You can put 'X' in the plant / water / fire / etc columns and it'll keep track of the counts, and highlights the name of dragons you're still missing. The elements are listed in the last column, colored light green if a hybrid, gold for goldens, and red for opposites.
I made a copy and made one change -- I changed the L for light at the top of the column to I so when I see I in the Element list of a dragon it can help me remember that is "Light"
So the mnemonic is when "I eye I" it causes you to remember light?

All I've managed to get was quicksand, Bramble, and frostbite (but the frostbite was from mystery eggs). I've bred several combos, each day up to 5,000 E3M, and bought a variety of regular and blue mystery eggs. Not much luck. And just dark rift + lightning rift gave me every other option EXCEPT for darkling so far, which is particularly frustrating. But I know it'll take patience and I'll get them when I get them.
Quicksand and Bramble were from harvest + mirage, in case anyone wanted to know.
🎉🎉🎉Thank you for that combo 😊😊
I tried it out just cause I didn’t know what else to breed the options are so everwhelming.
I got Snapper, Fissure, Bramble my first 3 breeds 😲 and then a couple of duplicates I sold for for good DC. Then I got Abyss and Ooze as well as some pedestals 🤨 When I think of how hard I worked to get my park bramble 😂😂😂😂.
Anyways Thank you very much for helping me with indecision and it worked out great for me 🎉🎉🎉
With the demise of game centre I just started in FB to be able to friend people from this forum and join in on the fun. Please message me if you want to send a friend request so I know to watch for you😊, I never check FB otherwise. I'm deleting random requests way too many of those 😮.
Need?? Like another hole in the head, maybe but no you don't need them. But are you a perfectionist or collector?? Then maybe you do. There is the benefit that when making it a pedestal you keep the trait if you don't have said trait yet. They sure are neat with the shimmering they do but in some you can hardly tell unless you really zoom in.
Right now I have 3 sets of pedestals going. Regular, twins, and rifties. But the more I add the more I'm thinking of just keeping one set and getting rid of the rest. Mostly because of the amount of space the 3 sets will take.
This is what I was thinking. Im not doing twins. Rifts, I’m not going to obsess over or I’ll go crazy. It confuses me how to tell if you already have a rift pedestal when you breed a dragon because it will always say 1 pedestal and 2 if you have a twin. My head is spinning lol
In the dragonarium, if you have a twin egg, you have a gold border inside the rarity border. If you have a rift egg, the rift notation on the top left of the border will be gold.

This was driving me mad too, especially in my baby park where I sometimes breed dragons in the rift before I get them in my park.
Then I made an awesome discovery. When you open the screen to hatch, display or release/sell your newly bred dragon, tap on the little numbers in the corner and it will show you the ones you already have - like in the dragonarium. You can see whether they're normal, twin (gold border) or rift (trait showing).
That probably sounds confusing, sorry. Try tapping on the numbers next time you hatch something and it should make more sense!

I think it's a little too late in the going crazy for me. I'm full blown loon when it comes to my dragons. When deciding whether to hatch, pedestal, sell, or release there should be a number on the right side of the icon saying how many you have. If you click on that little button a drop down menu appears saying where you have your pedestals. And from there you can tell if it's a regular, twin (has bluish glow), or Rifty. (has that blob/rift symbol). But beware if you have your pedestal in transport it won't appear in the drop down menu.

well I didn't think my post was much of a whine, but apparently it worked and my koala turned around! I've gotten snapper, tempest, and frostflower from dark rift + lycan. And in my secondary park, I got plains and infrared using harvest + ember or heat (I forget which).

oh awesome, I'm so glad my combo helped you get some dragons you needed! Hooray for spreading around the holiday koala!
Okay, so, a page ago I advised care when mixing elements if you're targeting a specific Rift dragon. There's one thing I need to clarify though: This does NOT apply to the new Golden hybrids.
I strongly believe that adding elements to your breeding combo does not substantially affect your chances of getting a specific Rare or Epic dragon, unless you add like 7 of them and overload the combo. As the Goldens (and the opposites, this applies to them too) are Rare quality, you should be able to double up for them as much as you like.
The rest of this post comprises the reasons why I believe this, spoiler tagged because they're not particularly interesting.
{Spoiler}Right, so, I believe this is the case now because it seemed to be in the past and I can't think of any reason why it would have changed over the last few years, breeding hasn't changed in any manner that would be relevant to the old data.
This is a testing thread from this forum a couple of years ago. It contains a spreadsheet with data from a lot of breeding results. The ones I find interesting in this case is the Firework dragon incidence, from Air and Fire as well as from Butterfly and Bouquet. The first is a two element combo with two common hybrids, the latter a five element combo with eighteen. Both combos give on the order of 140 Fireworks over the course of 1000 attempts. I believe that were Rare dragons to decrease in result rate as the number of results increases, there would be noticeably fewer Firework dragons from the five element combo.
This would be the case regardless of whether the Rare breeding rate decreased either with the total number of results or the number of Rare results in the combo. My conclusion is that that neither factor affects the chances of getting a rare dragon as a result, and the net chance of getting a common hybrid must decrease instead to accommodate this. I suspect that this will hold at least until the point where the cumulative breeding chances exceed a certain threshold where the Rare chances then have to begin adjusting also.
This can be seen if you consider the Ovalith dragon combo, with seven elements, and the number of rare results available from it. Evidence (from my own breeding) shows that it not only possible to get common hybrids from it but reasonably common; were the total chances to get a rare dragon not capped at some non-100% number this would not be the case.
The golden hybrids appear to behave identically to the other rare dragons in breeding, so I believe the Firework example to be relevant to this current state, provided that there has been no large mechanical changes to breeding dragons that has occurred since the data was gathered. As it was after cloning stopped being guaranteed, I can't think of anything. Can you?
I do think this is particularly interesting Arkynos!
However, I also partially question the conclusion. If my memory serves me correctly, there has been a relevent change in breeding rules. I'm sure I vaguely remember that if an epic dragon was a parent it would always be a possible outcome, but rare limited hybrids were not, so there wasn't more than one rare outcome from butterfly and bouquet.
case 1 was a breed with 2 common outcomes and 1 rare.
case 2 was a breed with 18 common hybrids, 1 rare and 4 epic.
From this testing alone, I'm not sure we can safely conclude that the chance of breeding a rare dragon doesn't decrease with the number of rare outcomes from a combo. It certainly doesn't disprove it either though.
From observation, during bring em back, whilst a huge number of rare dragons are available, I seem to be breeding more rare than common dragons. I suspect that there is something to the theory, but I also suspect it's fairly complex and wonder if there may have been behind the scenes changes with the introduction of gold hybrids significantly increasing the number of rare outcomes.
It would be fascinating to collect this volume of data again now!

