I know there’s a lot of chat on “breaking even” on the new Rift habitats and those prices are eye watering, but the key for me is being able to put more dragons out on display. The whole point of in game currency is to spend it to get the park you want, right?
Yup. It wouldn't matter at all how much the habitats cost if DECA hadn't exploded the mystery egg price.
The costs are only relevant to people who want to buy mystery eggs. Anyone else doesn't need all that e and doesn't lose anything from having an e sink. Well, if breeding prices stayed the same.
Conveniently, 76 habitats make just enough to allow you one mystery egg a day and have enough leftover for breeding. Even with only 3 logins.
However, everyone who has 55 will be forced to settle for one mystery egg /or/ breeding. I don't believe DECA is stupid, so it is highly caluculated towards this outcome. They want us to stop buying mystery eggs and use the meager leftover from not breeding higher than 2.5k towards rift expansion. This way it feels like /we/ decided not to buy mystery eggs. This is the entire problem. If you weren't relying on them before, nothing changed in your vale.
At some point I may want to expand Rift to the new dimensions and buy all the habits, but for now I’m happy to leave it ‘as is’. I would rather use my etherium for breeding. I like the design I already have for Rift habitats, too, and don’t want to mess with it. (I wish I had figured out how to post an image so I could show you; I’ll have to work on that.)
I expanded the Rift hibernation tower and will continue to store Rift dragons there until I need them for breeding. Rift is my breeding factory, so I don’t need to have everything on display there. My regular park will continue to be my decorating and display haven.
The cost of my egg of mystery increased to 29150. I was at the previous cap. I would hope it would not be more than this.
1. Deca confirmed this is a bug. Players who were at the old cap should not have been automatically pushed to the new cap. They should’ve been able to purchase more eggs to reach the limit. The DV Team is looking into the glitch.
2. Regarding the inflated prices to the mystery egg caps and new habitats, which was mentioned by almost everyone (so I won’t tag or quote all the posts), this is Deca’s reply.
It's important to note that you might be too focused on the short term justification of prices. In the long run with more habitats and dragons players will be earning a lot of Etherium and the prices will become more justifiable. In other words, with the expansion, increases have to follow otherwise it would quickly become too favorable especially when there's already too much Ethereum available in the game currently compared to it's value and usage.
Was hoping for 1/2 off clearing in the rift or habitat price. Going to need all the additional habitats to create E to feed my mystery egg addiction with the new cap. 150% increase in the mystery egg cap, maybe we could of got the habitat max beyond the current 200 E?
3. Currently, there’s no planned sale or discount for the Rift habitats and/or Miasmic Ether removal. Deca will be discussing whether they’ll do this in the future. Unfortunately, they have not given any indication that they’ll raise the Etherium cap on habitats.
Edit: The dragon ship rewards were increased, but they're still meaningless given the high costs. Example: 120 etherium instead of 30 for that extra work and cost?
4. Regarding the lacklustre Etherium returns for the Airship, the very low Etherium prizes at the Dragon Track (mentioned by bricetwice in the Dear Deca thread), and low Etherium rewards for Quests, Deca said,
We wanted to see how players would react on the Airship rewards improvement before changing the Quests and Dragon Track. Maybe in the future we’ll look into them as well.
Just one more whine (we need a wine lounge thread, then we all could vent there and you wouldn’t have to read it), as others have said, would have been nice to have the half price habitat in the rift to make it a true “extravaganza”. Oh and why weren’t the giant moon and sun habitats in the last event? They obviously were originally planned there since the giant moon habitat is on the splash screen for the event. Did they not want us to spend event currency to get them? They wanted us to spend gems? Not cool. (I guess that is 2 whines).
5. I asked if the Rift habitats could be included in the 50% off Expansion sale. Deca said there’s no plans for this, but they’ll talk about it (see #3). Regarding the exclusion of the Giant Moon Habitat from the Star Fall event, they said, 'We can’t really do anything about this at this point but indeed we could have better timed it.'
Can I visit the whine bar too? I’m sad about the placement of the new island. It crushes my dreams for a couple more oversized habitats to nestle in on either side of the 2 we have. I agree the huge Sun and Moon habitats should have been with the last event! I had lots of Stardust left (until I used it all on Solarflare pedestals) that I could have spent on Sun or Moon upgrades.
6. Deca will discuss relocating the 34th island. (See #5 for the reply to the Giant Moon Habitat)
7. There was a little confusion about the increase to the breeding prices at the Rift Breeding Cave. Previously, the price stopped rising after the 38th breeding attempt. Now, it stops at the 54th attempt. The Etherium cost from breed number 1 to 38 was not changed. Since no-one breeds more than 38 times per day, players won’t notice a difference (that’s an enormous relief!). But I have requested the new prices so it can be added to the Forum’s Rift thread and Help Desk, and so DV Wiki can be kept up to date.
8. Calli reported that the number of Rift island themes was not increased from 55 to 75. This was fixed today.
9. I asked if Deca would reinstate the Double Rift Extravaganza mini event, which doubles the Etherium earnings in all locations. It would be amazing if the mini event ran very soon and frequently, during events. Deca said they will discuss it, but no promises for now.

I had a brief "someone is lost in the rift, find them" just before the game close and reloaded.
Has anyone found anything/anyone in the new areas?
EDIT: Bought and upgraded all habitats, cleared most of the new rift, 16 million E spent, no shadows of buildings or anything to be seen.

That’s Roger! Roger has been missing for so long, the Rift was expanded to better find him. Although, by making the Rift larger, doesn’t that only create more space for him to be lost?

This is exactly how I feel. You can’t take the currency with you, so might as well spend it. When I was building up my park, I spent as much DC as I could to buy as many islands as I could afford.
Yesterday, I felt a wave of relief freeing a hundred Rift dragons from the Hibernation Cave and letting them romp in their new habitats. It’ll take several months to earn the Etherium back, but it was extremely well spent.

They can't be rift breed after all. But, they're frequent egg of mystery rewards and clogging up my egg gift list. I don't feel comfortable cleaning them out since they're so hard to breed. However, I haven't gotten them on bingo boards in a while...

It's the same size as the giant treasure habitat. Giant rainbow is only 7x7

It’s even larger than the Giant Rainbow Habitat. Giant Rainbow is 7x7. It’s the same size as the Giant Zodiac Habitat.
Sadly, I won’t be purchasing the giant Moon and Sun Habitats until we’re given more land.

Yes, Ghostly dragons appear on the donation boards. I received two during the last event that had the boards. Be sure to keep your Ghostly twin and mystery eggs. They come in very handy!

From what I've seen in a friend's park, the sun habitat, despite its massive size, has less height than the large one. That makes it fairly flat looking next to other sun habitats. It's rather tame and easy to work with. You can put it everywhere on a sun island.
The moon one, by contrast, is significantly taller than large moon. The row of moons under the big moon also add an optical illusion of even more height. You can't see through this habitat much at all. It swallows up any decorations put behind it.

Deca introduced the Expanded Lost Island of Olympus in September 2021 and has yet to include it in an event market. There’s a bug with the other expansion, so maybe that’s an issue. I purchased it last year because, quite simply, it is glorious. It’s a steal at 750 gems.
