I dont usually join island deco contests but I was convinced to enter this island in DECAs recent one after I shared it. It originally started as a joke but I ended up decorating it a lot. I would've loved to change the weather and skybox but this was on a lower level alt without those buildings. I suppose it fits the theme "Magical Summer" 😆 Was a bit confused on the theme and if this even fits.

This totally fits the contest theme. Nothing says 'Magical Summer' more than Ikatako. Ikatamagic!
This guy! Swimming in his private hot spring. What a life!

Why isn’t the image showing up? Followed directions in Help Thread like I have done before but nothing is happening. Hope anesthesia hasn’t knocked out some brain cells!🤯
I looked at the BBCode for your post. The reason why the image isn’t showing is due to the image’s URL you’ve added to the post. Imgur provides two URLs for each image. One is a link to the pic on Imgur, and the other is the embed link so you can share the image elsewhere and used Imgur as a host. You want the second link.
If you’re using the Imgur app
On the Imgur app, tap on the image you uploaded to open it. Long press on the image and select the embed link. It is called 'Post Link'. Copy the 'Post Link', not the 'Link'.
TIP: Another easy way to tell if you have the correct link — the URL should end with .jpg, .png, or another image file.
If you’re on a PC
Click on the image you uploaded to open it. In the upper right corner, there are three dots (Copy Link). Click on it and a dropdown menu will show, select 'Get share links'. Go to 'BBCode (Forums)' and Copy Link. Paste this directly into your post. You do not need to use the Insert Image button on the Forum’s posting page, because the BBCode has been added to the link.

This island completely tells its story in the design — perfect!
The Sun Kissed Sands Resort is a summer holiday destination! I love how Spinky is bobbing in the water 🥰. And baby Crawler is so adorable 😍.
Notes: The cartoonish dragons have never been my favorites. DECA’s release of Jackpot inspired Glitter Gulch, and taking all the clownish dragons out of hibernation. Glitter Gulch is one of many nicknames for Las Vegas, a major gambling spot in the U.S. If you visit my park and click on the dragons …they are named for famous clowns and comedians. The heavy metal dragon is Metallica, and Treble (aka Trouble) just looks like an old rocker who may just be that way, or has used a little too much of whatever, the name has no reference to any musician, living or dead. No disrespect is intended to any person, living or dead, who may have a namesake in my tales of DragonDell.
The Olympus Group is owned and operated by the Vegas Family. Auri and Lotti Vegas, (along with their twins, Jackson and Jacqui) began by sponsoring the Galactic Games and later added Dragon Races and casino style entertainment. The twins showed an early aptitude for business and mathematics. Jack was particularly interested in probability and game theory. His expertise in the casinos soon earned him the name Jackpot, and a ban from the casinos. His twin Jacqui was more focused on the business aspect of the resort. Together they came up with a plan to eliminate taxes for DragonDell by becoming a charitable entity. All profits go to the community and its schools. The people play no more than their taxes would have been, no one loses, and sometimes there is a Jackpot! And Jack is allowed in the casinos again!
Today in addition to the Galactic Games, Dragon Races, and casinos; there are restaurants, hotels, and entertainment venues. The main stage features live concerts by such artists as Metallica and Treble. DragonDellians love to laugh and there are stages for comedians and clowns. Circus style rides add entertainment for the whole family. There is even a wedding chapel in honor of an old tradition of getting married in Glitter Gulch, often after imbibing a tad too much of it’s famous herbal butterbrew.
After the success of Glitter Gulch, Jack and Jacqui delved more deeply into the field of mathematics and devised a teaching method called Mathematica Magica in which 99.9999999 % of the population can learn all of mathematics (from 1+1 to game theory) in one school year. After attending a weekend workshop on the method, Mrs Murphy of the School of Spellcraft and Sorcery offered faculty positions to Jackpot and Jacqui. Jackpot accepted and became Professor Jack Vegas, while Jacqui stayed stuck with her business interest and became CEO of the Olympus Group.

