Deca Games has developed a series of questions to gather feedback from players regarding their new event dragons. To capture an accurate account of players’ assessments, Rate a Dragon threads are created for each new dragon. These threads will be available approximately one to four weeks after a dragon’s release to allow players some time to breed the dragon and admire its fine qualities.
The Rate a Dragon threads will remain unlocked until the event concludes on March 9th. At the end of the event, your feedback will be passed on to Deca. I will be combining the Forum and Discord responses together and submitting it to Deca under the title of both communities.

... *sigh *takes a deep breath I have a new least favorite dragon here.
1. 1.1 No, you little thing. Trying to levitate and never going through a portal won’t justify you blending in the Vale. The tail acting like a metronome and glowing feathers is fine, but what else are you trying to achieve.
2. 1. I fear they given up on traiting just on anything. That design could be better if the trait flushes out more color of the feathers and belly but in reality, nothing changed. What even the point of me collecting traits if nothing much changed. Oh and I’ve got a Dark trait one. Nothing changed.
3. 3.3. It’s decent sized at least. Only "saving Grace".
4. 1. Awful dragon. Awful price. Especially that Astraline being much lower than Cupido pulled hopes up.
5. 1. Not fit. Why. Oh? It’s for Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras? Still feels redundant, just like Masque and Dargon. Seriously, was Carnival not a Dragon anymore?
6. 1. This is a mess. A mess. A big mess. I feel the feathers, tail and the mask could work well on an Asian dragon, but then the designers think: "Hey, koalas are a meme in the DragonVale forums, so let’s model it after one!” And it backfired like they didn’t learn from Raccoon fursona Squish. They are importing Fursonas to DV and it’s destroying the spirit of the Vale. Oh wait, I can’t even call it fursona anymore. This is more like Mary Sue (or is it Gary Stu?). That’s how they are defined right? Koalas with sunglasses do not equal dragon.
7. 1. Not cool. One of Zumi’s parents (Snowball) are nearly impossible to breed and they repeated it again with Masque in this fool. While it makes a tiny bit of sense cuz of appearance and what it’s actually here for, it’s still unfair. Also, Scorn for the other parent? Why? Because Discord fans seeing this dragon will get Scorned upon seeing this? Or to excuse the furry bodyshape? Or maybe they really want to avoid using permanent dragons to get players to buy it. I’m sure Hypnotic could fit.
8. 1. More like fat -0.00000000000001. Mary Sue. Keep this furry out of my park. I miss Techno already.
9. Oh yeah. It’s pure flipping Aura. While "Dreamland" in the description which connection to hypnosis. Whoop-de-doo. Jeez, if DECA likes Auras, why don’t they go marry them while they are divorcing with the dream element. Sweet Dreams? This event might as well be just Sweet Valentines or specifically Sweet Auras. The "Dream” part is a fakeout. We could even have three Dream/Aura Dragon in form of Cupido, Astraline and this stupid furry. Garbage like these makes me wish I’m allowed to leave rating less than 1 again.
At this point, DECA is rushing dragons, copy their data (even Quil revealed Astraline was going to be Aura before it was changed due to complaints), causing them to have uninspired elements, sound and even earning rates. Every Melody Dragon are carbon copies of each other.
If this is really the new formula of making new dragons, then I’m losing interest and I’m out.

MESMER DRAGON
1. Animation - 4/5 - lots going on here so i like that but i can’t really figure out what it is. Is it an evil eye over his head that he removes or just an hypnotic eye? Read his description and that led me to Lemnos which is a gorgeous island in Greece with all kinds of wonderful things to see and do. It was completely covered by a volcano at one time and home to the Greek god of fire and metal working who was supposed to be the ugliest god. Don’t know if any of that was relevant here. Seemed like a kind of dance & that image that pops up behind him is odd too. I like lots of activity but wondered what it was about here.
2. Rift trait - 5/5 - looked good
3. Size (if you don’t own Mesmer, please check a friend’s park) -5/5 - fits well size-wise
4. Price (17,000 Roses) - 2/5 - too expensive. I always think all of them are too expensive! There are too many other things i want to spend my stash on.
5. How well does Mesmer fit the theme - 5/5 - seems he casts spells so that fits dreams well - doesn’t go well w/a Valentine event
6. Design details - 4/5 - very detailed and intricate and unique but in the adult form seems odd & hands and legs & movements are strange. Once adlerist showed him as a koala then i could really see him as cute. Love this baby form and will keep all my Mesmers in the baby form. Adult form is definitely strange but baby form is adorable!
7. How would you rate Mesmer’s breeding combo? (MASQUE + SCORN) - 3/5 - okay for me but again feel badly for those starting off in dragonvale and may not have some of these harder-to-get dragons.
8. How much do you like Mesmer? - 5/5 - LOVE ❤️ the baby form! 🥰 All of mine will stay this way 👍🏻

Just to be clear, I thought Mesmer looked like a koala with sunglasses, so I made a post about it for fun. This was not necessarily Deca’s intention or inspiration. I doubt Deca thought, 'Hey, those people on the DV Community Forum sure do talk a lot about koala bears. Let’s make a dragon that looks like a koala with sunglasses so they’ll like it.' Therefore, nothing 'backfired' in their design choice, since we don’t know what inspired Mesmer. Except, of course, the obvious reference to Franz Mesmer.

