For those that bred the new Rift dragon, did you use a galaxy dragon w a cold trait? I’ve spent over 100,000 E and no luck. I have a bunch of rift galaxy dragons and all of them in my park. I bought two more rift eggs and got two Novas which I already had. They couldn’t give me one that I didn’t have?

It should not require a cold trait, or even specific galaxy dragons that someone else used successfully. It's just that rare. I did two breeds into 20k each day (110,101 E) with no luck, and half the people doing this for 7 straight days won't receive this dragon after 800k E spent. Think Chromacorn when it was first released but we have one week instead of one month to get it.
I'm crossing my fingers, but given my history of luck I'm resigned to waiting for the Galaxy egg of mystery login before I get this dragon and spending 400 gems if I want the egg.

I used Comet with lightning trait +singularity with light trait. The Rigel I got has a cold trait ... i wanted to breed it with another galaxy dragon in he rift ... you cant ! Althugh it appears in the list it is sort of greyed out. Will have to try in the regular park once i have moved it. My coop is stucked so I tried to breed it in a regular breeding cave ... well you cant either! I have blue hearted it so that you can try to breed it.
Today was my galaxy dragon egg log on reward. Got a Singularity ☹️... was kind of hoping for the new one but no such luck.
Oh that's a bummer. I mean you could try emailing Backflip support but I doubt they'll give you Regal (assuming that's the only one you're missing?) as it's a new dragon and during the event (or in this case the 6 days it's available) they are usually not included in the pool you can get from reward eggs.
I'm lucky to have my Galaxy reward egg a couple days after Regal is gone so hopefully I don't have to email support.

I just bet that my next Galaxy reward egg won't be a Rigel but will instead be a Galaxy dragon I already have with a trait I don't already have. Just whining well in advance here...
Grandpakenny, did you turn on low resolution mode. I thought it would help
Yes, I did it yesterday and today I collected FIRST from the Rift and then from the main Park without a crash. 👍
2nd day in a row I jumped all over; Park, Rift, Park, Rift. Collected everything, Eggs, Flaggers, Stars; hatched and bred, watched all the videos. No Crashes! Told my friend, whose iPad Air 2 was crashing several times while collecting, about Low Resolution; she turned it on and has had No Crashes!
Since I bought the Prismatic Pantheon and turned off all the colors except Flaggers & Eggs etc., I’ve been operating that way ever since. I don’t mind the ‘black & white... Now, with Low Res, it’s almost not noticeable but when I do things that show color, like Tolzar, you can tell...he’s not as sharp.

boooo - the Galaxy mystery eggs have expired - I kind of thought they would stay as long as the Rigel but they don't.(didn't pay carefully attion to the timer) I only could afford to buy 4 eggs. I'm still building up etherium sources. I now have 44 of 55 possible habitats. They are getting really costy. it doesn't help to read that they had been much cheaper on invention. So now I have 13 of 19 Galaxy dragons which means that Rigel is clearly out of reach this time.
On the other hand I can go back to trying to clone Rhinotorch, Busby, Gildamane or Serket without having to worry about Rigel.
I used to aim for two dragons and an egg of every type, but the dragons are coming now out that fast that I adjusted it. I am now trying to get at least one dragon of every type. Edited the wishlist : 86 dragons to go

That’s interesting, I’m curious to know what makes Rigel as difficult to breed as Chromacorn. Galaxy dragons were once considered the most difficult to breed, but the epic dragons (and even some rare) over the last year have stolen the elusive crown. Chromacorn is only released during BEB (so far) and holds all the elements, so the number of breeding fails is almost 300. Rigel’s fails are far less (25-188) depending on which dragons are bred and because BEB isn’t active right now.

About once a week, when collecting Gems from a Coliseum Event, I am not offered those 2 extra Gems for watching an ad. Same thing happens periodically with the additional Ts’Aishen Chest. I haven’t spent any real 💰 in over a year so they shouldn’t have ‘put me on probation’ (maybe they should have 🥴). Anyone know why?

It's frustrating missing out on the Coliseum gems as you only get the chance to watch the video once. I have found that if I collect from a few habitats first before going to the Coliseum I have better odds of being offered the video. With Ts'Aishen, I haven't noticed missing out on the second chest. If it isn't there for you, perhaps check on your next visit to your park or again, after you've cleared a few habitats or redone breedings etc. Sometimes the free gem from the treasure icon isn't always available straight away either, but it usually turns up at some stage during the day.

thias was mentionned earlier from other players. There were two explanations: 1. If you don't see Tolzar's ballon when finishing the Colosseum, it won't give you extra gems 2. If you restart the Colosseum earlier than 24 hours have passed (it's possible after 23 hours), it won't give you extra gems
Maybe it's a bit of both. After the reset you might finish the Colosseum and take advantage from Tolzar's Balloon. Tolzar will be there after the next reset, but if you come back to the game earlier (but after the 23 hours for the colosseum have passed) and finish the colosseum before reset, you won't get the extra gems.

