I was adding to my spreadsheet....are there 56 new ones? I went on a spending spree with mystery eggs and did really well. Most were traited dragons that I didn't have already and they were almost all twins to boot!
Except it is 57 with Shield. Shield wasn't on the news info, but can have traits per the dragonarium (even though you can't breed it.)
So basically all non-epics except the 10 elementals, the 4 newest event dragons, cuddlewing, ambrosia, and rosegold have traits.
Note that cuddlewing, ambrosia, and rosegold are all "love" dragons. So, maybe BFS is holding those back until valentines?
the reason ambrosia and rosegold are not rifted at this time is because of their breeding combos; there are not epics in the rift at this time. Ambrosia requires DELIGHT + FLOWER, and Rosegold requires ROSE + GOLD. So the delight and gold parts are unable to be parents in the rift right now. Strangely, cuddlewing is just LOVE + TREE, which could be possible so maybe they excluded it as well to be a part of a Valentine's Day event, but that would mean we would have to get rift epics before February (😰😰😰😰).
Also weird: shield is HAIL + HYDRA (we can't have a rift hydra yet), and Gargoyle is TRICK + any monolith, which also require epic dragons, yet I saw magpac has a rift Gargoyle from the rift mystery eggs. So I'm not sure why these two were allowed to skip through the cracks. An oversight, I guess.
Hi guys, this is getting REAL BUSY. For the extreme completionists, there is now twin rift eggs to collect. This photo is for the crystal rift. I bought a mystery and got a twin rift crystal. The new update gives me the option to hatch or display the egg, which previously not able to. Right now it seems only the original rift dragons cannot be twinned. SBF, time to get to work! LOL
I know! 😰😨😫😓 I definitely need to rearrange my gargantuan island full of egg pedestals, as there's no way I have space (right now) allocated for twin rift pedestals, but you better believe I want them. I'll be buying blue mystery eggs for a while! (I have gotten Bounteous from one today, which is pretty disappointing since only the tiny wings change, and I guess the "eye shadow" that dragon is wearing. Haha. You can see it here: dragonvalesbf.tumblr.com/post/168538117198/here-are-some-of-the-new-limited-hybrid-rift )

I thought I had gotten my egg islands all figured out too
Back to the drawing board I guess...Might be able to keep the organization right now as I included space for paths between the elements. Don't really want to give them up as it would look too crowded to me otherwise but I don't think I have the energy to both try for the limited rifty breeds and come up with a new design at the same time.
Hoping that this is the last major change for a while though...I need time to catch up some!

Woot! Hatched a Rifted Spirit; fab purple colouring....placed in rift hib cave cos no empty habitat space...and its inaccessible 😢 D'arium search places me back in rift hib cave, and round we go... Have emailed BFS But it's pretty! And I'm declining to feel jinxed,
Happy Frostival everyone, and may the 🐨🐨🐨 find happy homes in your parks 🎄🎄🎄🎁🎁🎁🐲🐲🐲🌿🌿🌿

I think I'm just going to hold out hope there is another Gargantuan island soon. We need one for normal/twin dragon eggs and one for rift/rift twin.
Think I stole all the Koalas today, got Rifty Bearded, Bloom, Epoch, Reindeer and like 4 Goldens I was missing.
Also, Coldforge is fixed! And not only fixed but fixed different from the previous dragonarium look. I'm guessing that both were actually bugged, the random splotches of Rift paint on it looked a little like Frostfluff did when it was bugged. The wings, tail and face-frost are affected now.