2. Rift trait: 1 One will need a microscope to notice how ridiculously subtle this placement is.
3. Size: 2 For how ridiculously over-detailed this dragon is, its small size does no favors.
4. Price: 1 Ah yes, the highest event currency price in the game (I thought we were done with dragons hitting this price)
5. How well does Mesmer fit the theme: 3 I mean I guess it hits the dreams part? Nothing about it feels sweet or lovely though, like the other half of the event's theming.
6. Design details: 1 Horrendously overdesigned.
7. How would you rate Mesmer’s breeding combo: 2 Masque kinda fits, since it has a masque, but it's a ridiculously hard combo that isn't helped by low-ish odds.
8. How much do you like Mesmer: 1 Wow the team really screwed up every single possible component of this design! The team can't keep making mistakes this low!
Comments: please please PLEASE make some improvements on the design process! 1) Stop making things overly-detailed 2) Stop giving dragons human-like statures 3) Stop making every single event have no easy combos and only medium - impossible combos 4) Stop with the boring elements 5) Stop with the horribly subtle trait placements
This dragon has just about everything wrong with DECA all compounded into 1 dragon. This is my new least favorite thing they've ever designed (and I thought nothing would beat out Tranquil)

1. Animation: 3 He has a shtick that isn't too annoying. It seems like natural behaviour and it's entertaining. I'm confused by the eye that decides to fly off.
2. Rift trait: 1 What rift trait?

4. Price (17,000 Roses): 1 Too much for me to get him simply to fill my Dragonarium.
5. How well does Mesmer fit the theme: 2 This dragon feels more like something from a fever dream.
6. Design details: 2 Well. It's certainly got details. I feel like someone was dared to produce a dragon from the random items they pulled out of a bag.
7. Combo (MASQUE + SCORN): 3 Masque makes sense. Maybe Hypnotic or Psyche for the other parent?
8. How much do you like Mesmer?: 1 The good news is, I like Cupido more now. I'm sorry to whoever designed this guy. I just haven't found anything I like about the adult (the baby is fine). He reminds me of 80s cartoons. That one hand (my left, his right) feels like it came out of Thundercats. And he just doesn't look like a dragon. His colours are really pretty though, and the wings were really well done.

Mesmer: 1: 3 2: 2 3: 5 4: 1, very expensive 5: 3, not clearly associated with theme 6: 2, so detailed it feels a bit chaotic 7: 2, challenging because of long fails 8: I much prefer dragons that look a bit like dragons, ha. Don’t love biped, quasi human creatures. Prefer quadruped dragons with added whimsy. Love the baby version.

4. Price (17,000 Roses) - 1 (oh my!! Highest priced dragon in along time, I think
5. How well does Mesmer fit the theme - 2 (I'm not really sure of its purpose. This one would be great for Halloween)
6. Design details - 3.5 (simpler might have been better, which might have reduced the cost)
7. How would you rate Mesmer’s breeding combo? (MASQUE + SCORN) - 1 (partially because I don't understand Mesmer. took me almost the whole event to breed a masque in rift, however I have not been able to breed a Mesmer since it became available in my park or in rift. I think parents are way too hard to obtain)
8. How much do you like Mesmer? (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) - 4 (I started out not liking this dragon much, but the more I look at it, the more I like it)
NOTE - ADDED COMMENT to pick your favorite dragon thread. Comments / feedback for Deca (optional) - I have only been able to breed 4 of the 8 dragons in this event, which means I've had to buy them with roses. I'm not very good at eggy hatchy, which means I don't like to play it. Looking in my dragonarium, excluding ghostly dragons, these are the only dragons I will only have one of. Orlena is the only one I have been able to breed in rift . So for me the breeding of the dragons in this event has been terrible. Here's hoping for more luck and enjoyment in the next one.
1. Animation - 5 Au contraire! I like this dragon. Mesmer looks to be derived from Native American shamans (mystics) who performed all manner of ceremonies and rituals for their tribes. In this context Mesmer’s features (mask, feathers, tail, floating orb, and animation) make more sense and look really good.

4. Price (17,000 Roses) -1 (read minus one). Far too expensive!!
5. How well does Mesmer fit the theme - 5 Good way to end the story line.
8. How much do you like Mesmer? (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) - 5 I like Mesmer a lot. The Vale has dragons that look like plants, animals, insects, snakes, fish, rocks, mythological creatures, fossils, and humanoids, and other weird stuff. Why not a shaman?

Delirium might’ve been better & given the Dream element (but wouldn’t have prevented the long fails). 8. Are you okay Hun? No, it’s different & I like that.

Comments / feedback for Deca: I prefer dragons that don’t look like humans or having human like movements. This one reminds me of a magician on stage, trying to perform some hypnosis or something. 😵💫.In addition, there are a lot of “stuff” on him. The baby is cute though.
