Kiwichris went grocery shopping at Wal*Mart today. I always get apples, Fuji’s, if they have them. I saw some apples that looked like Fujis and were about as expensive I looked at them but they weren’t Fiji’s. The sticker on the Apple said ‘envy’ New Zealand. I thought “what the heck, I’ll give ‘em a try.” I don’t care about price, I bought a half dozen. After my supper I tried one for dessert. Wow! It was the best tasting apple I ever had. Just thought I’d let you know.

Just seen the extent of the Cali fires on the news; stay safe folks and all best wishes and hopes for RAIN; doing a wee rain dance for you 🌦🌧💧💦💦💦💦💦💦💦
Thanks, Chris! My county is fire free but all the counties surrounding mine are not. Lots of smoke, can’t see any of the distant ridge lines and sometimes not even the verge in the front yard! Making gardening quite challenging. Decided to open my gate to allow the fleeing wildlife a sanctuary. So far they have eaten all of the squash, some of the melons and tomatoes, and are enjoying the apples, pears, and figs, at least the ones they can reach. Oh well, we are all in this together. 🦌🦃🐇🦝

Thank you, Chris. Unfortunately, I'm in one of the areas experiencing a lot of smoke and fire. Our area was under evacuation warning for a couple days, and there were a lot of people who chose to get out the minute we were told about the warning.
I walked up onto the main road to get a better look at the plume of smoke rising over the hills, while my significant other stayed behind with the cats. And there were five hundred cars on both sides of this four way intersection, everyone throwing stuff in their cars and runnning, and even more people coming down the road to my right.
What's sad is that we have some victims of the Paradise fires in my neighborhood, and I was receiving messages from some of them saying things like, "Refuse to leave unless forced, not losing everything again" and "Victim of camp fire, please not again".
But right now we're currently safe. The evacuation warning was lifted and they've stopped forward progress on the fire. There is so much smoke right now, all hazy and stinking and gross. Haven't seen the sky for a couple days, but at least there isn't anymore ash coming down. It'll probably be like this until the rains start sometime in November.

We share our physical lives with those in spirit. For life, like love, never dies. Love knows no limits, not even death.
I hear our cuzzies the Oz firies are on their way over to help where they can..... 🌦🌧💧💦💦💦💦
Sort of returning the favor...we can always count on you ‘Down Unders’, no matter what 🙏
Here in Western Colorado we’ve got 2 of the biggest fires ever! One of them, 100 miles NW of me has closed I-70 for a week. The other, only 40 N of me is the 4th largest fire in Colorado history. The entire state is covered with their smoke. Hard on the lungs and eyes. I can’t even see the 10,000’ Grand Mesa only 20 miles to the north or the 14,000’ San Juan Range 60 miles to the south. Denver, 250 miles east and on the other side of the Rockies, is completely covered in our smoke. Luckily, we don’t have the concentration of population that California has... 🙏 for 🌧 or at least some 💨 to blow all this smoke away.
When I was a kid here, we never had forest fires here, NEVER! Now, two or three every summer.

Omg so sorry to hear that, the loss of forest and creatures, of all forms, must be staggering...💦💧💦💨💧💦💧💦 to Rocky Mt’s High too

Guys, I am so sorry for not sending out my usual gems.
We had to evacuate a few days ago due to all the fires burning in California. I'm staying with some friends in Nevada for the time being, and for a while I fell behind and couldn't send out my daily gems.
I'll still play and send out gifts when I can. I'm not quitting the game, I'm just trying to settle into a new temporary home until it's safe for us to go home. Of course, that's if the fires don't go through and burn everything down. But for now I'm safe, and I'll try to start sending out gems again soon.

I’m sorry to hear that! I’ve seen footage of the fires on the news and on social media never seen anything like it- so red! I’m glad you’re safe and w/ friends and hope your home is protected. How scary that you had to evacuate! I wish you a safe and peaceful return home ❤️

Thoughts and prayers are with all of you in the states that are blazing 🔥. On the news yesterday they said there are 14 states with fires. That is a lot of people, land and animals that are in harms way.😔 And a lot of very tired fire fighters 🧯.

That is a day I will never forget! Although we didn’t live in the DC area then, my husband did work there. That week my then 3 year old son and I went to spend the week with him. We were about 3/4 of a mile from the Pentagon that day. I will definitely join you in remembering and praying for all those personally affected.

My daughter sent us this picture today. I laughed so loud. Then I made it the image on my locked screen, so every time I wake up my phone to check the time, I see this. Like father, like son.

We finally made it home yesterday. The fire didn't burn any of the houses in my neighborhood, but it came very close. And now when I look out the window in my living room, I can see the hills around us have been burned black. The ground is charred, there are blackened trees and ash everywhere. The fire also wiped out one of the campgrounds up here.
These hills aren't going to be the same for a very long time. No more pretty green trees, just a small patch of evergreens to the south. Even the ground is scorched right up to the water's edge at the lake, which is all that separated us from the fire. If it had crossed the water, we would have been toast for sure.

Glad you are ok and home safe that your home was spared. What a loss to the area.😞
