Has anyone else noticed that there are new quests? I don’t remember the earlier one I got, but i’ve Just got “Cold Sweat” which wants Fire and Cold. I used Frostfire, but who knows if that is correct? I don’t think it can be a new dragon, because the earlier unlisted quest was before this event started.
Thats probably the new one Fever

Have sent a begging email to bfs.... but of course it’s their Sunday, sigh...
be very careful of that, the egg looks no different from several others, sadly, so watch the auto sell finger!
The two new hybrids don't appear to be limited dragons. I wouldn't worry too much if you don't get it back, hybrids are rather easy to breed and often appear as fails for other things down the line.

Trying to heat up that cold comfort for my idiocy nonetheless...spent 40,000E x4 to get it.... 😢 so the cost was big (I get soooo stubborn sometimes, so profligacy was the underpinning of idiocy quick delete finger... sigh)

Been there, done that, own the t-shirt, the commemorative shot glass, and was issued a plaque. Look on the bright side, at least you bred one. I am breeding bumpkus.

Oooo, I’ve been trying so HARD to breed a bumpkus, with just no 🐨 whatsoever, I love their colours, and the way bfs has made them dance when you get 2or more together in a habitat! 😋 and they EARN so much dc too.....
Speaking of untraited Rift breeds, I'm up to 6 of these limited dragons bred in the Rift (3 Fever, 2 Begonia, 1 Brilliant) and not one of them has had a trait. Has anyone managed to breed a traited one of these in the last few days?
There's at least one traited Begonia on my social list so I have to assume that they at least were available... I think I'm probably just not having the best of luck on the trait rolls, but getting some confirmation won't hurt. 🤷♂️

I got a rifted Begonia last night on my alt account, so it is possible. I'd just be happy that you're getting anything, I'm still at 0 on my main account. I'm not liking the new breeding odds from Backflip this past year, I only got 1 of 4 of the surface dragons and now I'm getting nothing with these current ones. I'm not like I'm not trying, breeding through 15k in the rift, speeding up caves, etc. 1 of the last 7 dragons that could be bred is terrible odds, given that I had a fire breathing dragonarium before that happened.

0 out of 4 here as well. Breeding through 10k. Frustrating isnt it :/
It's really getting to a point where there's too many dragons per combo thus a ton of fails But I also feel like Backflip plays around with the odds. eg. even epics with the same elements have different breeding chances even though they might have the same fails. New dragons just in general are too hard to breed.

In the pre-rift old days, if you had a week to get a new dragon then you could count on getting roughly 25 attempts between your 3 caves (guessing 2-3 tries per cave, per day). If you were unlucky, you might have to spend a couple hundred gems speeding up the caves on the last day, or speeding up the last couple hours on each breed during the week, but you pretty much always got the dragon. I was 100 percent success in the first 6 years with this method. Sure I got a little lucky, but in general the odds of a new dragon was where 25 attempts would usually get you one, two, or even 2+ and an egg.
When the rift first came out, the odds stayed the same. It was expensive, and we were all short Etherium. They even tried selling us 1k/5k etc levels of Etherium for a lot of money so they clearly felt Etherium would limit our attempts per day. But then we got our 55 habitats a year later, level 15+ dragons in each one, and we're making 11k every few hours which allows us to easily breed up through 10k breeds each day. That's 16 more attempts per day, when we were only doing 25 per week before.
They had to adjust the numbers, that much is clear, or it would become too easy to get every new dragon. The problem is that they lowered the odds too much. Where before I could get a dragon in 25 attempts if it was a week long release, I'm now getting 137 attempts in that same week and I'm usually not getting the new dragon. Part of it is that as they add new dragons, there are more fails, but that's not really the main issue as most of these new dragons are limited and not part of any new failure outcome for the newest dragons. They just messed up the numbers and made them too low, or maybe they did it on purpose to attempt to increase sales. If that's the case, I hope it's backfiring on them. Giving us more fails per day just adds to our frustration, it doesn't help increase the enjoyment of the game.
For every new dragon that was obtained through breeding this past year (not event currency), for all but a small number I had to get through cloning with friends AFTER the dragon was no longer available. Or from a mystery egg. I've said this before, Dragonvale is no longer a dragon breeding game with these new odds, it's a dragon cloning game with mystery loot boxes. I really keep meaning to contact Apple and ask why this game doesn't need to release the odds for their breeding and mystery eggs, as Apple requires all applications to disclose reward odds now for any game that allows currency or loot box purchases. I'm guessing it slipped through the cracks, as most other games I play now display the odds (often in a very small, hard to find, icon hidden away somewhere).

Yeah I've noticed a similar change in the past few years as well. It seems as dragons odds use to be somewhere in the 5-10% percentage range with occasional hard to breed dragons such as Rainbow/Dream dragon being released. Now it seems like every new dragon has a 1-5% chance of being bred which is a huge difference. Though these numbers are not immensely tested, they are kinda what I figured though occasional testing/keeping track. Even for dragons that require specific dragons as part of their combo, odds are no better. Basically like you said they're embraced the loot box dynamic in all aspects of the game where as before it was more about having the right dragons to fit the required combo to breed a new dragon with the chance of breeding whats intended being much higher. Honestly don't know how they get away without disclosing odds where as other games have to disclose info like this especially since they added "mystery eggs" and "ritual item chests" to the game which are the very definition of lootboxes in app game.

On another track, and possibly more appropriate in a different thread, but I never have time to read a different thread during an event: Has anyone received blue hourglasses to level up Kairos in the past month or so? Using Kairos used to give them, but not any more; I haven't seen them as a quest reward in ages; I had assumed gem speed-ups still gave them, but I did a few speed-ups yesterday and today, and no blue hourglasses. It seems they have totally been dropped from the game. But I still have a counter that shows when I click on Kairos... stuck at measly 10 for the past couple of months...
This feels like a dumb question: has it always been the case that dragons had better odds at level 16? I thought the break was between levels 14 and 15, so I feed dragons up to 15 and then the rest of the way slowly, or never. I realized recently that level 15 has “slightly better” odds but 16 has “better” odds ( levels 1-10 are “normal” odds). Looks like I need to bump a lot of dragons up to 16 so they’re ready if I need them...