The change where rare dragons add themselves to the results pool regardless of availability is indeed recent (I think it may have been this year even?) and you're right in that it does complicate matters somewhat. The data does not prove that adding more rare results to a combo will not reduce the chances of getting each individual rare result, I believe however that it does do enough to prove that adding more common results to a combo does not meaningfully affect those chances. It is noteworthy that adding the epics does not seem to have changed the odds. I'll detail some possible scenarios below, let me know if you think I've missed something out.
1) Adding any dragon to the pool reduces the chance to get every other dragon in the pool. - The Firework data seems to disprove this one.
2) Rare and Epic dragons have a fixed total chance of occurring, adding another reduces the individual chances. - This seems unlikely due to the BeB breeds. In simple breeds rares and epics seem to occur... well, rarely. A tenth of the time or less by my experience, maybe a fifth on the island. Complex breeds anecdotally seem to produce a lot more. The Firework data suggests that if true, Epics and Rares have their own separate total chance.
3) Rares and Epics have a base individual occurrence rate, unaffected by the other dragons in the combo until a cap or breakpoint is reached. - This is what my earlier hypothesis described. I have no idea where the cap would be, and don't know whether epics and rares share a total cap or have individual ones. It'd be easy enough to pin down the location, but difficult to determine the latter point as introducing many more epics into a combo tends to inevitably add extra rares and vice-versa.
4) There is a sliding scale. A pair of rare or Epic dragons may each have X% chance in a combo alone but if the combo produces both then the total chance is less than 2X% but greater than X%. - I think this is the scenario described in your post. Thinking about it, it seems inherently plausible. Depending on the function used you could see little change in individual rate with just a few rares as expected, then asymptoting with a larger number of rares and essentially capping.
5) A potential hybrid of scenario 3 and 4 where the total rare breed rate increases additively until a 'soft cap' is reached where the individual rates begin to decrease, thereafter tending towards a later 'hard cap'. - I have no idea how you'd test for this but it seems like a possibility even if Occam's Razor is against it.
Might have missed something again, any comment, correction or addition is always welcome. I would like to say that my point about it being advantageous to target multiple rares still applies in all of scenarios 3, 4, and 5 as the total chance of getting a desired result is still greater than if targeting them individually, as opposed to when breeding for commons where the opposite is generally true.
Oh, and my apologies to all of the people who think that I'm thinking about the cute dragon game too hard. I agree with you!
Finally bred one Frostfluff the other day and am breathing fire for the first time in a long time! 🔥🔥🔥 Still need a bunch of eggs and of course all the new rift element dragons. Hope to put a dent in them pre-event.
Don’t know how everyone else’s BEB is going but so far I have not been able to breed a single twin that I need. Tried for a half dozen different ones with no luck. Currently trying for Midnight and have bred three Midnights but no twins. Getting plenty of 24 and 48 hour fails which is really discouraging. Can anyone on my friends list blue heart a Snapper for me? Somehow I missed out on the twin and twin pedestal and since the longest fail is 18 hours it would be a nice change of pace from the duds I’ve been getting. THANKS!
Has anyone done the math to see at what point owning 40 Regal habitats in the Rift will not contain one each of the Rift available dragons? Wonder if BFS will expand the number of Rift habitats during the Winter event or wait until after. Should be plenty of winter dragons to fill them up. ☃️

11? My guess was 6-7, thinking that we would see rift versions of reindeer, mistletoe, coal, gift, regift, holly, and maybe trinket with the winter event that has been teased on DragonVale's Facebook page. Are there others you think will get rift versions? Or new event dragons? I just assumed any new event dragons would be non-rift limited hybrids, like the Halloween and Om of Noms event dragons were.
Kiwichris, Thanks for sharing! No worries on the timing as Arkynos is also sharing and I’m bouncing between the two of you. Already sent both of you a twin (NOT SNAPPER!) and now I am having flashbacks as to why I missed out on twins the first go-round. SEE PIC BELOW... and I had already sold two non-twin Snappers before I took that pic. This is going to be a long BEB...

Do you think they will include all the Snowflakes as Rifties? That would definitely bring up the total.

I was thinking those 7 + Flurry, Snowbrush, Thundersnow, Icebound
I've been trying for Nesting a long time. Tried Decay + Plant Rift, in the Rift Breeding Cave. Second try gave me Nesting!! ...and now the Dragonarium is breathing fire again.
