Yesterday's breeding during an Air trait day produced a Blazing with a Cold trait and a Smoke with an Air trait. Today, neither are "unlocked", if by unlocked we mean that we don't have to pay 4000E for each.
Did I misunderstand?
Yes, they mean that if you look at blazing in the dragonarium, the cold trait will be unlocked, and if you look at smoke in the dragonarium, the air trait will be unlocked. If you find the transfiguration tower, you can change your smoke dragon or blazing dragon's traits from among unlocked traits. The rift alignment is random unless you pay and there's not any way I know of to make it cheaper.

I have not found the Transfiguration Tower yet. My understanding is unlocked needs to be done for every available trait on every available dragon (that can have multiple traits)
However, once unlocked, they can be changed in the Transfiguration for free. (Is there a time cost for this? Don't know yet) However, if you need a trait you have not unlocked yet, you can also use the Transfiguration Tower to purchase that trait on that dragon (possibly unlocking it for future use for free)
I got a Plumewing from breeding a WaterRift with an AirRift (Rift Alignment was Plant). I got straight on the phone to tell my Mum & she did the same combo & got a Kampos (Rift Aligment was Cold). I'm going to stick with the combo until I get both & their pedestals and then struggle to figure out the other combos!

Now I'm really confused.....I'm getting dragons with a rift trait they already have! For example I got ice dragon with cold trait-it already has that trait!

I'm confused by the purple whirlpools. (Actually, I'm confused by more than that, but I'll stick with one thing for now.) Are there more whirlpools every time you log in? Is there a particular number per day?
Being stuck on Plant for the first two days of 'Riding the Rift', I was not very successful in the breeding department. Bred a Poison with Fire Trait and a Luminous with Plant Trait. All the others were regulars which I sold off. I will not pay 1000+ E to breed, especially for a plain Plant dragon. I will wait for the inevitable price adjustment and if all players refuse, it will come that much quicker. As someone else said: the jump from 220 to 1000 is ridiculous.
Clearing too much ME-fog at the onset left me too little of the Etherium to acquire Rift Habitats or improve the ones I bought. Since I was bringing Rift dragons over from the regular park things got cluttered pretty fast. It is a very fine dance to acquire open space, habitats, Etherium. You can't just concentrate buying habitats without clearing ME-fog to place them in or to expand them. Fine dance, on your tippy toes. Because I had moved the PoisonFT (Poison with Fire Trait) over to my O-park (original park) it did not show up in my Transfiguration Tower. Moved it back and also bred LuminousPT and here are pics of Tower changes from previous pics.

My main concern at the mo is a rising sense of hysteria at not understanding 1/nth of what all this is and how it works. I am in utter AWE of you intrepid folk who are working it all out and uncovering stuff and breeding stuff and moving stuff and stuff it I am soooooo overwhelmed. So, (pulls self together) I shall play my normal DV game, and dip a toe into rift, well perhaps a loooong wand specially made, from time to time, and hope that my tired old brain can slowly take it all in 😳 I May need to start an Utterly Rifted support group 😂

I'm confused with these new rules. Rift, trait, alignment, unlocking. What?? Its been 2 days since the update & I to am Utterly Rifted 🤷♀️ 😡! Exasperated at the escalating costs the explode upward instead of walking and don't reset. Discouraged at the atomic explosion of food costs making it incredibly difficult at a high level to feed rift dragons! Can't imagine being at the lower levels unless their costs are related to park level 🤔.
Since I am not coordinated (see above jump through hoops statement) I have decided to concentrate on building an adequate currency generator. 💰
Sooo I have done the unthinkable (to a hoarder at least) I spent 2 😱 Of my wishes on the largest rift habitats. Crowded them into my rift park & placed 4 level 20 rift dragons on them (2 of which I almost cleared my food inventory to feed up 😭) I have since bought 3 more habitats and levelled them up once. Then put all of my rift dragons except 1 on the various habitats. The one left in my main park I made sure I can use both Tiamet and Bahamut to roll for as well as carefully feeding. 🥘 Once my currency generator is providing reliable amounts I will start on the other areas of the rift.
Question: I would just like to know how to breed the rift element dragons I wasn't able to get through the event. Please if someone knows how I think my tortured brain can absorb those instructions 🤕
In the meantime I am going to go get a coffe and soothe my inner hoarder so I can look at my depleted food stores without panicking 😰😨

To begin: I am even more confused than most here asking me questions.
This whole Traits thing is even more confusing than the DV World Variants and that crashed and burned in spectacular fashion. BFS actually eliminated Variants after many players used much time and resources to acquire them. It left really hard feelings and I hope they get their act together and simplify things early on instead of pulling the rug out further down the road because players drop out. I think I speak for many in that all I want to be able to do is breed the latest Rifts yet it seems impossible so far. BFS never gave r0b0tr0n and his Sandbox its due as it kept many players from quitting the game in frustration. They need to support anyone creating a way to make sense of this new breeding. We need plug-n-play! At least increase the rate of success to get players started instead of frustrating them from the get go.
My advice: Take it slow. Acquire gobs of Etherium. Slowly start poking around the ME-fog and clearing it. I already posted pics of where to find the Transfiguration Tower, start there. As others uncover things more photos should be posted. Acquire Rift Habitats and move your highest level Rift Dragons from your O-park to generate more Etherium. I am going to take the whole Trait thing slowly as I won't get fooled again. Cue The Who... (for Kiwichris : Ha, got another song stuck in your head!)

I cannot find breeding hints for the Rift Elemental Dragons Earth Rift and Cold Rift cost 2500 Etherium Lightning Rift and Water Rift cost 3000 Etherium Air Rift and Metal Rift cost 3250 Etherium Plant Rift and Fire Rift cost 5000 Etherium (And were given to us on first entrance to the Rift) Dark Rift costs 10,000 Etherium Light Rift cost 15,000 Etherium
The House Elemental Rift Dragons do have Breeding Hints. I bought one for the good of all. (Spore because I am partial to Iron Blossom) Spore = Plant Trait + Plant + Metal + Rift (Spore itself only has Plant Trait)
I expect the other dragons to be similar. Alpenglow would be Lightning Trait + Earth + Light + Rift Blightwing would be Dark Trait (?) + Fire + Air + Rift Snowsquall would be Cold Trait + Cold + Water + Rift Voltaic would be Dark Trait + Dark + Lightning + Rift

Yes, that's pretty much it.
When you hit a +1 on a level 19 rift, you save 25 million treats. But since you have to roll a 20, you only have a 5% chance of succeeding. Therefore, the average value of each roll is 5% of 25 million. That's all that table is.

My Light and Dark are accounted for. Did you get them in the event or have them previously? Use your Dragonarium and see if they are there. If not, contact BFS through the gear in your game.
I was just able to initiate moving two Rift dragons from my O-park to my R-park at the same time. Did one and it let me scroll down to add another. Is that a change or was I just not paying attention the first day? Still can only move one at a time from my R-park to my O-park.
