My rift is already almost unplayable. If I get 20 more habitats, it will just... crash every time I attempt to breed or buy an egg. In the best case. The worst case is not being able to load it or my park anymore. Will DECA fix the rift lag, or give us options to disable all rift trait animation, etc? I have a fairly good if old device, so I'm sure there's a lot of players out there who won't be able to expand to make up for rising egg costs.

I'm sorry, I didn't see my comments were moved 🤦♀️🤦♀️

You don’t have to purchase the additional islands. Just keep your Rift the same size.
I don’t know how much Deca can improve the crashing situation. I do know that Backflip and Deca have always recommended a minimum of 4GB RAM to run DV smoothly with a large park. So it’s doubtful the 4GB RAM requirement can be lowered.

I do have more than that and it still lags. It didn't always, but it switched about a year ago and has been getting consistently worse for no reason. Not crash wise, but the lag. I'm blaming my aging phone, but even with a new one I'm not assuming it will go away.
How a small rift can cause more issues than even Genshin Impact I do not know, but it can't be normal. Theoretically my phone shouldn't bother trying to run anything not actively being used to conserve battery life, so I'm guessing that's an option. Whatever it is, the dragonvale rift is the biggest thing I could try to load as my phone goes. The rift is substantially smaller than a park, so I really don't know why it is like that, but it doesn't seem right or optimized.
I have a 3+ year old ipad, one of the largest possible parks with every dragon, egg, and decoration out, max rift, and I've never encountered even a brief laggy second in the game. Loading times are crazy long, but I know it's because the park is so big and they're not efficient in sending us park data at login. My phone, which is a year newer but has less memory, has no issues either. Smooth as silk. But on my devices that are 4+ years, the game is a mess. I have a newer pc (2-3 years) that can run DV in the Bluestacks emulator, with no lag. My previous PC had a terrible time running it.
The issues are very likely hardware, and specifically older hardware. More memory, faster memory, faster processors, everything helps. Most of us upgraded our phones every year or two back in the early days of smart phones. It was easy to keep up to date, the phone carriers would offer you free phones of the latest model for just resigning a contract. All that changed a while back, and the cost to upgrade was thrown back onto the consumer - and it's not cheap. I know a lot of people are now going 5+ years before upgrading, and others who will just never upgrade until their phone breaks.
The issue really has two sides. If you don't keep expanding the game, you lose players. The small size of the rift, with most of my dragons in storage, is my top complaint about the game today. But if you do expand the game, you may knock out people with older hardware and lose those players. They can't 'win' with either of these strategies.
I wish they could spend the time to optimize the game. Make it more efficient while playing the game. Speed up login - save a state locally and use hashes to compare to the server and keep that if nothing changed. The problem is all of this takes a lot of work and resources and likely pull away some of those employees from producing 'new' content. And we know they like their constant release of new events. I'm guessing that they hope players will eventually upgrade and the problems will just go away without any extra work.

Thank you, that might be it. I've ordered a new one with 8GB RAM. Supposedly fit to run Genshin Impact smoothly. Very good battery and not expensive at 295€. It will be here by the 9th.
I can report if that is good enough soon. It's a phone very well within the budget of most people, the feedback might be valueable.

It's not new-new, the model was released in oktober 2021, but you get it.
Actually no, messed up my google search by picking the wrong autocomplete. It was released march 23rd 2022. I expected older than that since it's cheaper than the 2021 phone, but alright. Average new as reasonable possible phone coming up, will report the difference
If that doesn't work out by the end of the months needed to get my rift running, it will receive the grade TERMINALLY AWFUL. If it does work out, it will receive the grade UPGRADE, PLEASE. YOUR BATTERY IS DYING.
5G access, 5000 for your battery number, 8 GB RAM, gorilla glas -- 295€ (supposedly in the middle for an okay phone!). Better camera than most. I'm not a phone person, but that's what most people will /need/ to upgrade to (minimum) soon enough if they value their battery.
(... You can get a phone with 6GB and 4500 battery strenght for that number, too, but lets assume people will not.)
I am a little bit confused as to when this is going live?
Is it going to be now at reset in roughly 6 hours (at the time of writing this), or is it going to be in another day, leaving a day between events? Normally there would be a timer for at least a day announcing the new event.

If some one could clarify I would appreciate that
We will have 24 hours between the event marketplace closing and the Riftspansion Extravaganza starting.
Oh my, I just saw this notice and I’m so excited! I’ve maxed out my habitats (including the extra I shelled out gems for) but would love to have more space to spread out and properly decorate! And I can’t wait to have more Rift dragons on display!
ETA: I just checked the price for a new Rift habitat and I need to get saving 🙃

Currently breeding for whatever twins I can possibly get my hands on
I just checked and another 20 habitats can easily fit if you have a fully cleared rift pre update. It's find it good knowing I wont have to worry about expanding out right away or anytime in the near future.
The 18-30k expanding costs take away some extra days, but I'm more afraid of the the 300k habitats turning into 500k habitats and finally a million+ black holes.
It might not happen at all, no need to catastrophize. However, I want to be prepared. A 4k increase and not 2k is also very much a worst case scenario. I'm going to have to do some math to gauge when the new upgrades will start paying off.
I usually don't look for when one habitat will pay itself off, but a series of three and so on. Say, if I make 600 more, I then need to collect 500 times to pay the first off if it costs this and that much. However I'm not a math person so finding a sweet spot will take /thinking/. Ugh
• Egg of Mystery 29,150 • Rare Egg of Mystery 57,300 • Epic Egg of Mystery 113,600 • Gem Egg of Mystery 170,900
Price to Clear Miasmic Ether
• Miasmic Ether #129 costs 32,250 Etherium, and increases by 250 Etherium with each purple puff cloud
Breeding Cost
• Previously, the price to breed stopped increasing after the 38th breeding attempt. Now, it stops at the 54th attempt. The Etherium cost to breed from attempt number 1 to 38 were not changed. Since no-one breeds more than 38 times per day, players won’t notice a change. (We have requested the new prices so it can be added to Forum’s Rift thread and Help Desk, and so DV Wiki can be kept up to date.)
