If anyone needs to fill their rift habitats try breeding Spore plus Thorn in your main park in any cave. Breeding and hatching is instant and doesn't use Etherium and now I have a small Spore Army! 😉🐉💕
!!!
I love you for this. Thank you. 😘
They changed it just now, as I was in the middle of breeding more, but I think I'll be okay.
Now, Thorn + Spore sadly only produces basic Plants and Metals.

I am utterly confused with this new rift update. My dad got me this game the first week it came out and I've played almost every day since, but this new update has me completely confused and no longer enjoying it.
Why would BFS take the fun out of this game by making it so confusing?
tanyon7 , personally I blame all the oldies who were becoming grumpy and at risk of neglecting to clean out their sulphur dragons, because they wanted CHANGE , that thing that scares a lot of us 😜
The way I've managed the Rift is by doing three things; 1) just dabbled in the Rift- bought habitats, filled them with anything that will transfer across, then moved things around as I bred Rift hybrids., and collected Etherium. there's no rush, it's another journey. 2) remembered how incredibly confused I was with the Vale when I first began, and that was about 2 years after the game came out, and I remember the scrabble for resources, and how that used my brain to work out and change what resource gathering strategy was best at each stage of my Vale game 3) and I beg for help from this patient, funny, wise and generous community ( only my second online community, so I was learning about posting and all that at the same time!) as you've seen!
So it sounds like your understanding and skill with the Vale grew WITH the game; for you this might be a different experience, to enter a Rift world where a lot of it is already established. i wonder if that is partly why it doesn't feel as enjoyable, yet, for you? Just keep reading the tips the explorers are adding to the OP of this thread...
Stick with it, ask the community for assistance, or even totally ignore the Rift and just keep Valing along 😉 I hope this helps a wee bittie 🐲🐲🌿🌿🐨🐨

My limiting factor is always space on the Rift side, so more isn't better but this is good to know. I assume you can't release it for etherium or sell it for gold? If so, I sense a hotfix needed quickly.
Quil - it sells for 1,250,000 DC. 😃
I tried 5 times and didn't get a single Spore : 2 plant and 3 metal fails in EBI. How many tries per Spore did it take for you?
EDIT : I see I am not the first. Misery loves company:-)

What did I do wrong? I wanted to re-distribute my dragons around the rift habitats and there were spare spaces on two of my regal habitats. I picked a level 20 dragon and said 'move' and it was immediately stuffed into the rift gate to go the park!!! Now I'm going to have to wait two hours for it to get to the park and another two hours to get it back to the rift. Now I'm afraid to try to move anyone anywhere.

You can speed up the transfer using Σ.
If you wait 4 hours (2 hours each way) for a level 20 dragon with double Σ earnings that are active now, you forfeit 4x2x20 = 160 Σ, whereas it costs maybe 50 Σ to speed up two 2 hour transfers.

This is a good example why I check this forum quite often. I managed to get more than a dozen Spores at each park before BFS fixed the glitch. I could level up many of those Spores to Level 20 with the old feed rate. It cost approx. 10 million foods for each Level 20.

That's true. Better go and sacrifice a bag of e-stuff!
I got a rift sandstorm (earth) today too! I was trying for a dodo (fire) but this will help.
So wait, are we not able to clone Spore anymore? I missed out on getting one from the event, and I'll be even more disappointed if I was just a couple hours late to be able to get it via the CBC with my thorn... 😔 Please please please BFS....
skeeter622 Yup! You've ruled out layout 1 and 3. Go one more in that direction, if there's a shadow you're on layout 5. If not, clear 1 to the left. If there's a shadow there you're on 2, if not then you're on 4.
Oh dooo come with me to layout 4 skeeter622 , I need company in punishmentland 😜
Ha. I too have the dreaded layout 4. However I was able to use it to make a symmetrical habitat grouping without all the side excursions.

I feel like it's been forever since I was as confused as I am about breeding, and I think a lot of that is just lack of confidence in what I *think* is supposed to be true. So if some wonderful person could just confirm these following breeds for me, I'd be very grateful!
Spore: needs the elements of Plant and Metal, and Rift. Needs the trait of Plant. I can't breed Plant Rift and Metal Rift directly, so I need a hybrid. Plant Rift provides both the Plant Element and the Plant Trait, so I just need to breed a hybrid with metal in it somehow. Then breed the metal hybrid with the Plant Rift. Right?
But for the other house dragons from the event I need, I can just throw in 2 basic dragons. Like for Snowsquall, I can just breed Cold Rift with Water Rift and have that chance. (And that gives me a chance for Kampos too, right?)
OK and now for Thunderbird, it needs Lightning and Earth elements with a fire trait. So I've got a Crystal dragon with an Earth trait, so I just need to breed that with a dragon with a fire trait. So basic Fire Rift would work, right? Crystal x Fire Rift?
How'm I doing so far...?

That all sounds correct to me!
I just wrote out a breeding cheat sheet for myself a couple hours ago and came to the same conclusions (though my Thunderbird plan uses different dragons). Plus, you can double check everything in the Sandbox, just to be sure. All the Riftys are loaded up in there now. dvbox.bin.sh
Koala with your breeding!

I need a matrix that lists all Rift dragons on the vertical axis and all available traits on the horizontal axis. Then I can print it out and colour it in with pretty colours as I continue to breed rifts. The colouring in on a printed piece of paper with pretty colours is important to the child in me :-).
Perhaps beside each dragon name could be the elements of the dragon.
Probably best to separate out the one-trait rifts, actually.

Hi everyone. I finally just had to register since Mr Bones showed he had gotten 46 or whatever Spores. He must have been speed clicking. Anyway good for you Bones! I have been lurking off and on for a long time when I get a chance. You people are so kind and helpful and you're also the a riot most of the time. I don't know anything about communicating here. I only saw one box to post in and it says Reply. Is that the only choice? Any way just came on to lol @mr. Bones.and wondering what Oldsmol will have to say about the rift when he shows up. Wow this font is so tiny I need bifocles for my bifocles. Maybe it will post bigger. If not will have to find out how to change it. May you be swarmed with Koalas.

So Spore and Plant Rift are breedable on the non-rift side? (I'm a bit disheartened by the thought it could be a glitch...)
I think not any more? I haven't tried because I don't have Spore in the first place, but I think BFS fixed the bug already, so now you can only get Metals and Plants from the pair. Sounds glitch-y to me...

Did you make hand-written lists for all the events, or anytime a bunch of new dragons came out, of what you needed and how many, potentially how to breed it, and checked things off as you got them in different colors? I ask because I totally did (do...) and this idea sounds AWESOME.

Oh, yaaas. Color-coded charts.😍 I take my list and chart making very seriously. My husband knows my obsession with pens (and office supplies) very well. He got me a big package of Ultra-fine point Sharpies for my birthday a couple months ago. Limited Edition colors, even, to add to the rest of my collection. Best present, ever! Ultra-fine tipped Sharpies are my crack, and my lists are so pretty.😄