Anyone or Everyone Would someone be able to explain the benefit of breeding all the element dragons with a different rift trait? Other than filling up another out of sight out of mind cave I can't figure out the benefit. Is there perhaps one trait more important than the rest for each dragon? And I will never have enough food to feed them for breeding! Any explanation and helpful ideas would be so greatly appreciated.
Oh, one more can rift dragons breed outside of the rift?
Thanks in advance

I'll explain as much as I know.
Certain locked rift combos (for example Viridian) need a specific rift trait on the dragons being bred to work. For Viridian it is a Dodo dragon with a Fire trait and a Malachite dragon with a Light trait to complete the example. In this case these two traits for these two dragons would be the most important ones to try for.
The transfiguration tower is you friend in the rift to keep from drowning in the same dragon when trying to get all the traits. Once a trait is unlocked by breeding it you can switch a dragons expressed trait by using the transfiguration tower. For example, you breed a earth traited Dodo and have fed it to a higher level but are still trying to get one with a fire trait for the Viridian example above. You finally breed a fire traited Dodo, what you can do now instead of feeding the new dragon to a higher level is sell it, release it, pedestal it or hatch it (whichever you prefer) then go to the transfiguration tower to switch your earth traited Dodo to the newly unlocked fire trait.
I generally keep two of each breed of dragon and it I have one on display in the rift I either have the trait shown be the one I like the best (most visually pleasing with the dragon's design) or the one I need for breeding. Now that my rift has enough dragons to be somewhat self sustaining I only feed new species up to level 11 and don't worry about feeding duplicate dragons. I then try to raise the dragons levels through use of Tiamat and Bahumet so I don't have to speed huge amounts of food. This way I save on food both through not overfeeding the dragons when the costs are high and not feeding dragons I won't need (but still like to have ).
Completing a dragon species rift traits (unlocking them all) will make the rift symbol in the dragonarium highlighted. Otherwise there is no known advantage to having everything unlocked (other than feeling accomplished!)
Rift dragons cannot be breed outside of the rift. They can be used in breeding but will only provide their base elements and not the element provided by the rift trait.
Let me know if you need any clarification on anything I mentioned above! Hope it helps!

Traits you unlock when breeding are added to the one(s) you already have. Thus,no need to keep more then one of the traited rift dragons.unless you specifically want to display a dragon showing different traits you like. If you neeed a specific trait for a specific dragon and already have that trait associated to the dragon you can switch it in the transfiguration tower. Alternatively, if very impatient you can buy the needed trait for 10000 etherium. In time you wil again and again breed same dragons with different traits. I take what comes and do not try to get specific traits unless necessary for a specific rift dragon. There are now so many rifted dragons. Habitats get expensive and cleaning the dust even more so i now try just for one of each available. Will take me years lol

Geojenn and Viviane thanks so much for all the information. I can start picking my favorite trait on each dragon and sell off the rest , although I love the flower dragon with any trait, so cute as a baby. If I am understanding correctly, I can use already known breeding combinations for example a dodo dragon. And hope it has a trait. All of this is good to know. I have a lot of difficulty breeding any new dragons and have greatly adjusted how I play Dragonvale this will just add to my ease of mind and fun. Thanks again, love this community always find my answers here 😀🎄⛄️

In the rift you can use all the combinations which applied in the original game. Dodos are not easy to get so you may find yourself getting one but just not the useful trait. Frustrating. You can retry or when you are tired of retrying you can buy the wished trait. It then is added to the dragon forever. There are many tips on the thread to get specific dragons but you can also decide to go for a soecific element dragons and breding a "master" dragon like rift plant with rift fire and you will built a collection of traited dragons having those elements. Play around with various elements. You will then have a sample of traited dragons which you can pair. Sometimes i just throw in some random dragons just to see what comes out !
I haven’t decided how I want to arrange my rift. I keep going back and forth so I thought I’d ask for opinions. How do you arrange your rift? ......or do you even try? I realize you have probably talked about this before but haven’t seen it.

