I was just able to initiate moving two Rift dragons from my O-park to my R-park at the same timeu. Did one and it let me scroll down to add another. Is that a change or was I just not paying attention the first day? Still can only move one at a time from my R-park to my O-park.
No, that was right from the beginning. But I think I also moved 2 dragons at a time from R-park to O-park.

...Are both showing up in the block? I'd be afraid of losing one!
I was aware of the 0/2 counter at the bottom but I thought that limited you to one in either direction at any given time. Nope. Here's me sending my Dark Rift and Cold Rift from my O-park to my R-park at the same time. That locks me out of sending a dragon R-park>O-park for two hours.
EDIT: I am guessing that wasn't available day 1 because I did not have two Habitat slots open. Now I do.
To begin: I am even more confused than most here asking me questions.
This whole Traits thing is even more confusing than the DV World Variants and that crashed and burned in spectacular fashion. BFS actually eliminated Variants after many players used much time and resources to acquire them. It left really hard feelings and I hope they get their act together and simplify things early on instead of pulling the rug out further down the road because players drop out. I think I speak for many in that all I want to be able to do is breed the latest Rifts yet it seems impossible so far. BFS never gave r0b0tr0n and his Sandbox its due as it kept many players from quitting the game in frustration. They need to support anyone creating a way to make sense of this new breeding. We need plug-n-play! At least increase the rate of success to get players started instead of frustrating them from the get go.
My advice: Take it slow. Acquire gobs of Etherium. Slowly start poking around the ME-fog and clearing it. I already posted pics of where to find the Transfiguration Tower, start there. As others uncover things more photos should be posted. Acquire Rift Habitats and move your highest level Rift Dragons from your O-park to generate more Etherium. I am going to take the whole Trait thing slowly as I won't get fooled again. Cue The Who... (for Kiwichris : Ha, got another song stuck in your head!)
Apparently, the Transfiguration Tower is hidden in different places in different parks. For an alternate location and ensuing discussion see this wiki thread.
Also, there is an image on the same thread of one location for the Rift Hibernation Cave.

Why should costs for clearing reset or get cheaper again? In regular DV they also never did. As islands grew more and more expensive, their obstacles to clear did likewise. I remember only one or two of the later islands with cheaper obstacles. It's the same with fog in the rift.
I don't think that's true. There were new objects to clear that were more expensive, sure. And some islands had more of them than others. But specific objects were always the same price to clear. Small bushes were always one price. Small rocks were always another. With the rift, the same type of object costs progressively more the more you clear. The equivalent with islands would be having one small bush cost 5DC and the next small bust costs 15DC and then the next cost 50DC, and then having a rock move from 50DC to 100DC to 500DC the more rocks you clear. That never happened in non-riftian Dragonvale. Right now, the large miasma costs more than the small miasma, as with island objects. But the price for large and small miasma grows exponentially independently of their relation to each other and based only on how many you have already cleared, which is not something that has ever happened when we have such a quantity of things to clear.
Sorry, you got me wrong. What I meant was that the for example the forth island was much cheaper than the 14th one was. And the obstacles increased too. On most of the latest islands were more of the expensive obstacles than the cheaper ones. In the Rift, we have neither islands nor obstacles, but we have the mist, which is becoming more expensive from the inner to the outer circles.

You can move two dragons at a time, total. 2 into the rift, 2 out to the park, or 1 in and 1 out at any given time.
I felt like the E costs were crazy too, so I wanted to run some numbers and get an idea of how much we'll be making in the rift down the road. It'll take a while, but we'll eventually have 40 habitats. If you assume you can get most of them to at least level 3, holding 3 dragons, that gives you 120 dragons in the rift making E. Getting the dragons to about level 15 (above is expensive, even 15 is bad), that's 1800 E per hour. That's actually a fair amount, letting you try a number of breed attempts each day, and to where the 1000 cost levels won't concern you.
Sure, they cost more each try, and get super expensive, but then think back on your main island. How many breeds per day do you do in a single cave there? I'm lucky if I get 3-4, and often get one locked up for 2 days at a time. Getting 6, or even 10 breeds in the rift per day actually doesn't sound so bad...
I think the key early on is to get as many habitats as you can, and fill them with dragons. Only clear when you need the space. Start upgrading the habitats to level 2 once the singles cost as much or more, I just passed 500 in cost in my park. And keep going, buying or upgrading whichever is cheapest until you can get a better stream income of E.

Could someone explain this?
My rift is @fire (that's my shorthand for Fire Alignment). I want to breed a Dodo(Fire) (shorthand for a Dodo with Fire trait).
I tried Air Rift + Alpenglow twice. I got: Wind(Air) Rain(Earth)
Q1. How do you get a Dodo(Fire)?
Q2. How do you breed a Ghast? When I choose a light rift it doesn't let me breed with a dark rift. But Ghast needs light and dark. And it needs a Fire trait.