In a time before time began …in a land east of the sun and west of the moon could be found a magical kingdom of dragons and wizarding folk who lived in harmony. Magical and wizarding beings flourished as the sun shone down on the earth with its abundance of plants and water. They called the land DragonDell. As word of DragonDell spread throughout the galaxy, many dragons, witches and wizards began to migrate to the islands. While most of the witches and wizards remained at the founding islands, various breeds of dragons from different biomes built new islands to meet their own needs.
As the founders worked the land their offspring explored the islands. As is usual with younger generations, they looked to the sky and wondered what lay beyond their vision. Knowing that these children would one day be beckoned to travel to other stars and galaxies, the community elders met in council. Most asked, “How can we keep the children, whom we love so dearly, here on the land with us?” One of the wise Dragon Grandmothers replied, “We cannot. Just as we came here from far away, so they must travel. Our task is to prepare them for that journey”. Thus this wise Grandmother, whose name was Mrs Murphy (an odd name for a dragon, is it not), was chosen to plan a school for young wizards, witches, and dragons.
The beautiful Valley of two Moons was chosen as the location for the school. Dragons, being so long lived and widely traveled, would be the faculty. Housing and classrooms would need to be built. Mrs Murphy’s plans were quickly realized through the efforts of a team of Contruct dragons and a lot of magic. The day before faculty and students were scheduled to arrive, Mrs Murphy stood at her office window in the highest tower of Old Main looking out at the newly completed campus.
Old Main, so named by an incomprehensible tradition of schools of sorcery, would quickly be dubbed New Main by the the new students. It sat on a low rise that allowed Mrs Murphy to view the entire campus, To her left as she gazed out the window, was the Astronomy-Astrology Complex. (That will be clockwise for you, the reader.) Her gaze followed a line of trees through the Forest of Happiness. She noted the Dartery (think owlery for messenger owls), several residential habitats, and outdoor classrooms in the forest. Mrs Murphy picked out the camping area, the Fairy Treehouse and the hump that was home to a family of Gnomes. She noted the Library, the Potion and Spell Casting Department, the Horticultural Department, and Mathematica Magica Building. The preschool classroom for the youngest students was next, then the Mechantronics Workshop, and the buildings housing weather and time control instruments. Finally her eyes came to the Olympus Athletic Complex and the Divination Classroom that were located beside Brum Quad where a few early arriving students were trying out the obstacle flying field. Mrs Murphy was filled with a sense of pride and anticipation knowing that the next day the campus would be bustling …residences and classrooms full of eager students …and faculty just as eager to prepare them for the future.

During the last Decorator's week, I decided to transform my pedestal graveyard into a pedestal garden. It took me forever (about four to five hours), but I will admit that the results were worth it. I have been adding pedestals I am missing whenever they are available during events.
I converted the extra space into a treat growing area, adorned with flags and treat decorations.

And if you are curious, there are about 650 hedges placed there.

Your pedestal garden looks great. 650 hedges - that is a lot of hedge trimming that is going to be needed! 😉

After six years of building and working on my Halloween island, my work is finally complete. Here's a look at the finished product with some close ups for detail. 🎃
I've also started a brand new Halloween 2.0 island. There's not much to it right now, but give it some time and a little love and I'm sure it'll grow just like first one. I especially love the new skeleton decorations and the creepy fog.

I adore your Halloween islands and always look forward to seeing the progress each year. Your use of the paths encircling everything so guests can have a close-up look at the dragons perfection! I love your use of the Spooky Fence and Ghost pedestal (might have to steal this brilliant idea!).
The Halloween 2.0 island is coming along splendidly! I really like the early, heavy usage of the Spooky Fence along the pathway. I can't wait to check your park in the coming months to see how autumn has affected your islands. 🍁🎃🍂
The Spooky Fence/Ghost pedestal combination came to be when I was running low on EC one year and didn't have enough for more fencing. During the first couple of years when I started playing, I always had a ton of Ghost fails every time we had a Halloween event. I'm talking close to a dozen every time. It was ridiculous. But their pedestals looked nice and I didn't want to just sell them without using them somehow. So I substituted fencing with Ghost pedestals. I like the way it looks so I keep using fails for decorations.
I also discovered a use for traited dragons as well this year. I got a Ghost fail in the Rift and realized that its glowing pedestal looks absolutely gorgeous, and the ethereal glow makes it extra spooky. I plan on using more of these glowing Ghost traited pedestals as my island develops and grows.
What I'd really like to do is try using Ghost pedestals and Amber pedestals to see how they look together. The Amber pedestals have a similar design and I think it would look nice to add a splash of orange color to the island in a unique way. The only problem is that Gemstone dragons are difficult to obtain. It would also be tempting to simply hatch an Amber dragon and add it my Gemstone island.
