I've been thinking - the thing that was brilliant about the Faire was that not only could you pick your prizes, but you could effectively pick your activities in reaching the daily ticket limit. By tying the limit to the day rather than the task and then making the limit relatively easy to reach, you could earn your tickets in the way that was most fun for you. So if finding special visitors in your large park (or on your tiny device) is painfully frustrating, you could skip it; if finding party hats in your friends' level 70 parks is more trouble than it's worth, or if your internet connection makes the load times dreadfully slow, you could simply compensate with something else. They did such a good job with this that I found myself trying to max tickets in all four of my parks where possible, even though two of them I deliberately keep small and underdeveloped.
This new event, though...wow, what a difference. The high cap (and commensurately higher prices) is going to make this a slog. Almost every change they made seems designed to make it harder/more time-consuming/less fun. You can't so easily skip the tedious stuff anymore. I certainly can't see playing my smaller parks as much, and while I genuinely enjoyed the Faire, I think I'll be glad to see this one over with ASAP. It's rather sad....
Agreed. As far as daily gathering goes, this one feels like serious work compared to the Faire, even now that the delayed login and vicious lag from yesterday are gone.
I'm thinking our resident efficiency & numbers experts should be able to come up with a maximum candy for minimum effort strategy though that might make this a little less painful. Maybe? Anyone hit on a good strategy yet that doesn't involve having to grind out plant dragons?
- It could be worse if BFS models this event after the Star Fall or the Rose events.....etc
Think they are still finding the balance in DV.
Think I am spoiled by the Faire event though. Finding myself applauding BFS for keep trying.
- No expert DV, but plan to spend the 24.99 for a Bursting Barrel of Candy. Gonna do it now. I am flying thru this event.
Some friends touch your heart in a way that you can never erase.
Well, that depends on how you manage your devices. I worked in IT, where regardless of job title, leaving your computer or phone unlocked and walking away from your desk for even 30 seconds was grounds for being fired if the VP caught you at it, because the automatic timed locking feature was not considered adequately secure. With your job on the line, you got good at locking your equipment every single time you stopped using it, without fail. Or you found yourself unemployed.
Realistically, security and privacy are not better protected by letting the device turn itself off several minutes after you've stopped using it and wandered off. And I see people do this ALL the time. (It's a huge waste of battery too.) The only way locking a device is truly effective is if you get in the habit of turning that lock yourself by putting the device to sleep manually, every single time you're done with it. There's a reason iPhones & iPads still have a physical sleep/off button; it's faster and more secure than waiting for Auto Lock to work.
I know some people find it more convenient, but it's not truly more secure than good habits are, and for many people, it's actually less so because they get careless about leaving unlocked devices around during those vulnerable few minutes before the software lock kicks in. If you're not the type to be that careless anyway, then really, you don't need Auto Lock, because it's easy enough to hit that off switch. And I personally find that having Auto Lock on is a huge nuisance when it engages while I'm still actually waiting for something to finish.
Regarding DV, hopefully the fix is up and running very quickly, because they're definitely ticking people off with this one.
I too spent a lifetime in IT. Actually it felt like several. The advantage of autolock is that manual lock is subject to human error. Autolock is a backup procedure and independent of me getting distracted.
My iPad is set to lock instantly when I shut the lid. the time out is longer on it as I use it for browsing. My iPhone is set to the shortest possible delay. 5 minutes I think. Actually I think there is a 1 minute delay. But that is too short for most things loading. Not just DV. And the phone is either in my hand or in my pocket. The lock is in case of pickpockets and if I don't remember to lock manually. Hopefully they won't get it within the couple of minutes it is still active and in my pocket. I very rarely put it in my pocket instantly hence only a couple of minutes.
Must have been several lifetimes, i would say from the pile of bones that remains that you are well into your third life...
No longer active on DragonVale! *briefly back online*
Having trouble opening game since new update. Tried rebooting reinstalling game and still it stops near the end of loading. Help
This issue was fixed for most players this morning. If you've rebooted & reinstalled, and are still having problems, only Backflip can help you. Email support@backflipstudios.com and include your Game Center ID or Facebook name so they can track down your park and help you fix the issue.
Koala!
My load time is back to seconds rather than minutes.
So if the Twighlight Tower is set to dusk, does it matter if it isn't after 7pm when we try for Nosferatu?
Actually, maybe the better question is, can't we try for Nosferatu any time, since the event background is set to "nightfall"?
I would think so. I didn't have much time to check last night, and after running a few tests through with the Spooky Clouds without luck, I thought I should definitely go for the known quantity so switched to Dusk. Got one shortly there after. Will test the other BGs when I have some time.
I got it! I got it! 36 hours in my nest blue egg..... Got it with Lodestone & Mountain. Sanguinite Dragon

Went to enter my Candy totals from yesterday into the spreadsheet to discover I overlooked some code that had the max earned in a day still set to 500. I have, hopefully, fixed everything now. Same link will work.
oldsmol, I wasn't able to send one through to your baby park. I got a pop up saying "please verify the name and try again." Don't worry about it though! And thank you for the offer
Heh ITS THE GREAT WHITBEE CHARLIE NOGARD lol sorry for my bad joke
Bloodstone is up to naughty things again...
You know, i am just SO happy that we have another event to make us all the more convinced that the everlasting event has become a reality. Yay!
P.s for those of you who dont know, im trying to rein in on my negativity, so ive limited it to 2 lines...
Agreeing as usual.
On a quirky side note I found my self missing the searching for flag bearers after faire! Weird huh? Plenty to search for now! Have completely given up on obtaining one of every dragon. No BRB this summer as in the past and it's practically a new dragon du jour. Well all I can say is I have no stomach for soup! Sigh.

Platform: iPad Accepting New Gifts: Thanks friends; this game now a solid chore, no longer a delight sadly, so taking an indefinite break. Koala to all. Forum Name to Tag: kiwichris01
For those folk who are crunching numbers with a wish to develop a strategy to max each day; cos my park is only L35 I party hat daily, and have noticed the values increasing: currently dc is 12,250 per hat, increasing in value over time but not sure what time period, and 10 candies are earned on one only of the three party hats per park koala to all

Hi Kiwichris, party hat values are based on your park level. If I'm not wrong, this is how it's calculated: assuming your park level is x, each party hat will give you 10x2. Basically, just square your park level and multiply it by 10.
We're getting 10 candies from each park right now because it's doubles. Hopefully now that the load bug has been quashed, we can visit more parks and collect more party hats!

The Bring Em Back event has been in December every year since the first one, rather than summer, so it's a bit soon to assume for certain that it's not happening this year. (A number of us have suspicions about whether or not it will happen due to the introduction of the co-op cave, but we can't say beyond a doubt what BFS has planned.) And, of course, the co-op allows you to breed any limited epic out of season, so only a handful of limited dragons aren't available year-round now. It's not *easy* to breed every dragon (and it never was), but neither is it impossible, even with so many long fails.
As for the flag bearers, you weren't the only one to miss them! Once they were reintroduced as a bonus for Eldering a dragon, I blew through my entire treat stash and 3 billion in dragoncash just to level up a handful of dragons...entirely for the dubious privilege of chasing 5 or 6 flag bearers around the park every day. LOL I still like them better than hunting pumpkins, that's for sure.

My challenge is that I'm not getting a lot of candy from hatching eggs. It's usually a good source of candy, but with these long fails for the new crystalline dragon, the sites and nursery are very slow to "process" eggs for hatching. 46 hour bronze fails and 48 hour rainbow fails = no candy for 2 cycles. On the brighter side, it gets me into all the lovely parks searching for hats ... These friends' parks are spectacular!