There are several factors that will make this the rarest dragon in game. First, I believe it's at a similar level to Chromacorn in percentage chance based on the lack of success stories in multiple Dragonvale communities in getting the Rigel. It reminds me very much of Chromacorn. Checking other player's parks, ones who seem to always have everything and amazing luck with new dragons, shows it missing too. We'll find out over the next few days as more people have more attempts, but I'm trying to set expectations on this one for those who consider spending large amounts of Etherium on breeds.
Second, this dragon has some very strict rules on breeding it. You must own all other Galaxy dragons, which rules out most newer players. None will get super lucky with a breed and get this dragon. That's just going to add to its rarity, as only well established players will get it.
And finally, it has 1/4 the time available that Chromacorn had originally. I'm betting that we've found a new king of rare dragons.
The last point I'd like to bring up is that I believe the number of fails do not matter for rare dragons. It's a shocker, given our history of trying to pick dragons that have less numbers of fails to breed for a result, but I really don't think the game works this way. Maybe I'm wrong and you can completely ignore this if you like, but I think we've been thinking about it wrong for years. I think the rare dragons all have a percentage chance of getting it with the right combination. That chance is modified by your dragon's level and by the bonuses if using an epic cave.
That chance is set regardless of the number of outcomes. If you fail the random percent chance to get these rares/limiteds, it picks a random hybrid between all the hybrid choices, weighing normal hybrids to be more common than golden rare ones. As a developer, I believe this way would be so much simpler to code and maintain than trying to figure out percentage chances between all possible outcomes of so many sizes that can occur, while keeping rarer dragons still rare but obtainable. We certainly know that every dragon is weighted differently, some are more rare than others, and that would fit with this method.
In part addendum, part rebuttal to Quil above, who I'm not quoting because it's right there and this post is long enough already (sorry):
The historic focus on minimising fails was, I believe, mostly down to epic contamination. When every breed was on a timer, introducing elements that result in unnecessary extra multi-day epic breeds was a serious issue when on the clock for availability. With the majority of breeds now taking place in the Rift, this is slightly outdated thinking. However, I believe that fail numbers DO matter, but only once you reach a certain threshold.
Breeding for Chromacorn or otherwise, using 10 element combos results in you getting mostly Rares and Epics with an occasional normal Hybrid. This supports your view on breeding with one notable exception: Goldens appear to be in the Rare pool and make up the majority of the results. Their very high breeding chance compared to the other Rares/Epics (roughly 5% iirc, compared to around 2% for most other Rares/Epics down to 0.5% for the really difficult dragons) as well as their sheer numbers is going to cause problems when you start stuffing them in your combos. We have what, 60 odd Goldens now? At 5% each? Something has got to give.
I don't know quite how the odds are compressed into the available space. For instance, whether Rares and Epics have separate effective percentage caps or if there is a single shared cap for the fixed percentage dragons would make a big difference. Either way, though, one ought to be careful when adding additional elements. Best case is with a separate Epic cap because then the Goldens aren't a problem, but there's still always the permanent Treasure Dragons, the 6 Olympus Dragons, and other Permanent Epics to potentially depress your odds. BeB of course makes this a lot worse.
I generally think that there's probably little difference between a 30 and a 40 dragon combo, but that 200 dragon combos one should try to avoid. I think it was this that contributed to Chromacorn's difficulty: it had both low base odds and the awful combo with everything in it. I think Rigel is more akin to something like Starshine. Same awful base chance, annoying prerequisites, but the compression math doesn't result in a mountain to climb on its own. It's worse of course because of the Rift unclonability factor, but I'm not sure it's enough to dethrone our Unicorn overlord quite yet.
(As an aside, for Galaxy pairing purposes I recommend ticking the Galaxy box on the Sandbox's Quest page to see their elements. Very helpful. And if you're lucky enough to be able to choose... for whatever it's worth, Nova and Singularity share their elements.)
the idea of set probabilities for epic and rares is not new. Remember the beginning of the game : Fletch_smf always spoke of set probabilities. He sometimes advised to put some more elements in the mix to lower the average time.
I always went with the fewest possible outcomes. I somehow doubt the idea of set probabilities.
Concerning the Rigel: There is a galactic egg in the daily rewards. Maybe that will raise the amount of people having a Rigel. Are those Eggs, given as daily reward, dragons that you don't own or have I only been lucky so far ? (with 86 dragons missing it is easier to avoid doubles )
And a question : if you get one Rigel (and have at least one other rifted Galaxy dragon), will it be possible to clone it in the rift ? Even when it's not available ?

Crumble, regarding your last qu stion: -no, you cannot breed the Rigel with anything else in the rift. The dragon is sort of greyed out and cannot be selected.
In part addendum, part rebuttal to Quil above, who I'm not quoting because it's right there and this post is long enough already (sorry):
I very much agree with you that avoiding long fails is of huge importance when breeding outside the rift. You clearly want to avoid things like double rainbows when possible when trying for a different rare dragon. And in the rift, those results are not as important as everything is instant.
On the discussion how my suggestion breaks when breeding Chromacorn + Chromacorn (or any other dragons with such a huge outcome of results), I believe the dragons will have set groupings in the results, and more common dragons have modifiers applied to their percentages based on their rarity and other factors which all then bring the numbers back down to a 0-100 percent range while keeping the rarest dragons at a steady, but low, percentage. This would mean that if you're trying for the newest super rare dragon, the number of outcomes don't matter. If you're trying for a fairly common dragon, say a golden hybrid, you'll want to prevent adding any rarer dragons to the mix that can lower your chances of that hybrid.
