Every day the Colosseum has an event where you can sign up one of your dragons for a chance to win medals and rewards.
Each day there is a new element required for the Colosseum. The type of element can be determined from the element name at the top of the event screen, the flags flying outside the building or the landscape inside the Colosseum.
The elements change every 23 hours. They rotate in this order : Plant, Fire, Earth, Metal, Light, Dark, Air, Cold, Lightning, Water.
To choose a dragon to compete, touch the Colosseum to view the event screen and select a dragon. Use a high level dragon to maximise the chance to receive a Gold Medal and maximum rewards.
The dragon in the Colosseum does not earn income in its habitat during the event, although first place awards ten times the income the dragon would have earned over the 24 hour period – its base rate - without any boosts.
At the end of the 23 hours, medals are awarded based on your dragon’s performance. There are Gold, Silver and Bronze medals awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Rewards include a medal, gems, dragoncash, and experience.

10% of the experience needed to the next level
100% of earnings for 24 hours x 10
Silver
2
5% of the experience needed to the next level
50% of earnings for 24 hours x 10
Bronze

None
25% of earnings for 24 hours x 10
Note: • Experience rewards are based on your level at the time you start the event, not at the end. • Dragoncash is based on the level of the dragon that was entered into the Colosseum. • Gemstone dragons earn Dragoncash from the Colosseum not gems (except as rewards at the completion of the Colosseum event) • The Colosseum cannot be sped up using gems or Kairos. It must run for the full 23 hours. • Although the Colosseum is reset every 23 hours, it awards dragoncash on the basis of 24 hours. • While there doesn't seem to be any notable difference in win rate between Elder and level 20, if your Epics are much lower level (say, due to missing the Relic of the Epics) then it's probably not worth the potential loss in gems to use one of the higher earner dragons.
Tips • At the end of the 23 hours, there is an option to watch an advertisement for extra rewards. For a Gold placing, you can receive another 2 gems and an extra 50% of the dragoncash that was awarded. • To maximise the amount of dragoncash received from the Colosseum, it is recommended to use high level, high earning dragons.
