Was hoping for 1/2 off clearing in the rift or habitat price. Going to need all the additional habitats to create E to feed my mystery egg addiction with the new cap. 150% increase in the mystery egg cap, maybe we could of got the habitat max beyond the current 200 E?
Yikes!! A Regular Rift Habitat now costs 210,000 Etherium in my game and has a cap of 30 Etherium. That means I have to collect the maximum amount of 30 Etherium 7,000 times just to break even on the habitat purchase. I can increase the cap to 200 by spending even more Etherium on upgrades which drops the break even point to 1,050 collection times at longer intervals because it takes longer to get to the 200 cap than it does for the 30 cap. This is still a show stopper for me. And I am not going to use a Wish on a Rift Habitat. The economic model for the Rift is broken, but that’s old news.
Need help strategizing: clearing ether, buying rift habitat and upgrading rift habitat. I am thinking prioritize buying rift habitat.
The new line of clearable ether leaves a line of unclearable ether and will divide my rift park
I purchased the new habitats and levelled them up, clearing the Miasmic Ether needed to make room. For me, getting the level 18-20 dragons out of hibernation and into a Rift habitat so they can start earring Etherium was the priority.

The cost of my egg of mystery increased to 29150. I was at the previous cap. I would hope it would not be more than this.
Same here. I came to look in case it is a bug, especially since all the other costs are much lower. The rare eggs go for 18k and the epic eggs 26k. Gems eggs are at 15.5k.
I suspect the cap was /not/ increased, but a number in the scaling calculation.

The Rift habitat upgrades have not changed, and the prices for the new habitats are pretty much in line. It’s best to upgrade the habitats. It’s inexpensive and you can house more dragons so you’ll earn more. Overall, players should be collecting more Etherium with each visit, so the investment in the new and upgraded habitats will be absorbed.

I have argued for this theory of calculation before:
3 habitats (at max) are worth 600e. 210k:600 is only 350 times of collecting to pay off the first habitat. If the prices are constant, you can pay off three habitats by collecting 1050 times. As you can see these numbers are vastly different from 7000 for just one habitat. This is why I believe it's very Important for us to figure out the sweet spot of expanion rate.
For example, if I used 4 habitats, it would be 800e and hence 262.5 collections to pay off the first habitat. That's 1050 collections to pay off all 4.
If I used 5 habitats, it takes 210 collections to pay off the first one. To pay off all 5, it's 1050 collections.
So you see it's 1050 no matter if we start with 3, 4 or 5. In reality, we start off with 0 of course, but that's why you should expand as quickly as possible.
(I hope I didn't get anything wrong. There's a reason I didn't study engineering...)
Also, keep in mind my numbers are focused on "when will I get my money back?".
So of course with raising income it will take fewer and fewer times to collect from all habitats. I do not want to argue this model is best, or even good. It's just a viewpoint I wanted to share. I'd appreciate feedback or corrections a lot

The regular Egg of Mystery has a new cap at a whopping 29,150. But I don’t believe your other caps are correct. Definitely the Rare Egg of Mystery is not 20,000 and the Gem Egg of Mystery is not 15,500. The gem egg is showing at 17,000 in my game, because I never reached the limit. The former caps were: Egg of Mystery = 11,750, Rare Egg of Mystery = 22,500, Epic Egg of Mystery = 44,000, Gem Egg of Mystery = 66,500.
Deca said they were raising the caps. They never mentioned raising one and reducing the others (which would be odd). We’ve asked Deca for confirmation on the amounts. When they provide that, I’ll let everyone know.

I guess I assumed there would be a level increase with the expansion extravaganza. There usually is, isn’t there?
There’s no park level increase with this Expansion Extravaganza. In 2021, we had huge increases during a short span of time, taking us from 140-170. Therefore, I don’t expect another increase for a while. What we really need are more islands to put all the habitats that have been unlocked with levels 141-170.

On another issue, I'm extremely disappointed the mystery egg cost rose so sharply. Bug or not, having 36% more income does not excuse 148% in additional costs.
I really thought the rift would be getting more love. But, this expansion sends the message that DECA actually absolutely despises it instead.
The player is pretty much forced to say goodbye to mystery eggs for a year or pay for one egg what covered 2.5 previously permanently. If I had to sum up this expansion, it's a rift nerf with increased habitat limit.
It's absolutely terrible and I hate it. The only way DECA can make up it up to me personally is increased rift related content or a complete remodel in it's purpose.
The most positive thing I can say is that this might be viewed as a softer alternative to banning mystery eggs completely. Which, I suspect, might have been a main motivaton for this update while the habitat cap increase merely exists to placate angry players. They're selling it as a rift expansion, but that just /sounds/ nicer. End of rant

I can prove that these are the new values in my game. If they should not be, I will send a ticket to DECA support tomorrow.

