I keep reading this is the final weekend to collect rings. But the event is on until September 14. So we have a week starting Monday, August 28 to just collect 1000 rings from our bank once a day totaling 7000? Is that the deal? And on September 4th we are done getting rings from our bank and the rest converts to food. Then we have ten days until September 14th to use the rings and make purchases? Is that it?
The dates are a bit confusing.
We get our last Gift tomorrow, but we can continue to collect 1000 rings a day from our Park until the 6th September, then the event ends.
We then have a week until the 13th of September to collect 1000/day from our banked rings, and the Prize Tent will remain open to buy things.
Then on the 14th, all the remaining Rings we have will be converted to treats.
Oh that is good news. Another weeks worth of rings, that's worth being confused about hey! Happy that. So it's possible we could get a doubles weekend on the holiday weekend? Don't mean to be greedy, just wondering. I am very happy with this event no matter how it goes. BFS is the best.

If your willing to wait for me sure, I'm waiting to buy since it isn't unlocked for me yet, so I am still holding out hope to actually breed a dragon to help unlock before I purchase or open my gift dragons.
My social menu seems to be acting up, I can't find you on the friends tab, even though I have a twin from you on the gifts tab, so I know we're friends. However it is showing you as being level one, so something is weird. Don't know what's going on.

So, I'm probably really late to the party in saying this, as someone probably noted this at the beginning of the event, but I realized something today in talking with some friends that also play the game. The theme of 5 houses... 5 Olympus dragons... And most likely 5 limited event dragons... Corresponds to the fact that there are 5 olympic rings, and the houses are even the same colors as the olympic rings, with each house color corresponding to one of the olympic ring colors. I was just thinking about sbf's comments about patterns, and regardless of whether this is relevant to it or not, it's a pretty cool detail that backflip put in.

Woah... That's another 7000 or so rings I didn't account for... Which means even more goodies I might be able to get.

Yep that has happened to me with several people. Sometimes I gift the "level 1" player and just hope that it still goes to the real acct. And sometimes I can find both the level 1 and real account on my gifts tab ( the real account is usually toward the bottom). And sometimes I can also refind and gift them from just the friends/visit parks tab. But yeah, gifting has been really confusing overall this event.

Drat. I should have figured that the last gift would be one of the dragons. I won't be able to play much this week so I made sure I spent most of my rings yesterday. I got all of the remaining dragons so today's gift is redundant. I wasted all of those rings that I could have used for decorations or other prizes. Grrrrrrrrr.

Ouch. For future reference, you can tap on unopened dragon gifts and it'll tell you what's inside them.
Back on August 11th, both Cyn and EuroKnuter put up a Herald so I could try and entice him to come to my park. It seems that their Heralds were having too much fun to get down to business. But in the wee hours of the morning yesterday, 16 long days later, EuroKnuter's Hearld finally got the job done.
Once my Herald egg arrived, I decided to give Squall a try, expecting another long slog. First try. See Herald - that's how it's done - stop playing around with those double rainbows!

Is there anyone here who is behind on the Giveaway Gallery, but has chosen not to catch up with gems?
Please tell us if you can open another gift tomorrow. I'm curious if you can use extra days instead of gems to catch up.

Hello! I am new to the forums, lol. I just started playing the game about 3 weeks ago, so am very far behind in the gift giveaway. I can report back tomorrow if no one else does.
And, since I am here...can someone tell me if the event prizes are sort of typical for events? Since I have just started and made some rather rash ring purchases, I will have just enough rings for one good prize. Is the lost island a fairly typical prize...I am trying to decode whether to get the island or another dragon, lol.

If you go to Help in the Prize Pavilion, it says that the Arcane Pentournament runs through Sept 6 (hopefully we will get a countdown timer so we don't have to guess what that means in our time zone.)
Under "Unused Rings" it says that the prize collections will be available through Sept 13. You can exchange rings for prizes and purchase rings from the market. There is also a note about collecting rings from your gifts while the prize collections are available, but the daily maximum still applies.
On Sept 14, all remaining rings will turn into Dragon Treats.

This is my third event, and the format has been pretty much the same, except this one was 5 times as big. The last two had a single slate of prizes, with the bronze/silver/gold level, where a few of the prizes had been available in previous year events, giving returning players a head start. As a newer player in those events, I was barely able to get the last level unlocked. This time around they all unlocked early for me thanks to that new snazzy omnitier super-layer. In each event you collect something (roses/eggs/rings) and buy prizes (or have them already) to unlock lower levels.
For a newer player I suggest prioritizing tools that will help you grow, especially the relic of the epics and perhaps the magical greenhouse. Next I would try to anticipate anything that might be a prize in the next event which would help you open the prize levels in that event. You can visit the DragonVale Wikia dragonvale.wikia.com/wiki/Events to see what was available in prior year events.
The lost islands are mini islands - they don't hold a lot. They're cute, and if you've played a while space is always a good thing. But when you're newer, the first handful of Islands aren't cost prohibitive to buy. Event habitats don't count against your total max habitats. But as you level up your max habitats will go up too, and it will be a while before you're really worried about maxing out on habitats.
However, there is an argument to be made that as it's your first event, you should get the dragon/decoration/theme you love the most. Something that makes you smile when you see it - consider it a souvenir/memento.
I guess I can say there are three teasers I've hinted at:
1) "dark dragons" (previously guessed, I think kenni042 was on the track) 2) the giftery. Will discuss at the end of the event. Virtually solved by mr. Bones 3) what I foresee coming in October. Never mentioned before today, although my past posts may have used certain.... terms that could apply.
So are we going to get Tiamat? Or maybe the chromatic dragons? We already have all the metallic ones - Gold Silver Bronze Copper and Brass.

This is the big event of the year, and a number of the prizes have been here before, or were rewards in previous events, eg: The Relic of the Epics, Omnitat, Spooky, Meridiem Habitats and the Greenhouse, the Figurines, the Chrysalis, Ornamental and Aura Habitats, Themes and Dragons.
The 5 House Dragons and 8 Olympus dragons, their matching decorations, the Monument, Olympus Reward Habitats and the Pylons are all new.
The dragons will be back at Christmas, and most of them are available in the coop, if your friends have them. I would go for the Relic/Monument, habitats and islands first.
