always complaining that they can't earn enough gems, this sounds like a reasonably easy way for a very small payment. Don't even need to break the piggy bank for that. 😉
Piggy dragon is very cute. I hope that Deca can get him into the game at some stage.
I know there's a bug that, if the Ornamental Element is included in the breeding dragons, Ornamental becomes a possibility to be bred.
However, the Ornamental Dragon is unavailable at this time.
Despite this, I got an 18H timer trying to double-clone Harmony Dragons for a pedestal, which ended up being an Ornamental Dragon.
Is this a bug revolving around Ornamental's availability, or does the ornamental element breeding bug take priority over availability?
Whoa, I didn't know that. I can't wait to hear more.
--- Requests for the next event:
1. Will the Cotton dragon be made available to breed so that Bilby is a little easier to get this time? Last year I couldn't breed the Cotton, which I understand. Just wondering. 2. Can the Harmonious Habitat amount be raised to 8 or 9 instead of 7? Or if not, can we up the dragon capacity to 6 instead of 4?
How is it possible that I breed a Terracotta when the dragon is not availble? I used two Terracotta's to breed an egg and to my supprise I got one.
The majority of dragons can be a result of a breed if you use it in a combo. It's called cloning, and can usually happen regardless of whether you're using one or two of the dragon, though it's even more likely to happen if you use two of the same dragon. If you'd like to get Terracotta dragons, keep breeding those two together. If not, use different dragons.
FYI here are the exceptions to cloning
Kairos, Gaia, Ts'aishen, Bahamut and Tiamat can't be cloned because they can't be bred or obtained from breeding
Gemstone and Crystalline dragons can only be used in breeding (and so can only be cloned) during a mini event when it becomes possible but this mini event hasn't happened for years
Any dragon that requires a specific cave to be bred has this requirement for cloning too. Galaxy dragons only ever get cloning odds in Co-Op (even Lunis and Solis which can be bred in any cave only get cloning odds in Co-Op). Rift-exclusives can't be the result of breeding outside of the Rift cave so you can only clone them there.
Evolution dragons (see here, second chart, and this also includes Loveydovey) can only be cloned if you're using two of the same dragon
Due to a bug Monolith and Snowflake dragons can only be single parent cloned, specifically in the Rift. So if you're breeding for them in the main park, you have to meet their combos.
Also note that (1) cloning odds don't get decreased by the amount of elements in the mix according to the Compendium and (2) Co-Op usually has different cloning odds than any other cave.

The three Leap Year dragons just got released (for 2 weeks), though so far no sign of a fourth. I guess if they are releasing one they'll probably wait until it's actually the 29th.

The reps have requested Cotton every single year, and it’s never added. It will for sure be requested again in hopes there’s a change of heart. Duly noted for the rest.
