The Rift trait is very difficult to see. I like a subtle Rift trait, but there could have been a bit more. Mesmer has a lot of detail and is perhaps a bit too detailed. Masque is a fitting parent, although it is not an easy dragon for a newer player to breed. Scorn doesn’t really fit. It is too expensive as there isn't a way to earn as much currency this event.

The baby is cute. The adult... not so much. When I first saw Mesmer, I kinda liked it and didn't get why I was seeing negative impressions of it. It has this out-there design that felt interesting. But then I bred it and saw it move in-game. The adult is... eh. Its animations make me uncomfortable. It's mesmorizing but in a bad way. It moves like a person in a fursuit, hitting that stiff uncanny valley of anthropomorphism. When it does its roaring animation, it makes me think of a mascot character you'd see in a theme park laughing, but maniacally. Its accessories don't make it feel any less unnatural. Also, the thinner outlining on the adult as a result of its high detail makes it stick out oddly compared to its baby form.
I suppose there's an interesting concept behind this dragon, but the execution feels lacking to me. I tend to dislike anthropomorphic dragons in this game on principle, with a few rare exceptions. In the realm of dragons based on hypnosis, I like the Hypnotic Dragon way better than Mesmer.

1. Animation: 3, the ideas are there but the dragon just feels stiff and janky. these animations would have been better off on a less ugly dragon

MESMER DRAGON: 1. Animation = 4.0 2. Rift Trait = 3.5 Not as visible as I desire, but decent where it's at 3. Size = 4.5 4. Price = 2.0 Dragons like this should be price capped at 14-15k currency 5. Theme Relevancy = 4.0 I liked the event lore in their description, reminds me of the Halloween horseman dragons a little 6. Design Details = 2.5 Would work better with having a scaly dragon belly instead of "fur", too many wing thingies for my liking 7. Breeding Combo = 2.0 Sooo many long fails, with many having a fairly high occurance rate (Looking at you, base 7% SCORN) 8. Do I Like It? = 3.0 Overall. Probably the most consistently disliked dragon of 2022 so far, and I can see why people have that sentiment. Calling it a fursona is a little bit of a stretch though xD.

I like how Mesmer’s tail swings back and forth like an upside down pendulum, as if it’s hypnotising everyone. But then, Mesmer starts dancing with the swishing tail, and it looks like something a Melody dragon would do. It’s not mesmerising at all and doesn’t fit the dragon.

When there’s four new dragons in the event market, plus four new limited dragons, and only Eggy Hatchy as the mechanism for event currency, 17,000 Roses is far too much. Either reduce the prices for all the dragons, or have Eggy Hatchy payout a lot more, or raise the breeding and cloning percentages, or all of the above.

A Franz Mesmer hypnotising dragon fits a sweet dreams theme. It would’ve been nice to have the hypnotism / mesmerism theme run throughout the event.

I don’t understand why the breeding combo isn’t Hypnotic + Psyche. Mesmer is clearing drawing inspiration from both of those dragons and their concepts.

Baby Mesmer is terrific. One of the criticisms I had with Cupido is that the baby is exactly the same as the adult, just 50% smaller. That formula would’ve worked perfectly here, with an adult Mesmer that looked exactly like the baby, just twice as big.

Mesmer is overly detailed and unnecessarily complicated. There’s mesmerism, hypnotism, psychic powers, mythology, and koala concepts all running through one dragon. DV dragons aren’t overburdened with multiple themes. Hypnotic embodies hypnotism with its swirly eyes and wings. Psyche portrays telepathy in a meditative baby form and a transformed adult. Animal dragons, like Reindeer, just look like a reindeer. Since each dragon holds one origin source, there’s no room for it be overly detailed. If Mesmer had a single concept, it would’ve made the dragon and its representation clear.

Comments / feedback for Deca (optional) This dragon is way too busy. There’s feathers sticking out everywhere, including its left elbow, yet there’s no feathers on its right elbow. Why? When you look at all the other dragons in DV you can see how this one doesn’t fit in.
