If you wonder where all the little ones went They gathered to see what I've built So curios, knowing of course how it is The old man's not succed this event
If he tried every sort The result was the same He sits gloomy in mind Just himself now to blame What is left is to sob and to whine.
Hello! I am new to the forums, lol. I just started playing the game about 3 weeks ago, so am very far behind in the gift giveaway. I can report back tomorrow if no one else does.
And, since I am here...can someone tell me if the event prizes are sort of typical for events? Since I have just started and made some rather rash ring purchases, I will have just enough rings for one good prize. Is the lost island a fairly typical prize...I am trying to decode whether to get the island or another dragon, lol.
Thank you! Though I have just joined the forum, I have learned a great deal over the last couple weeks from lurking.
This is my third event, and the format has been pretty much the same, except this one was 5 times as big. The last two had a single slate of prizes, with the bronze/silver/gold level, where a few of the prizes had been available in previous year events, giving returning players a head start. As a newer player in those events, I was barely able to get the last level unlocked. This time around they all unlocked early for me thanks to that new snazzy omnitier super-layer. In each event you collect something (roses/eggs/rings) and buy prizes (or have them already) to unlock lower levels.
For a newer player I suggest prioritizing tools that will help you grow, especially the relic of the epics and perhaps the magical greenhouse. Next I would try to anticipate anything that might be a prize in the next event which would help you open the prize levels in that event. You can visit the DragonVale Wikia dragonvale.wikia.com/wiki/Events to see what was available in prior year events.
The lost islands are mini islands - they don't hold a lot. They're cute, and if you've played a while space is always a good thing. But when you're newer, the first handful of Islands aren't cost prohibitive to buy. Event habitats don't count against your total max habitats. But as you level up your max habitats will go up too, and it will be a while before you're really worried about maxing out on habitats.
However, there is an argument to be made that as it's your first event, you should get the dragon/decoration/theme you love the most. Something that makes you smile when you see it - consider it a souvenir/memento.
Thank you for your comments...maybe my rash purchases weren't so bad afterall, lol. I did buy the relic and the monument, a couple of habitats and even a couple of dragons. I think I wil skip the island and get something else. Thanks again!
Back on August 11th, both Cyn and EuroKnuter put up a Herald so I could try and entice him to come to my park. It seems that their Heralds were having too much fun to get down to business. But in the wee hours of the morning yesterday, 16 long days later, EuroKnuter's Hearld finally got the job done.
Once my Herald egg arrived, I decided to give Squall a try, expecting another long slog. First try. See Herald - that's how it's done - stop playing around with those double rainbows!
Thanks Cyn and Euroknuter! You're the bestest!
I just bred my Herald off of Euroknuter's Herald earlier today too!
I've got Gold in the CBC trying to get a Stygian, Valor x Zombie on the Island trying for a second Valor, and Cyclops x Squall in the cave trying for a second Squall (and having 0 luck... all Cyclops fails!). My blue-hearted dragon right now is actually Blazing Gale though... trying for twins with my baby park and anyone else who has BG and wants another. As soon as I get a second for that, I'll be buying the final house dragon I need, Mountain Sun, and trying for twins there too.
I think I'm going to rotate in Plant x Lightning to help with some short fails in between the long ones so Gaia doesn't have to do so much work hatching, but since Ivy is low-priority, I'm not in a hurry.
Whew!
I didn't realize we could breed Olympus dragons on our island. I've been wasting so much time!! I have tried for twins using my house dragon in the CBC but gave up after multiple fails. I only need herald and figure I will get that with the last egg:)
That's how I've gotten a bunch of second dragons this event. (Not just Olympics, but some Aura and Ornamentals I was missing #2 of as well)

Hatched my Herald, so breathing fire again, then received a Twin Squall (thanks RuthCarson!) and have a second Herald coming with my first try in the coop!
I need to buy 6 pedestals, and my Dragonarium will be complete again.
it's a good day.
And just three more dragons to get from 19 to 20, and I will have 1 of each hybrid to L20 (again) Blazing Gale, Icy Torrent and Hidden Bolt.

Weeeell, that's true, you may have so much status at home that you have whole neighbourhoods running round pasting up, sewing, typesetting newspapers, and generally creating little pictures for your posts here in which case SERIOUS REPECT!!!
Could someone tell me if it's really worthwhile to spend over 7,000 rings on the Magical Greenhouse? How many treats does it give you each day?
Also, has anyone managed to breed the house dragons in the coop? I've managed all the Olympus dragons except Squall and Herald, but from the list of friends dragons which are blue hearted, it doesn't look as if many folk are trying for the house dragons. Which brings me to my next question - will Backflip make the house dragons breedable after the end of the event?

They're breedable only with the same species (per the sandbox, it's been updated).

Thanks for all that. So I think I'll see how many of the new dragons I can manage to breed, and i think the Magical Greenhouse is a lovely decoration anyway, so will probably buy it in a final spend up.
Well, I have gone and done is. Dragon Cole ting has won out this event. Good news is a bread and was prized 60% of this events little critters, so was able to get them all no problem.
Also got island, habitats, and a little more. Now the question remains do I buy my missing Malicony or second epics... or, with luck, both would be good
Hmm. Maybe there isn't another week-long limited dragon after all.
If there is, it would have to be released either right now or tomorrow.
