With the new month, comes a new installment of POTM. It works like this:
You find a post you like and you nominate it for Post of the Month. You do this by quoting the post and adding the comment "Post of the Month" or if you think you can't pull it off, simply "POTM". A Mod will move your POTM Reply to this thread. Conversely you can right click on the "Link to Post" at the bottom of each post and Copy Link Location. Then post in this thread with "Post of the Month" (or "POTM" if you think you can), right click in the thread and Paste. You cannot nominate your own post ... I mean c'mon ... that's just really lame ... no matter how cool/funny/clever/poignant you think you were. Each post can only be nominated once. The first person to do so gets the nod. On the 1st of next month (or thereabouts, I mean, we're all working folks here, well most of us) we'll make a Poll with all the nominated threads and everyone here will be invited to vote for their favorite thread. You'll have about a month to vote. So at the end of next month we'll have a winner, or more accurately, two, because the original poster AND the person who nominated them wins. What do you win? Gems of course. The mods will pay the winners.
So, to sum up. - Make good posts. - Nominate good posts. - Vote for posts. - Profit. - Have a laugh.
Okay...far be it from me to complain about having doubles days, but I can't be the only one who's had this thought when signing in and getting the in-game advertisement while it's loading that says, "Today only!!!" regarding the double beans earning. If it was actually a rare thing to be given double beans, this brilliant commercial technique might be applicable, but we've had quite a lot of doubles days. Now, I'm just wondering if someone on the team has a deep personal vendetta against weekends, or something...what was wrong with doubles weekends?
Anyway, though certainly not bothered by having doubles days, this is sort of what I feel every time I sign in and see that 'today only' message.
Ok, so I am becoming a little tetchy with my park visitors; I lay out paths to stunning vistas, I suggest winding routes through garden rooms, I provide fountains and benches... The wizzlings run amok and continually stray too close to the poison dragons and pick the niteshade berries, and then tease Ouroboros, knowing full well that he can't let go of his tail to bite or flame them... And as for the witches and wizards, they act like ants! Don't care about new paths or extensions to the old ones, 'this is the way we've always taken thank you so much and we'll keep walking this way' Talk about stuck in a comfort zone...now why does that sound familiar 😳😯☺️
They changed the breeding hint for the Chromacorn Dragon!!!
It is now Rainbow Dragon + Double Rainbow Dragon + rift element
Oh, well, never mind me then. I really should have learnt by now, thinking that BFS can launch anything that actually works correctly will just lead to egg on your face. 🙄
hey bee eff ess can i have todays rift breeds back then since you messed up the hint and i wasted them, hint hint
I love this reminder to have some perspective, thank you 🦄
I started playing dv when it first came out, side by side with my young daughter who is now an adult! We were charmed by everything about it and in no particular hurry to collect dragons, simply enjoying the journey and delighted by its creativity, beauty, and excellent design. The THRILL of getting my first rainbow dragon!! ...Life got busy, kids got older, my daughter started high school and we both dropped off the game. Then recently, years later, for some reason on the same day in separate cities and without any discussion, we both picked it back up. It felt like a foreign landscape at first - remarkably, I was able to recover my original game although initially I started a new one, so now have two going simultaneously - but we spent time on the phone talking and sharing information and discussing the sandbox etcetera and slowly eased ourselves back in to this awesome vale of dragons world! We sometimes strategise breeding in the co-op and It's so cool to get twins together.
So thank you for the reality check! I'm here to have fun. And connect with my daughter, and goof around and not get all worked up about a rainbow unicorn dragon even if I truly do NEED IT. Oops, I mean, whatever
You know, it occurs to me, as I continue to burn thru E up to 10,000 daily 😱 and including those E10,000 breeds some days, that breeding rainbows in the rift is not so bad during BeB; I've scored no unicorn, but several other Rdraggies I didn't have, so, lopsided smile 😏 🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨 to everyone on the 'corn hunt;Tally Ho! 🦄🦄🦄🦄
Same .. though weirdly, every time a Trench dragon is a result, it's un-rifted. Has happened 3 times now (on different days). What is it about Trench not wanting to be rifted?!
Thank goodness! Seeing my entire park like that gave me just the inspiration I needed to start a complete redo of my park. Don’t look yet as it is a mess with much to do.
Kiwichris , Since I know you are going to peek anyway, the three Islands to the far left of my park have turned into the Land of Oz. Dorothy’s farmhouse caught up in a big wind and dropped into the Munchkin Monoliths. She follows the Yellow Brick Road, picks up the Scarecrow, Tinman (Bone), and Lion (Permafrost) and along with Toto (mini Mountain) then wanders into the Spooky Forest. Ends up at the Wicked Witch’s abode complete with Flying Monkeys (okay, bats). The hourglass is running out but they make their escape only to encounter: Poppies, poppies, poppies. Finds the Yellow Brick Road again and makes it to the Emerald City to meet the Wizard (graciously played by mini Pharaoh), misses boarding the Balloon but ends up Over The Rainbow Habitats. I think that about does it for those three Islands. Currently working on Hogwarts, pardon my dust. Who needs sleep anyway?
