Ok Arkynos, Magpac and Elf (and any other completionists out there):
Overall Goal:
There are 90 dragons that can have 10 traits each (900 traits); 23 dragons that can only have 1 trait each (23 traits). So 113 dragons with 923 traits!!
I have 50/113 dragons and 78/923 traits!!
What's everyone else's tally?
I should have mentioned that I have 3 Regal, 1 Refined and 2 Reputable habitats. Yes, I am collecting ~every hour and from the Airship every 2

I can't believe I did it! I accidentally released a rust dragon with (I think) light trait this morning, instead of hatching it first. So I missed out on the additional trait for poor little Rusty!

Check when you go back in. Many of us have done the same thing when we didn't need the extra dragon but wanted the trait and the eth. It looks like it doesn't work at first. Just go back and look up Little Rusty. He should have the new trait too.

You're RIGHT! I went back to check up and there's Rusty with his two traits. I was wrong about the Light trait as I see now it was Lightning. Thanks for that.
So I'm safe to grab the e-earnings instead of selling for dragoncash. That's a help, even if learning the fact almost gave me a nervous breakdown.
I've been following the directions posted by (I think) Arkynos, to get the first six dragons, and I'm wondering if similar helpful plotlines have been posted somewhere for the latest ones?
How is everyone organizing their dragons in the habitats? By their main colors/types, or by same trait color? Or putting all the same kind of dragons together (like all the Abyss dragons with their various traits in the same habitat? Or ??
Mine are a mess, just tossed wherever an open spot was available when they hatched... and it's so sloppy, it's getting on my nerves. Each habitat does have one or two of the highest level dragons, but that's the only sorting I've done. And I have no idea where to begin on organizing them, how best to group them all.
I did a few breedings today and tried for the Shadow and Mirage needed for breeding Lacuna. Got Shadow[water]. Close...but not quite right. Got a Mirage[light], too.

At the moment by level, trying to ensure I don't lose overloaded E when I can't get in to clear it, because of annoying things like RL 😆
Later, prob by trait, the Element dragons and trait offspring, and prob group house together, and what ever else comes along; but as the habs can't be decorated ( atm) I'm not fussed with look, just E efficiency, and I use the sorter to find what I want to use for breeding or switching to Vale for bathmat upgrades

I'm so not ready to organize but I like to hear about ideas for the future. Right now I just even out the earnings per habitat so they're ready to pop (collect) at roughly the same time.

SBF has written some suggestions which I thought were quite good, but I'll do some step-by-steps later when it's not 4am here. 😜 The opposite breeding rules are no longer semi-locked now it's possible to rift-breed them so I need to update the ones for Zaffer and Viridian anyway. The posted way still works but you can double the chance of the right trait on your opposite if you use for instance Lava (Fire) instead of Earth Rift with Blazing (Fire) in the Dodo combo, which is very much worth it.
I'm also going to write up a list of things specific to your Rift Alignment for the day to save myself from having to look up all the breeding combos for everything each day at 6. Will post that too. Don't know at this point which post will come first.

That would be wonderful Arkynos! And a huge help to all us non- athematically minded forum members. I can try to follow specific tracks, but am no good at analysing all the factors and making my own possible/probable results predictions.

I've got 45 dragons and 66 traits by your method. Interesting. I've had a lot of dragons that have more than 2-3 traits unlocked.
My method of counting is more like 59/900 traits, 3/8 new rift dragons (the locked trait ones), 4/5 house mascot rift dragons, and 13/90 rift egg pedestals of the basic hybrids and opposite dragons. Sadly I only have 1/8 newest rift pedestals (antumbra) and none of the house mascot rift dragons' pedestals.

I try to keep mine organized by the rift traits, and have 1-2 lower level dragon and 1-2 higher level dragon, to help balance each habitat. But once I finish getting all my habitats to regal, then I will work on getting them organized. Right now I just have 15 refined (3 dragons) habitats and 1 regal, I hope to get the majority of them regal before the double E3M week is over, that way by income generated will be much easier to breed, clear the fog, and eventually buy mystery eggs. Here's hoping!

BTW Mirror+Shadow seems to give you Light. Not Mirror. Not Shadow. Just Light. I don't think it was Light Rift either. Got 3 before I chose another combination
ETA (not the right traits. I've got a Shadow with totally the wrong trait and a Mirror with the trait I wanted on the Shadow. So was trying to move the trait over to Shadow while also trying to get the Rift alignment trait on Mirror...)

