The spooky may be over, but that doesn't mean the funny is! Buckle up, toss out the rotting jack'o'lanturns, and get that turkey ready.... With the new month, comes a new installment of POTM. It works like this:
You find a post you like and you nominate it for Post of the Month. You do this by quoting the post and adding the comment "Post of the Month" or if you think you can't pull it off, simply "POTM". A Mod will move your POTM Reply to this thread. Conversely you can right click on the "Link to Post" at the bottom of each post and Copy Link Location. Then post in this thread with "Post of the Month" (or "POTM" if you think you can), right click in the thread and Paste. You cannot nominate your own post ... I mean c'mon ... that's just really lame ... no matter how cool/funny/clever/poignant you think you were. Each post can only be nominated once. The first person to do so gets the nod. On the 1st of next month (or thereabouts, I mean, we're all working folks here, well most of us) we'll make a Poll with all the nominated threads and everyone here will be invited to vote for their favorite thread. You'll have about a month to vote. So at the end of next month we'll have a winner, or more accurately, two, because the original poster AND the person who nominated them wins. What do you win? Gems of course. The mods will pay the winners.
So, to sum up. - Make good posts. - Nominate good posts. - Vote for posts. - Profit. - Have a laugh.

(Fair warning: The following was written while slightly delirious due to sleep deprivation and the point may have gotten lost along the way somewhere.)
Step 2 is a fine place to be! The Rift isn't going anywhere, there's plenty of time to get the dragons. A fire-breathing dragonarium is going to be very difficult to get for a bit, but it's the same for all of us. If you're finding it confusing, take a step back and just play around in there, breed for random traits, get more dragons in the Rift. Have a look at what you get and see if you understand why they were what you got. And when you start to get it, take another look at the Rift exclusive dragons and go for the less complex ones first.
Kampos and Plumewing are magic and will probably pop up at some point just by breeding randomly. Antumbra, Ghast and Thunderbird are the nice, intermediate level ones. Normal elemental combos with one slice of Rifty shenanigans each. Lacuna, Viridian and Zaffer are a whole multi-tiered wedding cake of shenanigans and I'd be surprised if more than a few people had actually bred them legitimately at this point. They take time, effort and good RNG, but you get there in stages and we're all working towards them piece by piece.
And hey, if all else fails, you can try your luck to get them in the mystery eggs! So, yeah. You're not alone here. I've been literally drawing diagrams for some of this and despite that some of the best things I've gotten in the Rift have been from just throwing spaghetti at the breeding cave. Metaphorically speaking.

I like the rift but it is so complicated and this doesn't come easy so when I read the multiple posts of info that are flying onto the forum pages I feel overwhelmed. Your post reminded me once again to just breath! Don't allow my OCD / perfectionist / I want it yesterday! Nature to make this game a time stealing stressor!! althea Mischief Managed: at the end of doubles weekends, if one were to leave one's device plugged in ( so as not to run out of battery) and with auto close set to 'never' ( for the duration only), and leave ones park open and running, before the closing of the doubles time span, when one arose in the morning ( although there are tails of valers arising in the deeps of night, or glom of nit) one may be fortunate to find one can continue to collect at double rate, stretching time, until total is reached. Myths and legends warn of not collecting from the social gifts, and others of not interrupting the main screen at all, and of casting spells to ensure no gifts are received during this time of challenge, to ensure one completes the Mischief Managed challenge, and is not booted or otherwise dragonhandled from one's park.
Fears have arisen which warn of the trained magical ferrets used by BFS to travel along the Ether to parks, sniffing out attempts to complete this witchetty wizardly park keeper prank.... Place cheese beside your device to ensure they are distracted e'en if they happen upon your effort...

And now the Rift finally gave me my first Kampos, but the remaining three Rift Spookies (Lycan, Nosferatu, Bog.) and trying for Lycan today still evade me.
It's kinda like the RNG wizards are sick of hearing my complaining about no more Rift Spookies and just said, "If we give you Plumewing, Kampos, and Frostfluff, will you finally shut up?!We know you are missing those Rift specials for weeks and we know you want Frostfluff after changing your alignment, we'll at least hand over these three. But never the last 3 spookies, unless we finally feel like it or we could make them have no trait, lol."
And now I get Thunderbird! With Water Rift Tree and Fire Rift Storm, yeah bad idea for Lycan, but still (back to switching to basic combos). When the wizards gave me Thunderbird, it's like they replied, "Here, have a Thunderbird. But we're not giving you Rift Lycan or the other two at all." And that's when I get a megaphone and made a large whine, "Wizards, oh wizards! Please for mercy, let me breed a Rift Lycan, Nosferatu and Bog! I'm not taking any more risks! Enough golden hybrids garbage, I want those Rifts! Or I'll throw a giant tantrum! WHINE! WHINE WHINE!"
And that's when I tried using whine magic for once.
And later, a Gargoyle from Co-op. The wizards keep trying to shut me up, but my loud whines prevails.
Technically the first 11 clouds after the tutorial are variable. I tried to plot them and they are close to exponential. Then at cloud 12 (2750 E) the add 250 starts.
There are 16 squares in the dock. 144 total squares sooo.
Cause I'm a chem/math nerd. You can calculate the clearing cost after cloud 11.
Cost to clear ether = ((total number of clouds cleared -11)x 250))+2750.
144(total squares)-16(dock)-11(variable)= 117
(117x 250 ) + 2750 = 32000
