Due to a potential limit on the number of friends a player can have before issues arise in the game, I will only be able to add Forum members. Thank you, for your understanding, and please consider joining us!
On the Home page, find the board that contains the thread you would like to post on (see How to Navigate the Forum for information on boards and threads). Each board has a description of the threads it holds.
To post on a thread, click the Reply button in the top-right-hand corner of the thread and the posting box will open.
1. The posting box has two tabs, Preview and BBCode. You can type your message in either. The difference is the BBCode tab will show the BBCode for the formatting of the post. You can also type BBCode directly into the BBCode tab. The Preview tab will show what your post will look like before it’s posted.
2. The buttons on the top of the posting page will add the formatting and BBCode for you. So if you want your text to be in bold, highlight the text and select the button with the B.
3. Type your message and when you’re done, click the Create Post button.
QUICK REPLY
You can also use the Quick Reply box at the bottom of each thread. Simply type your message into the box, then click the Post Quick Reply button, and your message will be posted to the thread. Quick Reply does not have any formatting buttons, but you can manually add BBCode and it will format your post. If you click the Reply button in the upper right corner, the posting box from the above image will show with the formatting buttons.

Sometimes members will need to reply specifically to a person or a post. There are several ways to quote a post.
Click the Quote button in the upper right corner of the post you would like to quote. The posting page will open and the post will already be quoted in the message box.
To start your message, if you’re in the Preview tab, place your cursor below the quoted box (if needed use the return key on your keyboard to create more space between the quote box and the cursor. Type your response.
If it’s difficult to place the cursor outside the quote box, or if you’re on a mobile device and it’s difficult to accurately tap below the quoted text, switch to the BBCode tab. On the BBCode tab, place your cursor anywhere after [/quote] and your reply will show beneath the quoted post.
A QUICK AND EASY WAY TO QUOTE A POST
When I was experimenting on the Forum, I found another nifty way to quote a post!
Go to the thread that has the post you want to quote. In the Quick Reply box at the bottom of the thread, type your message. Find the post you want to quote (it can be on any page in the thread, but the post has to be located in that thread). Click the Quote button on the post. Click the Create Post button to publish your post. That’s it!

The DragonVale Community Forum has a new posting policy. For most threads, only members will be able to post and reply. There will still be some threads open to guests, including Friend Requests, Cooperative Requests, and Rate a Dragon.
Over the last couple years, we have received a number of concerns and complaints. We tried to address the problem with a variety of different strategies, but it has not been fully successful. This new policy should resolve the issue.
Eventually, we would have reached this point. The Forum was the only DV community that allowed anonymous posting. All other sites, including Reddit, Discord, Facebook, etc, require a membership/registration/account. Allowing open posting put the Forum in a vulnerable position with spam bots and trolls. To better protect the Forum and its members, we have taken this preventive measure.
IMPORTANT: Only the posting permissions have changed. All members and guests can still view the public threads, as usual.
The following boards are open for all guests and members to post
• Rate a Dragon: this board contains all the current Rate a Dragon threads
• Friends Centre: Friend Requests and IDs and Cooperative Requests threads
The following boards require a membership to post
• All Things DragonVale: current event and other active DV discussion threads
• The Colosseum: Last Call and miscellaneous DV competitions
• DragonVale Gallery & Member Creativity: threads for artists, writers, musicians, and parkitects to share their talents and masterpieces
• DragINN: off topic conversations and friendly chatter
• Spoiler Lounge / DV Spoilers: to see this category, board, and its contents, you will need to be a member and join the Spoiler Group
I know a lot of members use the New Posts button on the navigation bar. The problem with New Posts is it lists every thread on the Forum, even those that are expired and locked. As we’ve grown, there are many new and active topics. Clicking on the boards to navigate the Forum will be much easier and faster. For example, if you don’t want to see all the Rate a Dragon threads (there will be ten for this event!), click on the board that has the threads you’re interested in reading, and Rate a Dragon won’t show. Expired threads are moved to the Reference Desk, so they will not appear on the active boards as well.
Apologies for any inconvenience the new policy may cause. We believe this is a necessary step, as our community continues to expand and thrive. In addition, it will allow us to better help players through messages and other Forum features, and protect the Forum and its members from any unwanted activity. Thank you, everybody!