O.M.GOODNESS GRACIOUS! Brilliant 😯 and 😅😅😅 go you! Taking themes to the NEXT LEVEL and btw POTM nomnom
All credit goes to the late great poet Shel Silverstein. I just tweaked it a bit to reflect how my Chromacorn search seems to be going, because this poem just runs over and over in my head as I Rift breed after Rift breed......
The Chromacorn
A long time ago, when the earth was green And there was more kinds of animals than you've ever seen, And they run around free while the world was bein' born, And the lovliest of all was the Chromacorn. There was green alligators and long-neck geese. There was humpy bumpy camels and chimpanzees. There was catsandratsandelephants, but sure as you're born The lovliest of all was the Chromacorn. But the Lord seen some sinnin', and it caused him pain. He says, "Stand back, I'm gonna make it rain." He says, "Hey Brother Noah, I'll tell ya whatcha do. Go and build me a floatin' zoo. And you take two alligators and a couple of geese, Two humpy bumpy camels and two chimpanzees. Take two catsandratsandelephants, but sure as you're born Noah, don't you forget my Chromacorn." Now Noah was there, he answered the callin' And he finished up the ark just as the rain was fallin'. He marched in the animals two by two, And he called out as they went through, "Hey Lord, I got your two alligators adn your couple of geese, Your humpy bumpy camels and your chimpanzees. Got your catsandratsandelephants -- but Lord, I'm so forlorn 'Cause I just don't see no Chromacorn." Ol' Noah looked out through the drivin' rain But the Chromacorns were hidin', playin' silly games. They were kickin' and splashin' in the misty morn, Oh them silly Chromacorn. The the goat started goatin', and the snake started snakin', The elephant started elephantin', and the boat started shaking'. The mouse started squeakin', and the lion started roarin', And everyone's abourd but the Chromacorn. I mean the green alligators and the long-neck geese, The humpy bumpy camels and the chimpanzees. Noah cried, "Close the door 'cause the rain is pourin'-- And we just can't wait for them Chromacorn." Then the ark started movin', and it drifted with the tide, And the Chromacorns looked up from the rock and cried. And the water come up and sort of floated them away-- That's why you've never seen a Chromacorn to this day. You'll see a lot of alligators and a whole mess of geese. You'll see humpy bumpy camels and lots of chimpanzees. You'll see catsandratsandelephants, but sure as you're born You're never gonna see no Chromacorn
Gotcher ears on BFS?? Are you noticing, BFS, that a large number of your most loyal players and promoters are not only disenchanted with the increasingly rare odds you now seem to place on dragon breeding success, and your odd idea of rewarding those who DONT spend RL$ on the game, but are also beginning to leave, because the initial joy in the beautiful artwork and animation of this game, accompanied by challenges which if stuck at did bear fruit, thus giving a sense of accomplishment, have vanished- like the chromacorn- into the mists of time... Alas This BeB I have not bred A. SINGLE. TARGET. DRAGON. In the Vale or the Rift. The non-successful continual breeding for Chromacorn did at least produce some (non-target) missing dragons, some comfort... Goodness knows how new players are coping. And you continuously bombard us with event after event; nowhere to display dragons, no time to catch up on missing dragons... No time to actually just enjoy the game; the pace has become somewhat frenetic So, many of us are playing much much less, and others are leaving or planning to Maybe that's the cycle of these games, I don't know, this is the only one I have played for this long and previously enjoyed so much My new personal strategy is going to be ignoring new events, if I happen to get new dragons great, and just playing maybe once a day... I now only play DVW at weekends... So, you're losing me slowly Sad
Well said.
I too have not bred a single target dragon during the entire BeB. This is supposed to be a a breeding simulation game but, unless you are content with simulating the breeding of the same few dragons over and over and over, you will be sorely disappointed. Don't expect to breed anything you actually need. I think BFS should consider if these very low breeding odds are actually doing the game any good at all. For me, buying or wishing for dragons can't match the excitement of breeding them. And having the opportunity to try to breed them for weeks or months on end with no joy is not exciting either. Just frustrating and annoying. Eventually a game that frustrates and annoys its players will fade away.
POTM?
I’ve felt exactly this way for some time too, just haven’t taken the time to express it as succinctly as you Chris...Bravo!

I shall, per norm ("Norm!"), donate my prize to lowest level park player in my friends list; please don't return!!!
Kiwichris , I shalt do likewise! ‘Gratz back at ya!
N/A , No prize required. You helping with the heavy lifting on the forum is like a pile of prizes daily!
And thanks to everyone who liked my Wizard of Oz islands! I do promise that I will get to redecorating the rest of my park in LOTR style as soon as my proliferation of melons, squash, eggplant, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, apples, pears, cabbages, and herbs in the garden takes a breather.
... oh and I left off my Meyer lemons which are coming along nicely.

Cyn, Wow how abundant! Despite the ash? Interesting, did you have to wash it off leaves etc? I guess it could form potash? And be super good for garden in manageable amounts....
yep please sbf, if the gems come from your own stash, don't send to me either, and I'll still happily contribute a couple to low levels friends Thankyou for all the work you do for all of us 🌻🌻
Oh wow! For the first month ever, both winners don’t need a gem prize? Sadly I already gifted a couple to ya 😜 but whomever claims the two spots now can come get the rest.
