This feels like a dumb question: has it always been the case that dragons had better odds at level 16? I thought the break was between levels 14 and 15, so I feed dragons up to 15 and then the rest of the way slowly, or never. I realized recently that level 15 has “slightly better” odds but 16 has “better” odds ( levels 1-10 are “normal” odds). Looks like I need to bump a lot of dragons up to 16 so they’re ready if I need them...
as far as I know, it has always been like that. Or at least since the dragons could reach level 16. Makes more sense because you need this statue to feed epic dragons up to level 16 and higher.

On another track, and possibly more appropriate in a different thread, but I never have time to read a different thread during an event: Has anyone received blue hourglasses to level up Kairos in the past month or so? Using Kairos used to give them, but not any more; I haven't seen them as a quest reward in ages; I had assumed gem speed-ups still gave them, but I did a few speed-ups yesterday and today, and no blue hourglasses. It seems they have totally been dropped from the game. But I still have a counter that shows when I click on Kairos... stuck at measly 10 for the past couple of months...

Whew - I was getting depressed because I couldn’t breed two of those limited edition dragons. I got Fever early on but couldn’t breed the other two. I feared that I would have to buy roses or use a wish. Then last night, I bred both Brilliant and Begonia in the rift! So excited I can keep my roses since I can’t seem to breed the other two new dragons (Daffadowndily and Petunia, I think they are named; not near my iPad right now).

What level is your Kairos at? When you've collected enough Hourglasses to hit an Advance time of 24 hours then you stop getting them as you have enough to level Kairos to the maximum.
Speaking of untraited Rift breeds, I'm up to 6 of these limited dragons bred in the Rift (3 Fever, 2 Begonia, 1 Brilliant) and not one of them has had a trait. Has anyone managed to breed a traited one of these in the last few days?
There's at least one traited Begonia on my social list so I have to assume that they at least were available... I think I'm probably just not having the best of luck on the trait rolls, but getting some confirmation won't hurt. 🤷♂️
I got a rifted Begonia last night on my alt account, so it is possible. I'd just be happy that you're getting anything, I'm still at 0 on my main account. I'm not liking the new breeding odds from Backflip this past year, I only got 1 of 4 of the surface dragons and now I'm getting nothing with these current ones. I'm not like I'm not trying, breeding through 15k in the rift, speeding up caves, etc. 1 of the last 7 dragons that could be bred is terrible odds, given that I had a fire breathing dragonarium before that happened.
I didn't mean to sound ungrateful, I realise that I'm very lucky here and have gotten substantially more of these than most. It was just that the normal rate for Rift traits is like three quarters traited, give or take, and 0/6 was unusual enough to cause temporary questions of possibility.

That's awesome, I need some of that luck! On the last two dragons, make sure you're only trying to clone them from the Co-op breeding cave, you can not breed them with any other combination. They were available for an hour or two when the event went live, and then Backflip hot fixed the game to remove them from breeding without telling the players.
I also just bred Brilliant, Only Fever left to go. Brilliant wasn't so bad cause only fails were Scorch/Firefly and at 2hr 24m each they're fast to get through. Interestingly no luck in the rift, I've been doing a lot of successful breeding in regular caves as of late. Hmm makes me wonder about rift breeding rates considering the amount of tries we have in the rift... Though as of right now I'm chalking it up to sheer quincedence.
EDIT: And now I just got fever too!. 3/3 in the regular cave

I'd also like to know the combos. For example, I've been trying to get Belgonia with a max level Water + Rust, and after so many fails I'm starting to doubt myself and wonder if you need two hybrid dragons or something. I was also frustrated enough today after breeding through 15k and hurrying dragons in the caves that I shot off an email to Backflip. I'm asking them for the odds on this dragon, not that they'll answer. After so many attempts we really need to know if it's worth hurrying more dragons or spending more Etherium. If it's 1 percent or so, I could justify trying to hurry another 10 attempts and spend lots of gems as I've just been extremely unlucky. If it's .1 or even .05 percent (as I'm guessing), then it's a waste of resources to hurry more.
This failure to get anything recently is really pushing me to give up on this game after 7 years. My goals were always to collect the rest of my missing twins and to get the entire rift collection complete. That was enough to keep me busy for a very long time, but now that I'm missing out on every new dragon I feel like I'm falling farther and farther behind and it's just not fun getting no rewards with each new release.
I'd also like to know the combos. Yeah, was a typo. Meant Fire + Rust, was doing water with an alt account and something else.
I managed a begonia in the rift with fire and conch . Also cloned fever in the co-op so just brilliant to go for the limiteds. I was hoping one of these reward eggs would give me my missing festive but no luck yet just lots of random twins (I’m also missing a lot of ghostlies but none of those yet either). koala everyone with these limiteds! 🐨🐨🐨
For Begonia, I’ve had moderate success in the rift using Conch and Steam. Got it in 3 games, once with no trait and once with dark trait (which is a nice look for Begonia). One game got it in the regular park, I think with Ghostly Fire and Conch. Having no luck cloning Petunia or Daffadowndilly, and bread one Brilliant. Got no Fever at all, even though I’m humming the chorus from the song “Fever” every time I put dragons in for that breed.

They’re still around. I’ve been accumulating them by playing the Races.

How much time does Kairos speed up for you? If it’s a 24 hour advance time, you’re at max level and you have no more use for those blue hourglasses. Hence you don’t get them anymore. (At least that’s what I have been thinking since I stopped getting them once I got Kairos to max power.)

Happy to hear that! On my front, I just got the timer. Looks like I'll be speed-breeding for Fever (it IS permanent, or isn't it?) and will probably have to buy Begonia. Not so happy about that because I don't trust them not to pull out other limiteds...
Just got Begonia in the rift with a last try conch and sulfur, at 10000etheriums. T is a rifted one. I bought the egg, don't want to have anything to do with begonias anymore! I anyway do not like begonias! So back to try for that daffothinggy.
I've read so many posts in this thread about people's success in breeding the new dragons. I'd be extremely happy for you all - if only you would put aside your ecstasy for a moment and SHARE YOUR COMBOS!! When I can read that a couple of members had success with the same breeding pair, it's a clue to which combos are worth sticking to.
I've been following the sandbox recommendations, so I know I can't be far off the track, but if only I knew what others had used to achieve such good results I'd be very grateful.
