I have been very busy so have not been able to find time to get on and check out this thread. Apparently I need to change my friend ID. Just wondering if that means I have to refriend people with my new ID which is cynmed#6369?
I also did share link, but no idea how that works since it didn't seem to change anything.

the fab Arkynos has added a hotlink to message folk that you want to link via new dv friending, in the OP, click on that it sends your friend a pm on the forum
Apparently when you change your name and ID number you still keep your friends, so that's good.

I added nagini#3930 and supposedly they sent a request. But if I'm reading this thread correctly, the request goes into the void and unless people ask here on these boards nobody knows someone sent a request to someone else. Doesn't seem as effective as one might wish. Am I missing something?
It might be hard to friend people if you don't have a place to send requests to. This community comes to mind as the only place other than FB and the various FB groups where you could do this. But if you are already on FB wouldn't you be friending people that way? Not that I am not happy to get more friends this new way.
I don't want to sound ungrateful so I want to say thanks to BFS and say how much I appreciate the new in game friending system. Just though it might need a tweak.
I believe the system was still in beta when we found it, and since everyone was using it so much they released an announcement and FAQ a couple days later. We're not seeing requests either because they didn't want to confuse players before it was released, or they hadn't gotten around to coding it yet.
There are actually several DV communities to share friend ids and discuss the game. There is a subreddit on Reddit, dragonvale, that is very active and has a friend sharing thread with 300 comments from this new change. There also an active discord server, with a friend code channel too, and hundreds (if not a thousand) of active people chatting all day/night about the game.
I've not joined any of the FB groups myself, so I can't comment on which has a larger community. But in the end, this one here seems to have the nicest group of people at least!
I am nagini#3930 I made a bunch of in-game "requests" before reading here that nobody actually gets the request message, so nobody knows who is trying to add who, it seems pretty random who gets connected!
I was curious to see what would happen if I used the new system to be friends with a park I was already friends with through facebook, and it now shows up as "Facebook Name (newname#number)" on my list, with the facebook pic alternating with/fading in and out of the new in-game icon.

I was unable to login here for a couple of days due to work commitments. I logged on to discover that this thread has exploded and I also have numerous messages to attend to! Work really does get in the way at times.
Thank you to the people that have added me and also offered to exchange gems & treats. I have not added everyone. Please do not be offended or take this personally. I play on a very old iPad and I'm worried that if I have too many friends my game will crash more often than it does now.

I got it to work, did you maybe include too many t's? Their friend ID (spaces not included, but here for emphasis) is Kris In Stitches, not Kristin Stitches. That's the most probable error, I think.
I’ve had zero luck breeding the new epic/aura dragons in this event, even after 200 attempts in the Rift over 14 consecutive days. At this point, I’d much rather focus on actually, successfully breeding Rift versions of the limited Valentine’s dragons that I’m missing. So, I stopped the bad luck madness and purchased Amaryllis outright (what else am I going to spend roses on?). Amaryllis (level 20) is hanging out in the co-op if you need it. Message or tag me and I’ll add you if we’re not already friends. Hopefully you’ll having better luck breeding than I did. G’luck!

Back in the day when I was really hooked I got an iPad just so I could have a second park with lots of game center friends to co-op breed and have a chance at out-of-season dragons that I could eventually co-op breed into my first (android, friendless) park... so the iPad park got rich from gem friends while the android park had to manage on mostly the gemstone dragons and coliseum wins. But in the past few months my iPad has been crashing more and more, and that park has also been unlucky with breeding, so I have been tempted to abandon it more than once, but held off because it is my lifeline to co-op breeding choices. But now I can have friends in the android park too! I am VERY happy about this!

the friend links don't work on my android tablet. if I click on a link it takes me to a new browser tab "about blank" that's not critical, because I can type in the name and number, I'm just wondering why and if anybody else has this problem.

I am really excited about this feature. I only have a few family member friends (no facebook account).
I have a level 20 Cyclamen up now for the event. I am looking forward to adding people so that I can help put up dragons in between events through messages in the forum and work on twins with members.
