Hello DV Friends!

The DragonVale team at Deca Games would like to receive feedback from players regarding their new event dragons. To capture an accurate account of our players’ assessments and responses, Rate a Dragon feedback threads will be created for each new dragon approximately one to four weeks after its release. This will allow players some time to breed the dragons and admire their fine qualities.

The Rate a Dragon threads will remain unlocked until the event concludes on 4 August. At the end of the event, your feedback will be passed on to Deca.

Please take a minute to rate the dragons from 1-5 for each category. You can either post your feedback on this thread, or message me. Thank you for participating, sharing your opinions, and making this game even better than it was yesterday.

The Origins of the Ahoy Dragon

The Ahoy dragon was designed by the incredibly talented Discord player Acoustic Eel for Deca’s Community Contest. Here’s a wonderful comparison of Acoustic Eel’s contest submission for the Lookout Dragon and Deca’s Ahoy Dragon.

1. Pins its tail like the pirate ship mast. Perfect for the event. 5/5

2. Too big. I get it was supposed to make the mast and lookout thing effective. But I would rather shrink it and make the tail longer. 1/5

5. Definitely a pirate dragon with the wooden scales like the ship. But it's in a lower quality unlike the other dragons. Why. 4/5

7. Honestly, I think DECA should have kept the name, Lookout, the unique element combination (they sure like repeating from older dragons lately) and the telescope. I would like it better that way.

7. This one is perfect for the theme. I do think the size is a bit too big with the animation. The original drawing is amazing. They need to be given a job designing dragons and eggs.

7. Deca should of kept the spyglass and the smooth appearance of the original dragon. The original egg is also nicer in my
opinion than what Deca came up with.
Maybe Deca should offer this talented person a job.

I very much feel like the dragon doesn't fit into the game. I don't like it when dragons include human elements (such as pirate clothing here). Not a dragon I plan on ever trying to get.

Notes: Design is great! I also commend you for referencing the spyglass in the description. Other than that, I find the original better in every day. It's sleek, and the sharp snout conveys that. The elements are also better. Don't get me wrong, it's a great design, but if you stuck closer to the original, it would have been greater.

7. Comments: DV is really lucky to have such talented players!! Deca didn’t have to do anything this dragon is almost exactly like how the player drew it. The adult Ahoy is blurry like so many of the new dragons. I think that should be fixed and new dragons adjusted so this doesn’t happen anymore. Congrats Acoustic Eel! Also, I love your username!

1. 4/5 I like the animation a lot but really wish it had the original spyglass. Without it, it looks as though it’s trying (& failing) to get its balance for no apparent reason.
2. 5/5 I usually complain about the size of some of these new dragons but Ahoy elegantly styles it out!
3. 4/5 Reasonable but could always be cheaper.
4. 5/5 Part pirate lookout, part ship’s mast, wholly perfect.
5. 5/5 Such a clever design (but should’ve definitely kept the spyglass), love the wood effect.

Size is, unfortunately, too big. Remember, the little visitors in the park are human-sized! This dragon is too big to fit on a ship (unless it's a huge ship), I think. 2/5

Ahoy is one of my favorite dragons in this event! It really is a nice design that blends seamlessly with the dragons already present in the game. I also love the description; it's one of my favorite little stories and explains the missing spyglass (and also add a touch of lore!). 5/5


Overall, this dragon is one of my favorites. It's design is great, the story is great, and pretty much everything but the size is also great! Shoutout to AcousticEel for the amazing design.

l. Rate Ahoy’s animation quality

The animation quality is incredibility smooth. It has a three dimensional look when its flying that I haven't seen in other dragons. I must say I'm impressed. And I like the way it teeters back and forth while standing on its tail. --- Giving it a score of 5.


2. Please rate Ahoy’s size.

This dragon is way too big! Even as a juvenile, it barely fits in any of the habitats I put him in. The only place that had enough room was the giant water habitat. I love this guy, but I think he should be a little smaller. --- Giving it a score of 2.5.


3. Rate Ahoy’s price (9,500 Doubloons).

This is actually a fairly decent price, in my opinion. --- Giving it a score of 4.


4. How well does Ahoy fit the theme of the event?

I think he fits in perfectly! He's the star of the event. 🌟 --- Giving it a score of 5.


5. Rate the attention to detail in Ahoy’s design

This dragon is beautifully detailed and wonderfully designed. I love the dark lines on his wings and body that give him a wooden appearance, like he's been carved out of the wood from a pirate ship and brought to life. --- Giving it a score of 5.

I absolutely love this dragon! He's at the very top on my list of all time favorite dragons. --- Giving it a score of 5.

Comment- I don’t know why DECA changed a few things, it feels like they felt they had to make it their own by changing something. Why change the gold tail,tip,color to silver? Looked way better gold and matches the leg gold details. Why not the spyglass? That was an excellent detail they took away. I do like the as baby version better though.
