I need several event dragons in the rift. I thought a good strategy would be to try and breed the dragons with the highest breeding odds, so started with Undau. My strategy is not working very well. Today, I bred my third untraited Undau.
Oh no! On the bright side, your strategy did work. You’ve already bred three Undau dragons! On the not so bright side, there isn’t any more bright news.
The Rift really likes to give Vale versions of dragons. Doesn’t seem right. That’s what the Vale is for.
For most people, yes. It seems like the rift really does enjoy spitting out untraited dragons. But maybe you guys should visit my rift and try your breeding there. Because I'm always getting stuck with rifted versions, which I don't collect and really don't want. I even sold my rifted Niamh after a while because I decided that I didn't want one with green flowers instead of yellow. The darker spirals were pretty and everything, but traited dragons aren't for me. I much prefer the plain ones.
Don't worry. I managed to breed Niamh without a trait before I sold the other one!

I’m quite certain the Rift falls under the universal law: if you want it, you shall not easily get it, and if you don’t want it, you shall get it aplenty.
It’s important that we’re never completely satisfied so we keep reaching and striving.

I’ll recommend to Deca that they refrain from using Starwing, Glowwing, Gildamane, Faux, Stella, and Prestige in future breeding combos for new dragon, since a traited version of Starwing and Glowwing are difficult to acquire because they’re dependent on the expensive Chrysalis Egg of Mystery. No promises that Deca will do this, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.
I know this is a different view, but isn’t it ok that 1 or 2 of the new dragons are hard to get? I’m scrambling to get a couple of the required traited dragons too, but that’s part of the challenge; part of the fun. Each event, some are pretty easy and some require more work.

I think everyone accepts that there should be a challenge to breeding the dragons - no-one wants them handed to them for little effort. The problem with using Chrysalis dragons in the breeding combo is that the only way to get a Rift Chrysalis dragon is to buy a Chrysalis Egg of Mystery. To be able to breed a Starwing or a Glowwing, you have to start with one of them. And the Eggs of Mystery get very expensive, very quickly.

I feel your pain. I have been trying for a traited Outrider in one of the parks since day 1, I got 1 untraited, and all the rest are fails. 😭. Haven’t even started on Undau. Let us continue to persevere! 🐨🐨🐨
I also need Outrider - the reason for the avatar, but thought I'd start with Undau. Perhaps I'll swap and try for Outrider for a while - maybe my breeding dragons are tired.

Harwood, there is a difference between hard to breed and impossible to breed. Stella is impossible to breed unless you are lucky enough to already have a rifted Starwing or Glowwing, as neither of these can be bred unless you have the other. Without Stella, Prestige cannot be bred, so there are two upcoming Limited dragons that are unattainable for many players. That is not *fun*.

Haven't managed to luck out with any of the new dragons with co-op, so coming here to whine and look for koala.

I have found your koala! Admittedly, he has been sleeping for the last 96 hours, but he is awake now and heading to your park!

I completely agree with what you’re saying. The dragons shouldn’t be super easy to breed, because that would make the game boring and there would be no point in playing.
My suggestion was to ask Deca if they’d refrain from using Starwing, Glowwing, and dragons that use Starwing and Glowwing in their breeding combo and their offspring. So it’d be six dragons total. There is a luck factor in the game when breeding. But I feel the mystery eggs are more like a gamble because you can’t do anything to increase your chances of getting Starwing or Glowwing. In that way, I think they’re a special case.

Never has the circus Stage been so spectacular! Many, many thanks to CalliAlli and glademaid! Gems and treats are swinging into your Vale.

I do understand the frustration. Relying on the regular park instead of quick breeding in Rift may not be fun, but it doesn’t make these dragons unattainable. I realize I have the advantage of years and years of play. I have a traited Glowwing from an egg purchase and have bred some good dragons from it, but still trying for Starwing. During the last event I used the runic caves to get a traited Prestige - that was a happy moment! Getting a Stella in Rift may be impossible but i’ll keep trying.
PSA: There’s been an update to the Recommended Dragons to Breed!
Be sure to check the post on the first page so you know which parent dragons you’ll need for the upcoming limited dragons.
Just a reminder, in case anyone missed this post from last week, there was an update to the Recommended Dragons to Breed.

Undau was talking to himself. The two heads were in a fierce debate, until Noel dePlante interrupted. 'Undau, we need some night time circus acts this year, maybe a nocturnal...' 'I have the perfect dragon!' declared Undau. 'Noel, do you know what’s better than one performer?' Noel shook his head. 'Two performers! It’s twice as nice, double the juggle, and two times the enzymes! Noel, meet my friend, the ping-pong, donkey-kong, sing-along, PONKIPONG!' Ponkipong fell out of the tree above and rolled, twice, towards Undau. 'Oh, this is too (two) perfect!' exclaimed Noel.
Ponkipong is in the co-op giving twinning times two performances. Koalapong to all!
Breeding hint: UNDAU + fire + air
Breeding/incubation time: 15 hours
Status: Limited tier, 7 days
Elements / Habitats: light, dark, fire, air
Breeding percentages: breeding hint 3.5%; social clone 10%
PRO TIP #1: Ponkipong’s breeding combo is UNDAU + fire + air, but Undau already contributes fire, so you only need a dragon to add the air element.
PRO TIP #2: When using Ponkipong’s breeding combo in the Rift, DASH is the top dragon to breed with UNDAU to maximise the Magic you’ll receive, and not add any extra elements. If you don’t have a traited Dash or prefer to use a permanent dragon, Chimneypuff and Whirlwind are the best.

tysm! i got ponkipong in rift with ur breeding tips! took 6 breeding tries. so happy!
I know it’s a bit early for rating a dragon but PonkiPong is (are?) fabulous 🧡 Hats off (two of them!) to DECA 👏 While I’m here, a quick whine for (a traited) Undau in the rift please 🍷🍷
The koala gods are with one of my parks this event! Cloned all three non breedables already so I bought Ponkipong as a treat! And then bred a rifted one on the second attempt using Inferno with my Undau. My other park - nothing at all yet! The egg designs are so beautiful, too Koalas to everyone still seeking event dragons
