Deca has confirmed that the Omegatat will not be added to the Wishing Well during the current Expansion Extravaganza. There is no confirmation that the Omegatat will be added to the Wishing Well at a later date.
The full price for the Omegatat is 3,500 gems. It is not 50% off, and the price will not be reduced this week. It may be on sale during future Expansion Extravaganzas.
Sorry it’s not better news, everybody.
In a way this is good news, because we at least have confirmation that it won't normally be 7,000 gems. I can wait for it to possibly be available for half off at a later date, maybe a year from now.
It really is starting to look like they may have space for another gigantic island, and maybe on the other side we'll get another megatat to give us a bit more symmetry. It may be a long term plan, and I guess it's sort of starting to come together.
--- I was one of the people who were really excited about the Megatat last year, and got it immediately, but I'm waiting on the Omegatat upgrade for sure. Was really glad for the expansion event timing, though it is kind of odd that it's this far into when the Christmas event normally would start. I wonder if the Christmas event will run as long as it normally does (~42 days) or if it will just be a shorter event this time.

Certainly not happy about the news, but expecting it after it wasn't part of the wishing well last week. The concern I have is that they gave no heads up to players that gems would play such an important part in an upgrade in the future. I've spent years playing this game, spending my gems as I get them to get extra social attempts at new dragons and for twins and twin weekends. I've saved my wishes for the big cost items. This tactic has worked since the early days of DV. I often live at under 100 gems, and it works.
Now I'd like to have 3500 gems for the upgrade. It's going to take a very long time to save, and I'll have to choose between that and twin attempts. Had they announced earlier this year that players should think about saving for a new gem only 'thing' later in the year, I might have been able to make some headway into saving the needed amount. This is a big change to DV. And of course, there's that little fear in the back of my mind that they'll go this route with other new things too. A new dragon evolution that can only be done for 2000 gems, or something else new and only obtained for 5000 gems, those types of examples (and no, I know of nothing like that planned!). That's not as bad as something that can only be found with straight up cash, but it's a small step in that direction.
Now I just need to decide if I want to keep getting dragons, or save for this upgrade. Or hope that they add it to the wish sometime before I manage to save.

I think that Deca were unlikely to change the availability or cost of the Omegatat while the Expansion Extravaganza was still running. Some players had already purchased it for full price and they might have asked for 1/2 their gems back.
Hopefully once the Expansion Extravaganza has finished it will be included in the Wishing Well shortly afterward and in the next Expansion Extravaganza it will be half price.

Sorry Deca but 3500 is too much an ask for me, Its a nice upgrade but since its 4000 gems for $100 its not worth an increase of 15 dragons and 6.5M dc. especially when I got the megatat with a wish and would gladly sppend another wish for the upgrade.

If you’re planning on taking advantage of the Expansion Extravaganza’s free removal of trees and rocks, be aware Islands 11 - 36 take 60 hours to summon. You’ll want to purchase the islands now so they’ll arrive on time for free clearing. Don’t forget to use Kairos or gems to speed up the summoning process.

Yeeooouucchhh. Spending 3500 gems is like ripping off a bandage. Very painful and quick.

Thank you so much for the reminder! I always forget! I will need to use Kairos.
Got my new island cleared and Halloween themed. To start the horror show out right Mrs. Murphy’s School and The Homework now have a permanent home. There is also a Cursed Clock next to The Homework to inform everyone that the homework they thought due today was actually due yesterday. For kids of a certain age nothing says Christmas like detentions and make-up homework assignments. Happy Holidays!

Can anyone suggest some dragons that will actually walk on the top section of the Omegatat? I have a few that fly high above the island but all the others have divided into groups and spend their days at the swimming pools. It seems like a waste of space, not to mention gems, if the dragons don’t use the area.

Shame. If it had been 50% off, I could afford to buy it.

Deca made a tactical blunder by pricing the Omegatat at 3,500 gems. You can currently exchange 50 gems for 2,276,688,500 DC which makes each gem worth 45,533,770 DC. Multiply that last figure by 3,500 gems and you get an equivalent cost of 159,368,100,000 DC (159 billion and change) for an Omegatat, hardly a bargain, and something that probably not very many players of any vintage can, or are willing, to pay. I’m sure this point has already been made to Deca. My two cents.

The Trade feature (gem/DC) is based on park level, so a lower-level park will not receive nearly as much DC. The exchange is very generous at max level (it's really only worth it at max level). I don’t think Backflip or Deca uses it as a valuation for gems or DC since it’s on a sliding scale. But it is perfect for players at level 175 who don’t have a DC farm and need a lot of DC instantly to buy more islands.
The only oversights I believe Deca made with the Omegatat were not putting it in the Wishing Well and not discounting it for the Expansion Extravaganza. It’s strange that all the other islands and upgrades were on sale except the Omegatat. I also think the price is a little high. The Megatat is 3,000 gems, so you’d expect the upgrade to be around 2,500. It’s unusual that it costs more than the Megatat.

The price is out of line with the desirability of owning Omegatat for those players to whom decorating is a major aspect of the game; the color and design are inconsistent with rest of islands …and of course …it can’t be decorated. Other factors; the cap on both dragons and coin accumulation is low, the Megatat only gives event currency based on it being one habitat. Recognizing the technical constraints may be a barrier to decorating; making it in the same color spectrum and some landscaping that blended better with existing islands would get it a top rating from me. I care more about the appearance than the currency.
