Well it looks like I added a potm nomination from August in the July potm 😳 since I can’t edit polls after creating them - I included the post for a second month, but will let the group decide if the count for this month or who’s post wins. Sorry about the mix up, not sure why I included it in the wrong month, but it gets another shot I guess, if there are no objections. (Top poll option)
With the new month, comes a new installment of POTM. It works like this:
You find a post you like and you nominate it for Post of the Month. You do this by quoting the post and adding the comment "Post of the Month" or if you think you can't pull it off, simply "POTM". A Mod will move your POTM Reply to this thread. Conversely you can right click on the "Link to Post" at the bottom of each post and Copy Link Location. Then post in this thread with "Post of the Month" (or "POTM" if you think you can), right click in the thread and Paste. You cannot nominate your own post ... I mean c'mon ... that's just really lame ... no matter how cool/funny/clever/poignant you think you were. Each post can only be nominated once. The first person to do so gets the nod. On the 1st of next month (or thereabouts, I mean, we're all working folks here, well most of us) we'll make a Poll with all the nominated threads and everyone here will be invited to vote for their favorite thread. You'll have about a month to vote. So at the end of next month we'll have a winner, or more accurately, two, because the original poster AND the person who nominated them wins. What do you win? Gems of course. The mods will pay the winners.
So, to sum up. - Make good posts. - Nominate good posts. - Vote for posts. - Profit. - Have a laugh.
Gotcher ears on BFS?? Are you noticing, BFS, that a large number of your most loyal players and promoters are not only disenchanted with the increasingly rare odds you now seem to place on dragon breeding success, and your odd idea of rewarding those who DONT spend RL$ on the game, but are also beginning to leave, because the initial joy in the beautiful artwork and animation of this game, accompanied by challenges which if stuck at did bear fruit, thus giving a sense of accomplishment, have vanished- like the chromacorn- into the mists of time... Alas This BeB I have not bred A. SINGLE. TARGET. DRAGON. In the Vale or the Rift. The non-successful continual breeding for Chromacorn did at least produce some (non-target) missing dragons, some comfort... Goodness knows how new players are coping. And you continuously bombard us with event after event; nowhere to display dragons, no time to catch up on missing dragons... No time to actually just enjoy the game; the pace has become somewhat frenetic So, many of us are playing much much less, and others are leaving or planning to Maybe that's the cycle of these games, I don't know, this is the only one I have played for this long and previously enjoyed so much My new personal strategy is going to be ignoring new events, if I happen to get new dragons great, and just playing maybe once a day... I now only play DVW at weekends... So, you're losing me slowly Sad
Well said.
I too have not bred a single target dragon during the entire BeB. This is supposed to be a a breeding simulation game but, unless you are content with simulating the breeding of the same few dragons over and over and over, you will be sorely disappointed. Don't expect to breed anything you actually need. I think BFS should consider if these very low breeding odds are actually doing the game any good at all. For me, buying or wishing for dragons can't match the excitement of breeding them. And having the opportunity to try to breed them for weeks or months on end with no joy is not exciting either. Just frustrating and annoying. Eventually a game that frustrates and annoys its players will fade away.
POTM?
I’ve felt exactly this way for some time too, just haven’t taken the time to express it as succinctly as you Chris...Bravo!
Okay, I know there are some math people out there who will enjoy a story problem: if it costs 1,000 rings to get a 5% cash bonus, and it costs 10,000 rings to start getting a 5.5% cash bonus, how many times will the 5.5% bonus have to be deployed to cover the bonus amount lost by saving up and spending the 10,000 rings on leveling up instead of just collecting and getting the 5% bonus 10 times? (imposing the artificial constraint that the total collection value the bonus is based on remains constant, that is, the park's earning value remains constant).
I'm imagining the mind set of the person/persons who came up with this event. I can hear someone mumbling to themselves in the BFS breakroom "Hmmm, so Dragonvale is a dragon breeding game is it? You want to breed dragons do you? Well, alrighty then". I can hear evil maniacal laughter reverberating off the walls.
POTM for evil maniacal laughter reverberating off the walls!
Last event I was blasé...now I'm positively disinterested. The first day, I just played without using the donation cards, as I wasn't enthusiastic about the idea, but I got very negligible amounts of event currency through breeding and finding a few of the wandering special characters who were possible to find in the entire solar system of islands I must comb through to find them. I'm still missing three of the obscenely expensive islands, too...pity the brilliant, dedicated players who have them all and have even more work scouring the place for the scuttling little people, amidst the sea of flapping wings and belched flame and exploding fountains and whatnot. My ability to watch advertisements for gems or event currency is also impeded at the moment, as for some reason, every time I choose the option, the same German Lottery advertisement appears and freezes the screen, so...that's, erm...amusing.
Anyhow, I digress... I don't like the donation cards; if they were optional, and not the best way to earn event currency, I'd be fine with them (and by that I mean I'd live and let live, ignoring them completely), but I've complained before that I miss when we were able to earn currency from regular aspects of playing the game--collecting from habitats, harvesting crops, etc. I also still don't really like the Rift, and I'm still missing ten habitats there, I think, and I don't often check it more than once per day, so the going is very slow in upgrading it, and this also means that I don't have great amounts of etherium to spend on breeding daily...So I'm using it all to fill about half a card per day (I've just been trying for the surface dragons in the breeding den and island in the Vale, after the first day, when I tried in the Rift for them as well). My issue is that while they've made the dragons breedable in theory, breeding odds seem to be so low lately (BEB was very unsuccessful for me--no target Rift dragons achieved, and no target pedestals achieved) that it's unlikely to be able to breed them, and if one spends one's etherium in trying for them, one then foregoes the event currency to be gained by caving to the only system that seems to be a viable means of earning during this event. I don't like that it feels very controlled and directed. Call me a rebel, but that's not my idea of fun.