Q1. Air Rift + Alpenglow might eventually give you a Dodo. (An Air Dragon with a Earth Hybrid) I have not had to breed an opposite dragon in so long I do not remember if they are breedable with Special dragons or just Elemental hybrids.
To get Fire Trait on the Dodo as a possibility, you need a Fire Trait in the mix. Since your Rift is Fire, you have that.
Q2. Ghast needs light, dark, rift elements and the fire trait in the "cauldron" that creates it. No, you cannot breed a Light Rift with a Dark Rift (they are opposites) So you will need either a Rift Dragon with the Light Element that IS not a Light Rift Dragon or a Rift Dragon with the Dark Element that is NOT the Dark Rift Dragon to breed with the opposite dragon, and make sure that either one of the dragons or the Rift itself has a Fire trait.)
Alpenglow has Light in it so try Dark Rift with Alpenglow.

That's the combo for Sandstorm. Dodo would be the other way around.
Thank YOU! I didn't realize it mattered which was the elemental and which the hybrid! As I said, its been a LONG time since I had to breed an opposite dragon

Dodo = Earth + Air hybrid , so:
Dodo(Fire) = Earth Rift + Blightwing, regardless of the current alignment of The Rift, since Blightwing = Rift + Fire + Air
Now, the DragonBreed app says 100% chance of Dodo using any of: AirRift + Dodo AirRift + Earth EarthRift + Dodo However, I don't think those combos apply to The Rift (correct?)

PSA. You can buy new regular rift habitats in the rift market. He first one holds one rift dragon and can be upgraded 4 times to hold five rift dragons.
New rift habitats costs go up by 50 E for each one. (6th habitat =400 RiftE, 7th habitat =450 RiftE, 8th habitat =500 RiftE, 9th habitat =550 RiftE, 10th habitat =600 RiftE, 11th habitat =650 RiftE, 12th habitat =700 RiftE)
The upgrade costs are consistent. 500, 1000, 2500 and I assume 5000 riftE
You can move the rift habitat and squish them all together so they don't take a lot of space.
With the low capacity of the habitats it might be better to have only one dragon in as many habitats as you can afford.
You can also visit everyones rift dimension by clicking go the rift when visiting their park.
My strategy is to move all rift dragons into the rift in their own habitat. And upgrade them as high as I can. Maximum E in a regal rift habitat is 200. That's a typical work day, one dragon earning 20 e will take 10 hr. My life won't allow clicking every 2 hr. Blah. Capacity needs to be improved.

Drow, you are a master! Thanks to your sandbox I was able to breed a Plumewing dragon on the second try. Thank you for helping us all by keeping the sandbox going.
My befuddled mind is trying to wade through this muddy rift, and so far I've managed to acquire three rift habitats - one to hold three dragons and the other to hold two. I thought I'd got the system of moving dragons from park to rift, but this morning somehow the one I left to transfer from park to rift overnight appears to have jumped the transition gate and whizzed back to the park from whence it came! Discovering that you can move more than one, I rounded it up and stuffed it back in to accompany the first one.
This morning I bred a Moss dragon with a plant trait, which I've left in the rift for the moment. I thought I'd bred a Poison with a fire trait, but that dragon hasn't changed in appearance, although the dragonarium tells me it has a fire trait. How can I tell, when it just looks the same as the others. The Moss and Flower dragons with plant traits have changed in appearance.
My main question for today (I can only absorb so much information and half of that will have disappeared when I wake up tomorrow), is that I see someone bred a Plumewing with a Dodo and an Air Rift. I have a Dodo dragon, so does that mean I can just shove that one into the rift and breed it there with my Air Rift? PLEASE tell me this is so?!
My first breed this morning only cost my 1 e-thingie. So I may be able to afford one breed per day and save all the other e-thingie to clear miasma and buy habitats.

I've heard people refer to Etherium as "Rift gems" because it is essentially gems in the rift.
OTOH, once you get the dragons leveled up (or if you start with a lot at lvl 20 as some did), the low habitats quickly top out on Etherium. I've found it worth it often to upgrade at least one level and pair a level 20 with a newer-bred level 10 dragon to not have to visit the park quite so often to avoid losing out on Etherium.
Thank YOU! I didn't realize it mattered which was the elemental and which the hybrid! As I said, its been a LONG time since I had to breed an opposite dragon

1. I don't think any combo is 100% chance in the Rift or the "real" world. If you find one, figure it is a bug that Backflip hasn't fixed yet.
2. the (Fire) thing means you want a Dodo with a Fire trait, correct? In which case, you'd need the Rift Alignment to be Fire for that combination to work. THe only trait Earth Rift Dragon can have is Earth and Blightwing's trait (the only one it can have) is Dark.
Think of traits as an Appearance modifier. They affect the appearance of the dragon/Rift So if you are looking for a specific trait on the child dragon, either one of the parents or the Rift needs that TRAIT -- having it as an element is not good enough. So if you need a Dodo with a Fire "hat" -- the mom, dad, or the Rift area itself needs that Fire "Hat" -- having something called Fire in the genes of the parents is not good enough. They need to be wearing an actual Fire Hat at the moment of breeding (or the Rift needs to carry it. This breeding is more effected by the environment than in the "Real" World -- so the Rift "Soup" adds an ingredient to the recipe
