A couple random bits of information:
1. Today I checked in about 4 minutes before the tickets reset, so I came back 5 minutes later. My game was still in memory and didn't need to reload. I did a bunch of maintenance, then went to collect some party hats; when I got back (and my park reloaded), suddenly I got the notification for the double weekend and started getting double tickets for everything. Fortunately there doesn't seem to be the diminishing returns (or not much, at least), so getting the 1000 tickets today still wasn't difficult. However, if you're close to the ticket reset and there's a chance for a double weekend, it's probably a good idea to force-reload your game before you start collecting.
2. I had 18 tickets held over from yesterday and managed to hit my max today exactly, so when I collected my challenge winnings, all 200 went into the BFS gift entry for a total of 218. I assume it will just continue to grow. It would help if they would tell us whether that BFS gift can be collected during the final shopping week, otherwise they're likely to be wasted. And what happens if the gift is larger than a single day's max? Does the excess still roll over, or is it lost?
I wonder if it is possible to get a Midday by breeding an Epic with Midday. It should be. I'm not sure which prize I will get first. I want Midday, Sun Theme, the balloon... The figurines not so much, just for completion sake if I have enough tickets. Any strategies? I'm not really sure what to do, especially about the dragons.
If you're patient, you could wait until more prizes get added to the tent. BFS has stated that the prizes for the current stage won't be removed, so you should be able to buy the figurines if you've got enough tickets near the end of the event!

I can answer your last question based on the last event. Back when 120 was the max to be able to be earned from friends gifts, near the end of the event I had friends who had gifted me more than that. So if I clicked on their name with 140 gifts, I received 120 gifts, and the amount that was stored from them dropped down to 20. So the assumption is we have one BFS gift of 3500 tickets, we can just click on that to collect the 500 each day, and the total will reduce by that amount.

Thanks to both of you for your insights. I was using the CBC for Jasper, but now that I got two (without spending gems, lucky me), I will try to get Midday by breeding an Epic or Galaxy with a friend's Midday. At least one of my friends ought to have one by now. But I will give it just a few tries for now. I still want to try to get a twin Ruby and/or a twin Jasper. I wanted to share hypnotic or malachite (and maybe get a jasper as a gift), but some friends still need a Delirium and I don't want to let them down. Well, maybe in a few days. Thanks again. I have a question about the Twilight Tower. What is meant by "it overrules the time of day for breeding some dragons". How does that work and is it a good perk? I'm trying to decide if it is worth {gaaak; hairball}!6000 tickets. Thanks so much.
After maxing out, the tickets from the Challenge Tent and tickets from Friends are "stored" in separate line items in the Social menu. I took a chance and closed out the competition in the Colosseum - got no tickets. I guess we knew that already.
Yeah. Maxing out happens pretty easily, which is cool. It means you don't have to worry too much about the Colosseum and other stuff. You can just play your game normally and you will reach the limit. I got there today without visiting people for party hats or growing treats, which is great because I find both of those pretty tedious.
But making up a store of tickets might be useful if we can turn them in during the last week of the game when we can't earn them anymore. 3500 should be safe enough to cover the 6 or 7 days that we will have. 50 a day over the 60+ days of the event will do it comfortably.
It seems they can only be stored by Faire Events, and possibly only the quest itself. But as that can be used for 100 tickets every day (200 on a double day) it's pretty easy to do. Just time it right to max out your tickets while a quest is going and 100 tickets will be banked for you when the quest is complete. Do this every other day, and only once during a double weekend and you will be covered. As long as you don't turn them in during the actual event, of course.

We are 3% into the game and you have 9.7% of the required BFS gift tickets. I think you are pretty safe to collect all the tickets from your friends.

So you got to 1678 in the name that Dragon contest? Did the extra 28 get banked?
Do you think because you reached your limit playing that game it doesn't bank the extra? Can anyone else confirm that they reached max playing Name that Dragon and the lost tickets? Or that tickets were banked?

It allows you to breed Sun or Moon dragons at any time of day, rather than needing to be at day or night. I'm not sure if other epics need that. Dusk/Dawn anyone?

I am hitting my daily max early in the day, but I receive gems/tickets from friends in the evening. Should I be waiting until the reset the next morning to collect gifts or are those tickets being added the next day to my daily allowed total?

You can go ahead and collect your gifts, the gems / treats will collect and the tickets will remain in your gifts until reset and you can collect them then and they will contribute to the next day's total
Finally got a chance to really look at the Faire island. I love the path in front of the wishing well and the lights around the tents. Wish BFS would put them in the marketplace.