here are my notes for getting the (now 8) newest permanent rift dragons, feel free to add, amend, or ask questions :
•plumewing: supposedly one of the easier ones to breed, though I just got mine today. Really any parent + air rift should work, but I would recommend Fire rift and air rift during air alignment just to be sure.
•kampos: again supposed to be easy but I haven't gotten it yet. Apparently just any parent + water rift, but I would double up and try air rift + water rift for a chance at both plumewing and kampos. It couldn't hurt to try for this one during water alignment.
•ghast: you need light, dark, and one parent needs a fire trait or fire alignment. So you could try ember/heat + dungeon/watch (at least one needs the fire trait), mirage/shadow/antumbra/(thunderbird?) + fire rift, and during fire alignment wouldn't hurt. *thunderbird is untested as a possibility
•antumbra: you need parents that are light, dark, and the alignment MUST be set to earth. So I did dark rift + earth rift to get an earth cave, then earth cave + light rift (all during earth alignment), but others have done voltaic + light rift, or even ghast/(thunderbird?)/mirage/shadow + earth rift, or any light rift (hybrid) + any dark rift (hybrid).
•viridian: fire trait dodo + light trait malachite. -- locked combo Essentially 3 breeds required - So you could first do air rift or (fire trait) blazing/smoke + (fire trait) lava/obsidian or earth rift to get the dodo (helps during fire alignment). -Then the same goes for the malachite - metal rift or (light trait) radiant/palladium + (light trait) luminous/meadow or plant rift, helps to have the light alignment. -Then you breed them together.
•zaffer: air trait Bluefire + metal trait plasma. -- locked combo Similar to the procedure of viridian. 3 breeds required: -Cold rift or (air trait) blizzard/snow + (air trait) Blazing/smoke or fire rift, during air alignment helps. -Then water rift or (metal trait) rust/quicksilver + (metal trait) copper/magnetic or lightning rift, during metal alignment helps. -Then breed the two together.
•thunderbird: actually easier than it looks. I used lightning trait Quake + fire rift (during fire alignment) and got it pretty easily. You could also do earth rift + lightning rift with fire alignment, or fire trait scorch/firefly + fire trait lava/obsidian.
•lacuna: air trait shadow + water trait mirage -- locked combo -Dark rift or (air trait) howl/miasma + (air trait) wind/hypnotic or light rift -Dark rift or (water trait) ooze/abyss + (water trait) lotus/shimmer or light rift [Alternative breeding combos to get either parent Antumbra/ghast/thunderbird + air rift or water rift (depending on which on you are trying for).] -breed the two parents together.

I have 50/113 dragons and 78/923 traits!!
What's everyone else's tally?
I have only 13/23 of the single rift traits...not a single new one and I'm missing 2 of the event dragons (whine!) I have 20/90 and 34/900. I'm slowly checking off my tally sheet... I have 19 refined habitats and 1 regal. Current goal is to upgrade the next 19 to regal, which requires clearing about 127,000 E worth of purple clouds... I'm currently earning 609e/hr.

I just figured out how to post since joining a few weeks ago. Thank you for all the gr8 info. I have been looking at the opening picture of the dv app and the rift habitats look cold to me vs the habitats we have now that look metal/fire to me. Do you think as the rift expands we will have cold habitats or other element habitats? Also do you think the 40 metal habitats will then be shared among the cold or will get 40 more cold? Right now I wondering if I should buy until I reach ten and save the rest for new element habitats? Any thoughts?

Hi purplecraft! That is a really interesting observation! But I have no idea. vonfirmath ? N/A ?
1) Breed Air Rift and Cold Rift to get a Blizzard/Snow dragon with an Air trait. 2) Breed Air Rift and Fire Rift to get a Blazing/Smoke dragon with an Air trait. 3) Breed your Air Blazing/Smoke and your Air Blizzard/Snow to get a Blue Fire dragon with an Air trait. 4) Breed Metal Rift and Lightning Rift to get a Magnetic/Copper dragon with a Metal trait. 5) Breed Metal Rift and Water Rift to get a Rust/Quicksilver dragon with a Metal trait. 6) Breed your Metal Magnetic/Copper and you Metal Rust/Quicksilver to get a Plasma dragon with a Metal trait. 7) Breed your Air Blue Fire from step 3 and your Metal Plasma from step 6 together.
Viridian
1) Breed Fire Rift and Earth Rift to get a Lava/Obsidian dragon with a Fire trait. 2) Breed Fire Rift and Air Rift to get a Blazing/Smoke dragon with a Fire trait. 3) Breed your Fire Blazing/Smoke and your Fire Lava/Obsidian to get a Dodo dragon with a Fire trait. 4) Breed Light Rift and Plant Rift to get a Meadow/Luminous dragon with a Light trait. 5) Breed Light Rift and Metal Rift to get a Radiant/Palladium dragon with a Light trait. 6) Breed your Light Meadow/Luminous and you Light Radiant/Palladium to get a Malachite dragon with a Light trait. 7) Breed your Fire Dodo from step 3 and your Light Malachitete from step 6 together.
Lacuna
1) Breed Air Rift and Light Rift to get a Hypnotic/Wind dragon with an Air trait. 2) Breed Air Rift and Dark Rift to get a Howl/Miasma dragon with an Air trait. 3) Breed your Air Hypnotic/Wind and your Air Howl/Miasma to get a Shadow dragon with an Air trait. 4) Breed Water Rift and Light Rift to get a Lotus/Shimmer dragon with a Water trait. 5) Breed Water Rift and Dark Rift to get an Ooze/Abyss dragon with a Water trait. 6) Breed your Water Lotus/Shimmer and your Water Ooze/Abyss to get a Mirage dragon with a Water trait. 7) Breed your Air Shadow from step 3 and your Water Mirage from step 6 together.
Thunderbird (Credit to Sbf, who posted the simplest method upthread)
1) Breed Lightning Rift with Earth Rift to get a Crystal/Quake dragon with ANY trait. 2) Breed the Crystal/Quake dragon with Fire Rift.
That should do it. A couple more steps for twice the chance of getting the right trait on your opposites. I'm assuming that the 10k to buy the trait from the tower is still too much for most people, and I'm not factoring in the daily Alignment (here). You can get both of the opposites for Lacuna using something like Water Shimmer and Air Howl which is good too, works out much the same until you get one of the opposites you need. Swap one parent out to an appropriate dragon with the target trait of the remaining opposite at that point though.