In conclusion, gentle folk, I shall resort to terrifying levels of geekery to console myself, so if such geekery doth put at risk thine eyes, already wearied by the steady stream of w(h)ine from above, and wilt offend thy precious souls, prithee turn ye aside speedily and be ye relieved.
"Grand Nagus Zek to unidentified "dragon boat". Your serial code is not visible, and you are acting in defiance of intergalactic docking procedures. We were neither alerted to your intention to dock in our system, nor did we grand permission. You are violating Ferengi space and illegally impeding the ability for the Ferengi players to earn profit through your new system and regulations. As Rule of Acquisition #18 states: A Ferengi without profit is no Ferengi at all. If you do not cease in your relentless assault against the pure Ferengi desire for profit and growth, we will have to reconsider our support of your business. Otherwise, if you are open to negotiation, you can send your 'Great' Nogard to negotiate with myself...the 'GRAND' Nagus. Hehehehe. End transmission."
O Grand Nagus: salutations and genuflections oh mighty one from this lowly wine merchant! please herewith accept my application for the Ferengi Irregulars Rebel faction, battling against those who would despoil our Rules of Acquisition, may they be assaulted by Sulphur dragons! I shall also send my nephew second removed and my great granddaughter, both of whom have excellent undercover skills, to assist with spying, um gathering of necessary informational material. The runner awaits your reply, at the door of your august establishment.
POTM, hahaha. And we'd be pleased to do business with you. I'll have my assistants write up the contract. It'll be long just because of the legal mumbo jumbo; don't give yourself a headache reading the whole thing, by any means. It's not like I'd try to get you to inadvertently sign your skilled relatives over to me as indentured servants, or anything. Onward!
May I nominate this whole conversation as POTM? So far, the only fun thing about this event is this exchange. Hope I change my mind by the end by the end of the event.
Super long thread, 2 poll options, and Ilovdragons nominated a portion as well (I tried my best to capture it all, this one was a tough one to get!)
the kaiju dragon is particularly expensive because its so hard for the market to acquire them. you see, half the time, when one appears in the rift, a bunch of giant robots show up and destroy it...
I still have 21 hours left on my SENTENCE. Accidentally bred a Gold in the Rift so cleared the Treasure box but only that box. This event feels like... Jury duty, jury duty, jury duty, black mail, pink slip, chain letter, eviction notice, jury duty.
POTM! (We neeeed these in this trial, um, event... 'Play with your food children'
The Wizards of the Vale soon began to notice that Events calculated to make their interest groups suffer were backfiring – firstly, because they weren’t raising sales THAT much and secondly because they were having to shell out tons of Dragon Treats. So, first, they devaluated Dragon Cash and nullified the power of the new-found banking system, and then they devised the Dragon Bond, little more than a Bingo card designed to deplete resources against chimeric promises of vanishing currency and tie up the time it took to generate them.
(Excuse me, bonds are an option. In point of fact, the Dragon Bond was a compulsory Bind.) (Wicked laughter there somewhere).
Meantime, a brave little forum in Cyberland dedicated to Draconian Aloha kept pooling their brains and resources to outwit the Wizards (see Jeremy Irons somewhere on a tower in there?) They knew they could not survive without Wizard Magic, but while a tribute was reasonable every now and then, certain magic was downright dastardly, like imposing a three-day ultimatum on a request for Apocalypses, Suns, Rainbows, Epics and Treasures plus (Rare Dragon of Choice).
To be continued…
We jus' gon' have soooo many POTM's this month 😂😂😂😂
Ok, my third card (takes me the whole allocated time to complete one) and I have Galaxy, sun, Apoc, dream and Olympus...so doesn't seem linked to how many you complete in a day/time period, but more the actual number you complete at all... So I'll carry o n breeding for dragons I'm missing, and if fails happen to earn me some squares on whatever card is up, well and good So underwhelmed with this idea of an event; was momentarily excited with the challenges of finding multi-element result pairings, but that fun is dissipated with epics turning up in such numbers in one card... Sad 👿
That's exactly my new card except for Galaxy, they won't ask for a Galaxy because I have several of them still sitting in my social menu from galaxy eggs of mystery I bought. Instead they want a silver. They never ask for anything I have. I'm not usually a conspiracy theorist, well actually I guess I am, but still, it's a conspiracy I tell ya. And wicked petty too. I mean I have 2 rain dragons so they ask for a fog. Come on. Gimme a break. Would it kill ya to let it be a rain dragon if you want air and water? It seems ridiculous to imagine there's some kind of program that knows exactly what dragons people have available to hatch when they send out a card. I think it's nothing like that at all. I think they have a shrink ray and as soon as you finish a card they quickly shrink a staff person, code them into a radio signal and send them to spy. There's no other answer. It's too coincidental that they never ask for a dragon you already have and I don't believe in coincidences. I do however believe in shrink rays that can shrink humans and code them into radio signals.
Annnnd.......another POTM (especially the last 2 sentences). If nothing else, this event has produced some great POTM nominees.
i've seen one dragon on a card which i was able to donate from gifts (steam, as i recall). but with over 400 dragons in the game, i can see that being a rarity.
however, all the epics are making card completion a serious drag. i mean, i get it. the only outside focus group backflip can get on short notice is the GMHIG (gunbarrel masochists and horsewhipping interest group), BUT REALLY.

Edited to add: show your work.
POTM; particularly the edit 😂😂
