Our lovely Worms designed the Rougevent Dragon for the previous Community Design Contest. Deca released Rougevent into the Vale with a new name, Khamsin!

If they would let us switch off that stupid rain once for good! Comes back at each relaunch of the game. I hate it.
I didn't know that it's raining. I've had the weather station set to autumn leaves this whole time and it hasn't been raining in my corner of the world.
I think this may be an old glitch I saw before. When I tried setting the weather station for none, the weather (say rain for example) kept coming back every time I restarted the game. But if I set it to anything other than none, then the rain went away.
Also, the rain is needed to evolve Aubergine. So it has its uses. :)
You’re absolutely correct. That’s how the Weather Station works. If Deca has set a weather (like rain), it will override the player’s None setting. But it won’t override the player’s selected weather.
It’s not a bug, rather it’s by BFS’s design. Until there’s an on / off switch for the Weather Station, there needs to be a weather setting that acts like an on / off switch (like None). Otherwise, players will never know which weather setting Deca has activated for an event.

So for the first time in a while, I don't have old dragons to breed for. So I guess my breeding caves are just to make spice for the moment. Has anyone done any math on breed times > Spice conversion, to optimise this?
It depends on how frequently you can open the game. If you can play every four hours, breed Water + Water, eight hours breed Metal + Metal. This way you can guarantee you won’t get fails that are too short or too long.
A tip for those who have a bit of time: I noticed pumpermelon gives me 4 cones ( or whatever it’s called I this event) after 6 hours. Growing Plant/ plant gives me 2 units at breeding and 2 at hatching the egg, ie same amount as pumpermelon but takes 1 minute. And … it costs you almost nothing. Is especially efficient on double days of course.
I use Jelly Plant, because it has one of the best DC to treat ratios in the game. For this event, it pays out the same amount of Spice as Pumpermelons and other treats, but only takes an hour. It’s only treats that take less than an hour to grow that won’t payout Spice.
Plant farming (Plant + Plant) is also a good way to obtain event currency, but it takes a lot of time and patience to earn enough to make a difference.

Thanks Deca for making yesterday a Double Day! I wasn’t expecting that at all. I always wait for a Double Day to speed breed and use Kairos so I’m getting as much magic or spice as possible and it’s worth spending the gems. I was able to breed all the new event dragons, so now I’m trying for pedestals and twins. I love the cloning percentages and the new dragons so far are really amazing!
EDIT
I forgot to mention I know people like to hear about the combos. I cloned
Sow + Forest - took 8 tries Khamsin + Ghostly Earth Elder - took 2 tries Razortail + Ghostly Plant Elder - took 5 tries

We had almost identical cloning pairs and results!
Except I used Frostbite instead of Forest. The elders are always so good for the golden hybrids!

Been trying for Khamsin all day, but he's hiding in the wheat fields and I can't find the little fuzzball.
At least the fails are short. I have an overabundance of Earth and Air primaries, but that's better than Double Rainbow.
I got it with Ghostly Earth on second try, dunno why it didn't put up a struggle (maybe it tried to make up for the Koalas that deserted me last event)?
I knew I'd heard the name before, though. Desert wind. So much for those environmental documentaries....
Same with me and adlerist too! Khamsin in two tries with Ghostly Earth Elder!
Maybe Worms brought us some luck 😀
You’re so right about those documentaries coming in handy lol! I love the name Khamsin although I would not like sandy wind getting in my eyes.

Khamsin worked with Elder Air for me - although it took 8-10 tries. I should have switched to Ghostly Earth Elder!
Sow was quick using Elder Dark.
Sandy wind is a great exfoliator - although it can be more like being sandblasted if there is too much wind.

Currently breeding for whatever twins I can possibly get my hands on
I bought the dream theme. It is very fun and colorful. It is to the left and easily found. I also bought the windmill. It is a really nice deco that spins around constantly. I put it on the Autumn theme Earth island if anyone wants to check out either.
I visited your park amos to see if you had the Dream theme before seeing your post! I just had a hunch you’d have it & it looks great (love the bubbles) so I’ve bought it too. Must go back & check out your windmill 🙂
PSA: DragonVale’s daily reset did NOT change today with the US daylight saving time.
Daily Rewards, Gifts, Rift breeds, Dragon Track, Tolzar, Ts’aishen, etc, all reset at the same time as yesterday.
It appears DV is not recognising daylight saving time at all 🤪. I’ve asked for clarification once again. Sorry for the confusion. This is just as baffling for us, because it was confirmed the game would follow US DST.
PSA: Good news for DragonVale players in the US! DV’s reset time will follow US daylight saving time.
Deca has confirmed DV’s daily reset will not change with Europe’s daylight saving time on 31 October. But the reset will fall back one hour on 7 November, when daylight saving time ends in the US. Hopefully, this will be less confusing for US players. If you’re in CET, please note the time change.
Reminder: tinight the summer daylight saving time in Germany ends. We will turn the clock from 3 AM backwards to 2 AM. Don't know, if the game is affected by this.
Thank you, crumble608 ! I have adjust the clock on the Home page.

Hi, I was wondering if it's possible to ask DECA to reverse the order of the treats in the farms. With harvesting treats a source of spice in this event, there's need to vary the treats planted to maximize the spice gained. Sometimes, my fat fingers or a slight lag in the game and I end up planting way more than I should. Did anyone else encounter this too?

I could ask Deca to do this, but you shouldn’t need to vary treats to receive Spice. The less time it takes for a treat to grow, the greater chance it won’t payout Spice. If you plant a lot of treats that take 5 - 30 minutes, you’ll receive less Spice than if you plant 2 hour crops. So unless you can visit your park every 5 - 30 minutes, it’s probably better to plant Fiery Figs or Talontaters at 2 hours, than Zazzberries and Dragon Root.
However, Jelly Plant appears to be an exception, and offers Spice every time. Or at least, that’s been my experience with it, so no guarantee.
All crops that do payout Spice provide the same amount: 2 Spice per farm (4 Spice per farm on double days).
Therefore, even if Jelly Plant is paying out most of the time and not all the time, it’s by far the superior crop for Spice production because it only takes one hour. But it’ll still require a lot of dedicated logins to reach the Spice cap for treats. If you have 13 treat farms and can harvest Jelly Plant 10 times in a day, you’ll max the Spice limit of 250 Spice (500 Spice on double days).

I don't really understand how reversing the order would stop someone from planting too much...?

I used to have various problems due to screen sensitivity the first month after returning to dragonvale (e.g. accidentaly dragging habitats). The solution was to turn it down. DECA might advice that, too.
With my adjusted settings, accidentally planting something or dragging a habitat happens extremely rarely. Once a month, max.

Thanks so much. I was varying the treats I plant based on the estimated time that I'll be away from the game. So like I'll plant the 6-hour ones during bedtime. Sometimes it'll be two hours or 1 hour hence I would scroll the menu quite often