The new mystery egg cap is ridiculously high. Even considering the new Etherium earning potential with the additional habitats, it’s still super exorbitant. Also, it’s unfair that players who were at the cap of 11,750 were automatically raised to the new cap. We should’ve been able to buy more eggs to reach the cap.
Calli, the FB rep, has brought this issue up with Deca. Hopefully, they’ll fix it, but no word so far.

I’ve been at 55 rift habitats for a long time and look at the break even purchase cost in terms of the next new habitat, just like gemstone habitats. With the inflationary cost mechanism now in the game, gemstone habitats, rift habitats, and rift mystery eggs are now prohibitively expensive in my game at level 170. That 200 etherium habitat cap is paltry when I consider depleting my etherium stash by 210,000 for the next habitat. In the vale, new islands are also expensive but I can buy them half price during the expansion extravaganza and dragon cash is much easier to collect than either etherium or gems. I won’t be expanding my rift until Deca inflates the etherium earnings rate. There is not enough etherium in the game to support the escalating cost of habitats, eggs of mystery, and a dysfunctional rift breeding cave.
The thing is, I'm pretty sure my gem cost has gone down and the others are the same as before. Well, maybe the rare egg was cheaper.
Whatever is up with these, they weren't rescaled like the mystery egg. Currently, the mystery egg is either bugged or DECA released slightly incorrect information.
I stopped bothering with gems eggs far from the cap, but the epic eggs might require a ton of purchases to rise since I could swear my last eggs were all in that range. However, I haven't bought anything but mystery eggs in a long, long time, so... that might be BS. But yeah, there's something wrong with the normal mystery egg for sure
If the mystery egg cost is going to nearly triple, then they needed to give us triple the number of habitats too. Then it at least stays even. With 30 new habitats, it should have gone up roughly 50%, not 300%.
Edit: The dragon ship rewards were increased, but they're still meaningless given the high costs. Example: 120 etherium instead of 30 for that extra work and cost?

Did I miss something? How do we collect more E unless we add habitats? My habitats still produce the same and it is going to take a while to get to 210,000 to even buy 1 more habitat. Are the new costly EOMs guaranteed to get a form of a dragon we don’t have? The last one I bought had a water rift in it. I could stomach fails and useless EOM better before the increase. My mountain just got impossible to climb. Actually makes me less inclined to try or spend rl$ on the game to get there to blur fire (was hard before, now impossible). This “extravaganza” needs to be renamed “inflation hits Dragonvale too”. I feel really bad for anyone who just got a new device for playing Dragonvale. Oh wait, that’s me.

I'm always a little suspicious of the break even rate. Expectation:reality for small increases, like 54 to 55, matches well enough in my brain. Large increases, not so much. Realistically, we need the number of days when the new income (4k) outpaces the expansion costs of the entire project.
Just for base habitats, no cleaning, no upgrades, it's 20x210k = 4.2 million. Let's say I can shave off 8k daily. That's... 525 days.
12k daily, 350 days. 16k for a more bareable 262.5 days.
About 300 days to break even for me personally. 200 to build (non stop with no mystery egg purchases). However, the break even timer does not start only after building the very last habitat, so it has to be lower than 300 days.
Maybe 250 days. This wouldn't be so bad a number if it didn't mean 200 days without mystery eggs. If it all costs 5 million e, that would have been 425 eggs before and 171 now.
I could survive not buying 171 terribly inflated mystery eggs, but I still seethe. I've got things to do, so since I'm not /actually/ chronically committed to DV, I'm still only passing up 171 eggs, but it will take me, what, 500-600 days?
(And that's assuming the price for each doesn't rise above 210k...)
I recognize the extremely online player will have their costs swallowed in 200-300 days. For me, though... do I want to just not buy eggs for two years??
I would /like to say/ this at least profits players who haven't been buying mystery eggs in forever. There's got to be people with 5m e lying around unused easily. But, the breeding cost cap went up, so is it even better?
Sigh. On a positive note, I have 25 billion without spending a wish. So that's great. And probably decently cheap to the mentioned extremely online players. DECA did not have to give us an island at all when they came after the rift.
I don't think they'll change their mind on the costs -- this was a targeted move to kill the mystery egg market.
However, there are some solutions to placate players, like a wish granting 5-10 mystery habitats. They're not completely without options.
Realistically, I'm afraid we should be glad that mystery eggs weren't wiped out of existence
Another point: actual rift events, more rift bound dragons, etc, could allow rift habitats to be purchased with event currency. That would be my ideal solution
