DragonVale has a number of dragons that have been designed or inspired by player’s creations. When Backflip Studios was operating DV, players posted their dragon artwork on the Dear Backflip Studio! page. This is how the Sakura and Firework dragons found their way into our parks.
In 2016, Backflip held the DragonVale Fan Faire. Eight winners received a trip to Backflip Studios and helped design the Portent dragon.
In 2020, when Deca Games officially took on DV, they developed Community Design Contests. From these contests, Gatren, Ahoy, Ikatako, Aperture, Wilderness, Khamsin, Razortail, Lightmare, and Lumineux have be brought to life in the Vale.