I do not try, lol. My one and only attempt was to put all my primary dragons on two islands side by side. Then I bought a bunch more habitats and am having to move stuff to fit them. Tmorrow i will buy the remaining 3 habitats, then will start clearing ether. Once I get some space I might think about arrangements, but may also just leave the chaos. 😂
Now that we have an influx of limited dragons which can have rift traits, it can be quite overwhelming. It's quite possible that we won't be able to unlock traits for all these dragons during BEB, so I thought I might come up with a list which can help us prioritise certain dragons based on when they are available during the year. Click on "Breeding List for Rifted Limiteds" below to expand!
Dragons which are only available during BEB take first priority, as well as the winter dragons. Then come the dragons from the Thanksgiving period, especially this year's event dragons as well as Gourd. (It seems that this year's Om of Noms dragons don't have breeding combinations as yet though...) Last on the list would be the Valentine's event dragons, since those are coming back in a month or two.
I'm not too sure about whether the house dragons will come back every summer event; it seems that they weren't available during the Roar of the Rift based on the DragonVale Wiki. I've put them in the Summer event section, but it's possible that they're also BEB-only...
Feel free to suggest corrections and improvements!

Rift Report for BeB to date:
For my first limited target, I picked Thorn. This was on the day that BF announced all of the gold hybrids, plus thorn and darkling. While going for Thorn, I also got Fungus, Snapper, Promethium, Acid, and then Thorn. (I had been just about to start breeding Dark hybrids in the Rift anyway, this is why four of my new dragons were Darks.)
I shifted gears for Darkling, and got Wraith, Spark, and Wisp. I even got a Darkling, but he wasn't traited
Then BF announced the huge new list of limited rift dragons, and I decided to first target what I consider to be "December" dragons. First I went for Mistletoe, on the way to Holly. This resulted in Forest, Conifer, Permafrost, Arctic, Frostflower, and then Mistletoe and finally Holly (just today!) Surprisingly, no Reindeer or Motley's appeared during this time
That's it for now, I hope everyone is having Koala in their Rift breeding!

I clear out the rift in a gradually expanding rectangle. I pack the habitats in a (very) rough horseshoe shape around the edges, and at one of the short ends is where I keep the breeding cave etc.
This is not necessarily eye-pleasing, but (imo) nothing about the Rift is eye-pleasing, and my layout does provide some efficiency when it comes time to gather Riftium.

I've been trying to figure out the same thing... for weeks, now. Arg! That there aren't any decorations to create clearly recognizable divisions/sectors, and having empty space between islands or groups of islands is prohibitively expensive, the Rift is a lot more difficult to organize than the Park. The island habitats all being identical doesn't help, either. My Rift is a mess.
After much consideration, I have a plan. It will take a looong time to implement... but (finally!) I have a plan!
At some point in the far-future, after having saved billions of E and clearing all (or most of) the clouds, I want to make clusters of habitats. Sections created by habitats clustered into several 'super islands,' with some empty space between each grouping. Each super island will each be defined by a primary type (kinda like the Park, since that is how I am used to my dragons being organized). So, a Plant area for the dragons I consider to be Plant-dominated (like Flower seems more Planty than Firey to me, Dandelion seems more Plant than Air...), a Cold super island, a Metal super island, and so on. I'm just going to ignore the traits and organize by dominant type. There will also be a section for the multi-typed dragons that don't have an obvious, dominant type (ones like Panlong and Sumi).
Due to the sheer number of possible traits for each and every dragon, and handiness of the Tranformation Tower, I recently decided to keep only one of each dragon. Otherly-traited get sold or traded right off the breeding den (I've actually made a ton of DC that way. Anything under 1 million DC gets traded for the 100 E, anything worth over 1 million DC gets sold).
That's my plan. It's a long way off, but one day it will be a reality. I hope. Until then, I guess my dragons will stay as they are: jammed in wherever there is an empty space in a habitat. After BEB is over, I plan to stop all Rift breeding for a few months and just save up E for clearing clouds and building new habitats. After building and expanding a couple new habitats, I'll start on moving and organizing the existing dragons by type.
I'm also hoping BFS will eventually introduce some differently-colored habitats and maybe some deco (like space trees, or rock formations, or something, anything) so each section can be made unique, as well as be more clearly defined.
